I dont miss that WWF, Maybe a couple years after that.

As far as Raw went, God its pitiful. They have a joke in The Miz out there doing some dumb calling out Cena gimmick. Remind me of when Jericho called out Goldberg in WCW. only not entertaining.

Meanwhile, the good half of that tag team is wasted on Smackdown. How the fuck did Raw get stuck with the Marty Jannety of that team???

Meanwhile, Santino rules Raw once again. Although Im not sure where they are going with this "holy shit I did an offensive move!" gimmick hes playing with.

Apprently whenever a tag team breaks up one has to be Shawn and one has to be Marty. Can;t they both do well, like Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy. I think the Miz will have a nice career.

So horribly executed...and an even worse idea. Who couldn't guess every backstage "move" that took way too long to execute? Who didn't know that the other two would save Orton? Or that Batista would wait ten minutes to make the save?

Those closeups on Flair punching Orton on the way to the ring - he was clearly stopping a good 6 inches away from Orton's head.

I'm sure in her state of mind she felt she was doing the right thing

That whole thing last night was more disrespectful to Eddy than anything else they had done, IMO- nothing more than the WWE burning every bridge they can once they realize they are in the "clear" with Vickie since she was the one who quit and wasn't fired

Well, good to hear Legacy have it's own theme. Second of all, nice to see them going for the tag team titles. Finally, they've got an excuse to now have interaction with Hart Dynasty since they interfered when it was obvious that they didn't need to cost Smith and Kidd the match. Let's hope they follow through with that.

Also, it's retarded that Big Show, Triple H, and Cena are competing in the Battle Royal considering all three of them just had their chance to become champion earlier in the evening.

Basically... My sources have told me that next week Trump will declare bankruptcy and request a government bailout. The government will end up owning RAW after Trump is removed as CEO and Obama takes over as owner. Vince, not wanting the government which once was after him about steroids owning RAW, will then tap The Rock to come out of Hollywood and fight one on one with Obama at Bash At The Beach for control of the brand hence setting up THE ROCK VS. This is what happens when you have tv writers writing wrestling angles. JUST like last few years, their thing now is to come up with some goofy, completely over the top gimmick that will last throughout the summer.

Agreed on the video thing. Such a huge angle and you can't work out a real conversation?

As for Smackdown, you may want to give it a chance.
Jericho, Edge, Hardy, Punk, Mysterio, Morrison, Benjamin... some decent wrasslin' going on over there. Granted, you would have to deal with the Great Khali...

I have a hard time dealing with Smackdown. Maybe it's improved recently, but it always seemed to move so fucking slowly. Mic stuff would take even more of show time than on Raw, and the matches themselves would go on forever. Plus, there's rarely any pop from the audience.

The many flaws of this angle:

How can you sell a brand?
Are there still going to be mentions of WWE or is everything RAW now?
Vince sells the show...but still owns the company...but he can't control it anymore?
Is RAW no longer under the corporate umbrella because of this?

God forbid you just made Flair the new General Manager. You were in Charlotte. The people would have popped huge. Fans will tune in to see what he's going to do next. But instead, you screw up even more by showing that RAW will be doing the same old crap and that if you really want to watch a good wrestling show you'll see what happens on Smackdown because of Edge, Hardy, Punk, Mysterio, and Jericho. If you were to move Smackdown to Monday nights, my god would those ratings be through the roof.

Vince is an asshole. The whole Trump thing was a "swerve" to fool fans who read "leaked" storylines that Flair was supposed to appear. So instead of giving fans what they wanted to see he pulled the TRUMP CARD. LOLOLOOL.. Ugh

Between RAW taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina, Flair departing early from a Ring of Honor event on Saturday, numerous Internet spoiler reports, and the promised announcement of a new General Manager on RAW — all signs were pointing towards the WWE Hall of Famer making his grand return to television. It did not happen, as it was never supposed to happen.

It was recently reported that company officials had focused once again on preventing news and storyline plans from leaking onto the Internet. While Flair was backstage at the event, he was solely brought in to serve as a red herring to trick those within the company leaking storyline plans to the online media.

WWE anticipated the story breaking online, which would throw reporters off track on the Donald Trump storyline. Ultimately, it worked as the Donald Trump storyline was not spoiled before it was revealed. In fact, plans regarding Trump were kept secret from pretty much everyone in the company except those involved in the pre-tape and a few others.

Swerving his employees and fans apparently worked so well it backfired cause Vince and USA had to issue a press release admitting it's just a fake purchase cause news channels believed it and Vince started losing shares on Wall Street.

USA Network Statement Re: WWE Monday Night RAW

NEW YORK, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- "USA Network and WWE issued a press release on June 16 that referred to Monday Night RAW's storyline of a 'sale' of WWE's RAW to Donald Trump. We intended the release to be promotional for that ongoing story arc on the series. There is no such actual 'sale'. We apologize for any confusion."

So this homo's ingenius plan to fool his employees and fans ultimately backfired on him. Way to go Vince!

Here's what you do that most certainly won't happen because I thought of it...

On RAW, Donald Trump announces that while he may be the new owner, he can't always be in control of the new WWE properties that he owns being that he nearly owns everything else in the world. So, like any good owner of a professional sports team would do, he has hired someone to watch over and coach it into the top spot and appoints Ric Flair as the new General Manager of RAW. By doing this, Trump doesn't always have to appear, Flair can continue his storyline with Orton as the guy in charge, and everyone goes on with their merry way.

TripleSkeet
06-18-2009, 02:36 PM
Well according to JR's blog, Trump should be hiring somebody as GM that Vince isnt fond of. So Flair could be up for the role. Austin too.

Ya know, it's pretty bad when Eric Bischoff of all people thinks your product is boring, awful, and predictable. Speaks volumes

His blog entry

Jericho and Rey was fun to watch, and both men have great matches still to come, but from a story line point of view…been there done this so many times, its hard to get into the angle.

Liked the Cena/Orton interview from a performance point of view, but putting two top performers together in an interview where they both have stakes, but allow themselves to be humiliated/insulted with no reaction from the other, prohibits any suspension of disbelief….aka: buzzkill.

-- "Triple H’s entrance is weak, old and so tired I went to go floss my teeth when it started. He looks like a Lhasa Apso genetic experiment gone bad. Get him some new music for Gods sake, and a hair-cut. One word describes HHH’s character: dated."

-- "The VKM announcement of the new GM tease was weak at best…is it me or are Vince’s ears gaining size on his head? The VKM revelation that he “sold RAW” was lame. When you start out a story line with a premise that is completely unbelievable, should it be a surprise that the audiences gags on it? Trump isn’t good in this role and is too forced. My guess is that Trump will bring in Ric to handle day-to-day duties on his behalf, and at least give fans something to get excited about for a while."

-- "The main event just bored me. 3 ways, 4 ways, 10 ways are just cheap ways to camouflage the lack of story and issues between the performers. I am the first one to defend writers/producers who are challenged to come up with fresh ideas for the same pool of talent week after week, but there is a consistent pattern in WWE story telling that just leaves me feeling flat."

Golddust and Hornswaggle? Too f’n goofy for comment. And Miz, make me believe. Because right now I don’t.

This is so spot on. Every single fucking Raw now ends with 8 or 10-man tag teams that are beyond terrible...particularly when each one has to have their own 5-minute entrance. Same with the tired "partner of your choice" gimmick. In the old days, this occassionally-used gimmick was brilliant. Most of the time, you really were surprised by chosen person - it was either somebody that came back to the company or a shocking heel/face turn. It's rarely a surprise these days.

J.R. Speaks: Sid & Goldberg Returning?, Bash PPV, More

On Sid: "Same thing goes for Psycho Sid as many folks ask if he will ever return to WWE. I haven't a clue but it would seem if Sid was going to return to WWE that he would have done so by now. However, I am blessed to not be in the talent relations department any longer so I don't know what those types of plans are as a rule. Now if you have a BBQ question, I'm in."

As much as J.R. tries to make his blogs a shoot, their works. Which means Sid will be back. Fucking awful.

Trump comes out says everyone in the arena gets a refund, celebrity guests each week, and every RAW is commercial free.

Vince strolls out, blah blah blah, Vince buys RAW back for double the money he sold it for. Trump slaps him. End of 15 minute segment and worst angle ever.

HHH/Orton match was actually pretty good with some good spots, though the end was lame. The Trump/McMahon angle was beyond dumb. What exactly was the point? If Trump would have bought it, to sell it to someone Vince wouldn't do business with for more money, then I think it'd be pretty awesome. Maybe a trio of Bischoff/Flair/Heyman, backed by some legit wealthy person they ominously make references to (the Nuggets owner? Ted Turner?).

It was no surprise that there were lots of product placements. These much-touted "commercial-free" or "limited commercial interruption" promotions are always underwritten by one or two advertisers. Vince made just as much money last night as any other broadcast.

Supposedly those who paid via credit card got an automatic refund. Those who paid cash had to go to the box office either last night after the show or sometime this week.

And regarding the abbreviated Trump angle (credit Figure Four Weekly):

WWE writers did not finish the script for Raw until hours before the show, and it was a last minute decision to kill off the Donald Trump new owner storyline. The storyline was originally planned to last for more than a week. The general feeling backstage was negative towards the storyline, and it did not create the reaction Vince McMahon expected from the media.

WWE hoped when they announced Donald Trump would give a full ticket refund for the people in attendance at last night's Raw that the media would pick the story up, but it was another failed attempt as only the local media covered it. The bottom line now is that WWE purchased $250,000 worth of failed publicity.

Maybe not.. Dammit dammit dammit

For last nights show, the first hour did 4.2 rating with 6.3 million viewers, while the second hour shot up to a 4.8 rating with 7.3 million viewers.

While last night's show was a special event in that it was the first ever commercial-free Raw, the last time RAW did a 4.5 rating for a 2-hour show was back in January 2006.

As we reported earlier, WWE issued a press release this afternoon stating that while Trump is no longer the owner of Raw, his feud with Vince McMahon is probably not over. With a rating like this, you can understand why.

When she began announcing for WWE she was awful, but now I think I'm gonna miss her voice. Especially at live events, she nailed the national anthem.
