The WWe sends there wrestlers for the solders, yes it is good press and yes it gets good ratings, Bob Hope made his name by visiting the solders, was it self promotion or because he gave a damn. Van Dam always refused to go and this pissed off McMahon and one of the many reasons that hurt his push. his shows to me he cares to a degree

I still think it'll be nice when the WWE doesn't have to go there anymore because it'll mean our boys are back home safe and sound.

A little help here?
I'm taking the boys to see "WWE Presents RAW Live" this Friday night in Mobile, Al.
Are the Friday night events live? Or even recorded?
The tickets are a surprise, so I can't ask them.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yeah, I got tix for Jan 8th as a xmas present for my nephew. I haven't been to a house show in years, but if I remember correctly it's a better show. No backstage shit and you'll get marquee matches.

I liked house shows because the wrestlers usually do shit they cant do on live tv like talk back to the audience and fuck around during the match to make you laugh.

The last house show I went to Kurt Angle stuck around after his match and trashed the crowd for like 5 minutes. It was great.

Oh I honestly believe HE think there is nothing wrong with how he acts. He puts it all out there in his book, and doesn't see anything wrong with it. Ego is a deadly thing.
As far as his Video/ Image rights he should have considered that before punching Vince. Owens death was not the platform to shoehorn in his request for rights to his character.
In the book he clearly states that he turned down the first offer with WCW because he felt Vince would do right by him. Vince did, and gave him a fat contract a top spot etc. Now Vince balking on the deal and telling him he was gonna pay him on the backend was dirty pool no doubt. So Bret jumped took and took the money.
Taker and Micheals, now that loyalty. Never budged, and Micheal could have make a fucking FOURTUNE with Nash and Hall running wild over there in WCW.
I will say Hart book and Bobby Heenans are probably the best books out there.
vince never fucked over taker or michaels like he did hart. supposedly taker almost left over the whole thing. i think harts is definately one of the best books. also thought dynamite kid's was up there.

I had issues with the HArt book becuase he kept complainng they took the belt away from him too quick. It was a constant. I then checked how many actual days he held the belt....In total days he held it longer than HHH, Michaels, Rock and Austin.... He is only happy when he is the champ. Annoying he got his share
I can't believe neither Fez nor Sam knew Shamus is actually from Dublin and a real irishman
The last house show I went to Kurt Angle stuck around after his match and trashed the crowd for like 5 minutes. It was great.
Last HS I went to The Rock and Foley must have clowned around for about 20 minutes after the show. It was hysterical

Although Bret Hart was an excellent wrestler, and over with the fans he got a big negative in the "Charisma" department. I think that is where the bitterness with Micheals started. Micheals could work AND work the crowd.
Also a "You gotta be kidding me" moment in the book was his talking about the whole SS match with Davey Boy. You expect me to believe he did EVERYTHING? That Davey, who at the time was an experienced worker, just plain turned retard out there? Or was it that this was one of the best matches of his career and had to hog the glory....from a dead man.

I havent seen it yet but I did catch the end at a bar last night. That fake digitalized snow was a perfect example of just another thing they do wrong in the WWE. 10 years ago Vince wouldve had bags of fake snow dumped and blowing around the entire arena making the effect look cool as shit. Now they just half ass it.

That's been the strangest thing about this whole PG experiment to me. If Vince wants to go after the 8-14 crowd, why the fuck is Raw still on at 9 PM on Monday? Last time they tried this the syndicated weekend shows were the big thing and Prime Time Wrestling was just getting turned into Raw.

Not that I'm a big Hart supporter but I always thought he had charisma but ONLY when wrestling, he was death in an interview, with the notable exception of "He's a high flyer of the highest magnitude" in wcw. and for the SS match, didnt he say davey boy was injured and that's why he carried the match?

What the fuck are they doing to my beloved wrestling? This is the horseshit Lance Storm was talking about. If your going to take some of the wrestling away, and turn Raw into a tv show, at least make it like a realistic drama. Like Law & Order. Tonight I felt like I was watching an episode of Spongebob.
A hallway under the ring? Really? Whoevers idea that was should be fired. And thats just the tip of the iceberg. Heres the other things fucked up with this Raw:
- Johnny Damon as host. What the fuck was he plugging anyway? His free agency? The fact that he may be the worlds worst actor? "I didnt sign on........for....this."
- The chick chasing the tiger. I dont mind poking fun of celebs in the news, but at least have it make fucking sense!
- Little Peoples Court. Not only was this whole segment horrendous....but they played it twice. And why the fuck dont any of the midgets talk?
- The DX plugs. They were funny at first, theyve now crossed the line to pathetic.
- I didnt mind the fake Santas...but they were kind of weak. Santino Claus was awesome though. Would be nice if they let the guy have a fucking offensive maneuver once in awhile.
- I love that there are still a few cities with people smart enough to boo John Cena.
- The fake snow I already talked about. So hack. Just CGI the fucking wrestlers already. You already script every move they do and word they say. Then you dont have to pay them either.

I think Damon was promoting some charitable foundation he's doing. I forget when they plugged it.
WWE should've had done the "little people's court" Verne Troyer was hosting, but nooooo!!! They didn't. At least he's capable of talking compared to the other little ppl I guess.
The Tiger Woods spoof was horribly bad it's not even funny.

-- John Cena is not expected to be at next week's RAW, which will see WWE go head-to-head with TNA's iMPACT! for the first time. Cena will serve as grand marshall for the Fiesta Bowl Parade on 1/2, and is also penned in to do the coin toss that will be held before the game on 1/4.

I have to say Raw was pretty good Monday. But apparently they keep fucking up the ends of the show. Last week it was Orton pissed off and breaking character in the ring on Kofi because he fucked up the RKO, this week it was DX cursing because the production people fucked up and didnt cue Cenas music on time.
These next few months though Raw is usually good. I love the Royal Rumble and the build up to Mania. After that it goes right back downhill though.

The Hart Dynasty has bashed Davey Boy who is DH's father. Also there T-Shirt says better than the BEst which implies they are better than Bret. So I doubt they would rush to protect Hitman. That would also turn them to Faces which I guess they don;t want. A Hart Dynasty vs Legacy could be a good match.

I went to a live show a few weeks ago. First time in over ten years I didn't go to a TV show or a PPV and I really enjoyed it.

I dont know if its just me getting older, or if the fans at the live events are just stupider now. But stupid shit like R-Truths "Whats up?" would never have gotten the kind of reaction 10 years ago that it gets today. And for good reason. Its fucking stupid.
I mean before it seemed like only the good catchphrases would catch on where now if a wrestler uses a catchphrase the crowd jumps on it immediately. Even if it is pure shit. Its embarrassing. When I see the crowd jumping on "Whats up?", "Woo woo woo", and "Im awesome" I just cringe. I cant help it. Its just so douchey.

If you listen carefully when the Miz says his line, most of the crowd says "and I'm AWFUL!". It dates back to a Raw episode where he was told by the guest host (I believe) that if he lost he had to say that line. He won the match, but the fans ran with it.

I have to give Vince credit, I dont know how he did it, but he managed to take a Raw 2 weeks before Wrestlemania, with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the host, and make it fucking boring.
My thoughts...
- I dug Stone Cold throwing some respect Brets way early on, but how the fuck do you not let him stun Cena? His music interrupted him and everything. We get it Vince, you want everyone to love John Cena, it wont happen but must you try so hard as to even make him untouchable by Steve Austin???
- Big Shows finisher is fucking stupid. I understand theyve been trying for years to get him something besides the chokeslam, but this "knocker outer punch" is just a big a failure as the rest of them.
- Jericho is one of the few bright spots in the WWE right now
- The divas cant wrestle and are a waste of time on every show
- The Mania montage of Taker and Michaels was very cool
- I dont get what Shawn Michaels was supposed to "show" the Undertaker in his match tonight. That promo made no sense given how that match ended. In reality it shouldve been a DQ loss by HBK due to interference by Edge.
- Damage looks like a shit story, but a cool guy movie that I think Id like to see
- I dont about anyone else, but Cena vs. Batista reminds me of the Lesnar vs. Goldberg match a few Manias back. A potential dream match at one time that for some reason has no steam now.
- Randy Orton is another bright spot in the WWE, by the way, is he a face now???
- Inducting Gorgeous George in the HOF is fucking cool. And way overdue.
- Pete Rose as Guest Host next week = Bob Eucker gets announced as the final Inductee into the HOF
- It was nice to see blood on Raw again, even if it was accidental.
- I cant believe they fucking bleep out the word ass at 11pm at night. God how pathetic.
- The ending was predictable, but not bad. Man I cant believe they wasted a Stone Cold appearance like that. He was barely on the show. And when he was they bleepd out half of what he said. Bigtime dropping the ball on that.

I agree 100%, but I have to blame either Stone Cold or whoever didn't bother telling him not to say it. As stupid as the PG shit is, everyone involved - including Austin - knows it's what they're doing now and he shouldn't have been saying it in the first place.

Cena's music interrupted because Austin ran a bit long with his opening promo. While him Stunning Cena would have been funny there should have really been just 1 Stunner.
Scenario:
Bret signs contract. Vince signs contract. Stone Cold calls for 3 beers to celebrate. He gives one to Bret and offers one to Vince. Vince begrudgingly takes it. Stone Cold toasts Bret, goes to toast Vince and before the cans even connect.... kick to the gut, Stunner. While Vince tries to get up and Austin starts to walk up the ramp Bret takes off his cast, goes thru the same schtick he said before but instead of saying "Vince screwed Vince" he says "For once, Bret screwed Vince!"
(Man I wish they'd hire wrestlers as writers)

Fuck that. When you are a legend you dont change what made you great in order to conform to company policy. Ever. Thats the difference between a Stone Cold Steve Austin who became a legend by doing his thing and allowing the crowd to decide he was, and a company robot like John Cena who changes his entire persona to try and be 80's Hogan Part 2 because the company asks him to. Vince can give him the belt 100 times, but when its all said and done, fans will never revere him the way they do Stone Cold.

Suck a dick Vince.
Speaking to Acorn Online, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon rips TNA for its struggle to make any sort of impact in the ongoing "Monday Night War" with his company's RAW telecast.
Notably, McMahon explains that TNA offers a dated product--"pro wrasslin'"--that is not compatible with the expectations of the modern WWE fan.
"We’re in different businesses," says McMahon. "We’re in the entertainment business and they’re in the ‘pro wrasslin’ business. It’s different markets. When they moved to Monday nights they threw the kitchen sink at us and only did a fraction of our audience. It doesn’t speak well for the type of product they’re trying to present with the tawdry, blood-soaked action. I don’t think that’s what the culture wants these days.”
McMahon adds that his company, which is "woven into the fabric of Americana," represents a true family affair.
Says McMahon, "If you look at the audience for our live events you will see fathers and sons and mothers and sons and brothers and sisters. This is something an entire family can go out and enjoy together. It’s a lot like baseball in that respect."
I find it funny that in the "Faggoty Family Era" of the WWE his wife left the company to try politics and his son no longer wants anything to do with the company.

Heres my question, is the situation of the day the fact that his wife is running for office? Because I see tv shows like Family Guy and South Park raunch up there shows and they are as popular as ever. Where is this insatiable need for little kid friendly wrestling coming from?
I hear they are as big as ever but right now Raw pulls in 4 full ratings points LESS then they did in 1999. And Vince himself is worth half a BILLION less also. I just dont get it.

when I use to listen to Bubba the Love Sponge and he had Hogan on, Bubba asked him why would Vince let his company go in the shitter like he has with the horrible writing and bullshit endings to matches. Hogan himself said that "Vince will pull his company in the toilet for whatever agenda he has going on at the time. If it hurts everyone at the time, its no sweat off his brow cause he knows he can come up with something to get the attention back up."
My problem is, with that statement (which was said back in 2003 or so) is that people's attitudes and attention spans have changed so much since the late 90's. People just aren't that easy to get over with anymore, unless you have a black man running for president.

I wonder if HBK is leaving more because he's done or more because, where does he and the E go from here? It doesn't seem like a fun place to be, the whole thing seems stale and the guy has been putting them on his back for at least the past three years. Really, it was only HBK who made the last 3 watchable. I don't doubt he'll be back for a HOF match next year, maybe with a Dibiase, and AGAIN steal the show. But to step away now, I don't blame him.
Its a big transition time. Three big death knells to attitude in the last two months. DX and ECW were on life support, braindead, but alive in name, as appirations of the past, but now offically and really, done and gone. Add to this, the end of the Hart situation and any notions or whims of his return.
What is left to pop the base?
-Sting in the WWE in the next 3-5 years?
-Rock returns to the ring?
-Austin returns?
-Austin-Hogan?
Thats really about it. Its sad, and maybe its time to just let this thing go and die. I'm sure I'll keep an eye on it, but I find fewer and fewer reasons to tune in week in and week out.
The reality struck me this weekend, we are on Wrestlemania 27 and this whole thing really peaked at wrestlemania 17. The highpoint of the WWF was the exact moment before Vince walks out on the Rock-Austin match. That started them on a downhill trajectory that they still are on.
That said, an amazing speech by HBK, and really made me feel warm about the guy. Its so encouraging to know that people can find that measure of redemption in their lives. Its sad, but get out HBK, don't end up dead on a Des Moines hotel floor.

You can forget about Austin / Hogan and Austin returning to wrestling.
The Rock is supposedly coming back for the summer but not to wrestle. But the next big thing is Goldberg coming back to WWE.
To be perfectly honest, if it wasnt for DVR, I wouldve stopped watching years ago. Most of the diehard fans I knew either watch TNA now or dont watch wrestling at all. Vince has driven them all away by catering to 5 year olds.

It's all Orton IMO, he's played it off perfectly, particularly in ring. He hasn't started shamelessly mugging for the crowd but if you look back of the the last month (maybe 2) he verrrry slowly started acting like more of a face in his matches. I would bet you can count how many dropkicks he threw as a heel in 2009 on one hand, now he throws one in every match, same with the scoop slam hes been doing lately, they're more high energy type moves that didn't fit heel Orton but they do fit face Orton.

No. Hes one of the few pluses to come out of Raw the last year. And hes not getting cheers by begging the crowd the way Cena does. Hes actually playing a tweener. Something that hasnt been done in years. He doing almost exactly the same shit he was doing as a heel, even giving his concussion giver outer kick to Rhodes at Mania, and still getting the huge pops. Most faces wouldnt do that heel move anymore.
Ive liked Orton for awhile. Ever since he was giving his "return updates" when he hurt his arm before joining Evolution, its nice to see him as a face. I would really like to see them run with this for awhile, turn Cena heel maybe after Summerslam, and build into a Cena vs Orton match for next years Mania. But then again that only makes sense and would make the product entertaining for people above the age of 8. So it probably wont happen.

Hes the top merch seller, but not the top face. The top face doesnt get half boos at half the areans you play at. The top face doesnt wrestle to chant wars of "Lets go Cena....Cena sucks!" Right now the top face is either HHH or Undertaker. Shit even Orton gets bigger pops right now.

As far as Orton goes I haven't really watched him in the last year because his "heel" was so offensively awful I would cringe everytime he came on screen. I always thought he had the potential to be a good worker. I just never saw him as Main Event World Champ Material.
'Takers ready to go, HHH isn't a spring chicken anymore, and Kane has been buried so far down nobody would ever subscribe to him making a World Title run. Jericho and Edge are kinda "today" but thier match at mania was solid, but nothing to remember for years to come.

Well its kind of a double edged sword. He wants to retire from wrestling to act, so the WWE had him in this movie role, but they only want to use the movies to promote current wrestlers. So because he wouldnt re-sign a contract they pulled him off for HHH.

- John Morrison is gonna blow up now thats hes back on Raw. The flip he did out of the ring was incredible. If hes not in the Championship picture by the end of the summer Vince McMahon should be shot.
- Santino is still the funniest thing on Raw.
- Between Edge and Orton, it seems like WWE may be going back to tweeners instead of the whole cartoon good guy/bad guy routine. This is a good thing.

I dont think Orton is comparable to Austin. I mean, I get the whole snake thing, in where you cant trust either, but thats about it. Austin was way more "in your face". But I do love the fact that now that hes getting cheeered he hasnt changed one thing about his character.

I think Orton is like Austin in the way that he gets over with the crowd by playing a tweener character and attacking everyone regardless of whether they're a "good guy" or "bad guy."
He's not going to redefine wrestling like Austin did, but with he, Edge, and Jericho all on the same brand, RAW is shaping up to be better than it has in a long, long time.
Hopefully they decide to make a big move as fall approaches and put Cena on Smackdown, then I will be very happy with the RAW brand as long as I can ignore the stupid guest hosts.

NXT guys do a second angle at house show
By Paul Philbin
The NXT invasion storyline continued at last night's WWE developmental show in Melbourne, Florida. The main event was scheduled to be The Miz and Daniel Bryan vs. Christian and Heath Slater but that didn't happen. The Miz's music played before the match but nobody came out. Christian came out next and talked about what happened on RAW, then called out Heath Slater. Slater talked about how everything was good to start off on NXT but then Christian wouldn't give him the answers so they lost the competition.
Daniel Bryan then ran out and attacked Christian from behind. The Miz came down next and fought off the Rookies with Christian. Miz proposes that they do a Pros vs. Rookies match. Miz cut a babyface promo with Christian and worked the match as a face.
The ending came when Miz and Christian were about to hit their finishers on the Rookies. All of the Season 1 Rookies rushed the ring and beat down Miz and Christian. The Rookies tore down the FCW ring before Bryan kicked Miz in the head and Slater hit the Killswitch on Christian. The Rookies left with the Pros laid out.

It's Benoits fault!
The latest update on Bryan Danielson is that there is the feeling that he didn't know about the so-called "Chris Benoit protocol" in which the WWE talent are not allowed to use objects to choke each other. The word is that this protocol was talked about heavily in meetings and that while some of the stars who have been around for a few years knew about it, the protocol wasn't something that was regularly talked about. It is also being reported that there is a "lot of sympathy" for Danielson right now.

For the record, the NXT angle wouldve looked alot better if Vince didnt decide to have them beat up by guys like Santino and Mark Henry.

The second Santino hit the ring, I lost all interest in the angle. I did like that they had the Fatal Fourway contenders all fighting off the rookies because, aside from Cena, the upper card rarely gets involved in the locker room emptying segments.
I also noticed that Jericho never got involved with any of the segments, so I hope that means he will be masterminding the NXT invasion.

I liked the fact that he was the last person to chase them out of the building, as if they're so afraid of Santino that they just to keep running despite the fact that it was just him and Mark Henry by that point.

My favorite part of the chase was when Mark Henry was running ahead of a bunch of the NXT guys.

He wasn't running ahead of them. They were just starting to lap him when the camera kicked on.

Yeah that was pretty awesome, I think as one of them passed he actually patted him on the back as if to say "good job, we'll finish this marathon buddy, you and me."

Not only did he use a necktie, but he was also reading a bible before working out.

"To whom it may concern;
I am a campaign worker for the Linda McMahon Senate campaign in Stamford, CT and I wanted to pass this information along to you. I am not a "fan" of Mrs. McMahon's family business by any means but I also do not like to see people's livelihoods taken away because of someone's political ambitions.
In regards to the released performer Daniel Brian this decision was made by Mr. David Cappiello the new campaign manager for Mrs. McMahon. After viewing the video of an incident of someone being choked and spat on Mr. Cappiello advised the campaign this could have very negative repurcussions to the campaign as a whole.
It was his decision that many in the media would use this against Mrs. McMahon in her campaign because of it's violent nature and it would bring up memories of the Chris Benoit tragedy which the campaign has tried very hard to distance itself from. He also felt it would significantly hurt her stance on family values to be associated with a product marketed towards children that allowed it's performers to openly spit in the faces of one another. It was this decision that led to the performer being released to show the media that Mrs. McMahon does not tolerate or approve of such behavior.
I am sending this to you from a temporary e-mail address. I will not answer further questions I just thought the truth should be put out there and not this rampant speculation. You can chose to print this or not, I leave that entirely to you."
If true, its exactly why she shouldn't be running for office.

I noticed that with the main eventers and thought it was cool. I would love that Jericho idea.

Exactly. Even if this incident isnt fact, you know her campaign has alot to say about what the WWE does. They have to. Campaign managers micromanage everything that could impact their candidate.
