When it comes to making money on the box office sales, a movie must make double the budget and double the marketing. So, if a movie is made for $10 million and the marketing cost $2 million, then the movie needs to make $24 million just to break even.

b/c the income has to be double the budget and marketing. I mean, thats what I read. It does sound weird but Im sure there is a reason for it.

I dont thatds what needs to happen for it to make money. I think thats the formula they use to count the movie as a success. In other words, maybe they dont think it was worth the time to make a $10 million film if they only turned a profit of $5 million on it. Nowadays though the DVD sales can completely change a studios views on if a movie is a flop or a success.
For the record, it was nice to see Flair bleed. For awhile I thought they had banned bleeding now. Sorry but the ending of Raw last week where HHH had Cody in the cage was a moment that should have had some blood. Caging this guy in for revenge, throwing him into every cage wall and using a sledgehammer and the guy doesnt have a scratch. Pathetic.

That is correct. The formula is a bit complex but essentially the studio gets 50 cents of every dollar on the price of a ticket.
So if movie cost $10 million, it needs to bring in $20million internationally for it to make money at the box office.

Hopefully theyll keep going in this direction. Fuck kid friendly. We grew up seeing blood, all it did was make it seem more real. If they do have a ban on bleeding it makes me like Ric Flair even more for ignoring it.
Reading Bret Harts book, the last time they banned bleeding was the early 90's, basically the WWE's toilet days, go figure. And all the guys that "accidentally" got cut? Turned out they were all planned blade jobs they had to pretend were accidents to appease management.

First of all. No. I dont want Undertakers streak being snapped by some up and comer like a Jack Swagger or CM Punk. If thats how youre gonna snap the streak, then dont snap it. Leave it be. I still find it ridiculous (as much as I do love the guy) that they made Chris Jericho the first Undisputed Champ. As a wrestling fan that lowered the accomplishment in my eyes.
Secondly, HBK isnt snapping anything. Hes gotten over on The Undertaker every week on both Raw and Smackdown leading to Mania so far. The Undertaker hasnt won out once yet. They wouldnt let him get beat like this week after week if they were going to have him lose at Mania.
Third of all, Santino fucking rules and they really need to start using him for more then just comic relief.

Nothing. Didnt you see what I wrote in the parenthesis?
I dont know, it was just with a tournament that had The Rock, Kurt Angle and Stone Cold in it, in a match that meant so much, to see Jericho walk away with it just didnt feel right. It felt like it diminished the title. Maybe it was because he had been a World Champion for all of 3 months before it happened. But I just felt that for the first time the belts were unified in 50 years, it shouldve went to a more established, bigger name guy. I didnt think they shouldve used that moment to try and give a guy a rub.
Just my opinion. I love Jericho, but when I think of the tiers of all time wrestlers, he falls into the 2nd tier, and I felt that it shouldve went to a 1st tier guy.

Your forgetting the main story arch of the "Unification" and that was the god awful Invasion angle.
Giving Jericho the belt 1) Fulfilled contractual obligations 2) Finished SCSA as a heel with "WCW" 3) Left the Rock open for Hogan (who they knew was coming back) 4) Gave HHH the window to crush and dominate in his return from the quad tear at WM without stepping on the sensitive toes of SCSA.

If the WWE ever wanted to get back to entertaining their fans by surprising them every once in a blue moon, that would be the way to do it. My guess is Edge retains by some trickery, but I might be swayed by the fact that there is NO WAY I want to see Cena win.
I'm a Cena fan so what the hell do I know

Dont get me wrong, I understand why they did it. And I agree hes a top heel now. But hes still 2nd tier all time compared to guys like Austin, Rock, Angle and others. At least in my opinion. I dont see how having The Rock win it and have Hogan challenge him for both belts couldnt have worked.

Jericho could have been huge, but the problem was, he was too goofy-looking with the long hair during the Attitude era, especially since he came in on the tail end of the Attitude era.
If short-hair, suit-wearin' Jericho was around during the Attitude era, he may have been top-tier. He would have been a perfect foil for Foley.

It was a surprise, but it doesn't get me excited for anything. The Backlash main event is probably going to be Orton beating Shane and winning the title without having Triple H take the fall.
Hopefully they really shake things up next week and make a show worth watching.

- The reaction Ricky Steamboat got was awesome. That was like an old school ECW crowd chant.
- Santino still rules. Best talker on Raw.
- That tag match should been on Wrestlemania.
- Cena still gets booed out of certain buildings
- When showing the highlights of the Money in the Bank match the only showing of Christian was for 1 second showing him lying on the floor even though he got probably the loudest pop of the match. I dont get McMahons hate towards that guy.

Cena never gets Booed, Vince McMahon told me so himself when he was re dubbing the audio track to the PPVs.
As far as Christian goes I feel no sympathy for him. Its was said the TNA locker room warned him this would happen and he wanted to go for the money now love it Christian.

Its not sympathy for Christian, its sympathy for us. He couldve won that match and eventually become another main event player which is what the WWE needs more then ever. How many more fucking combinations of HHH, Edge, Cena, Orton, Batista can we go through?
Michaels and Taker are in their golden years, Kanes character is completely dead. They need new main event stars. Christian wouldve been perfect.

Killing one of their best heels didn't help the ME picture either. The only way that match would have worked was if either Hogan, The Rock, or Austin came back to face CJ and in no way should an actor knocked him out

I dont think that killed Jericho at all, I really dont. I remember awhile ago Arnold Swarzenegger knocking out HHH. Didnt hurt him at all.
But I would have much rather have seen your idea of Flair distracting the ref and having Rourke hit him with the ramrod so that Steamboat could get the pin.

WWE needs to nix this stupid "brands" bullshit they still try to serve mindless fans. It's awful and they just randomly toss a star from Smackdown/ECW into a angle w/ a RAW star constantly anyway. The draft is near useless at this point. Who watches Smackdown or ECW? Who remembers they are even on let alone what time and channel?
If Vince wasn't such a self serving homo he might have noticed Steamboat and Austin, two retired wrestlers got more pop and cheers from the crowd this weekend then anyone else on the current roster has in over 3 years. But no, he'll keep spoon feeding the same recycled garbage w/ terrible personalities to the 13 year olds who's parents shell out money for John Cena shirts and WWE action figures.

I agree with you. The draft is pointless when most the stars show up on each show anyway. Especially the last couple of years, almost every wrestler crosses over.
Personally, I prefer just one big roster just like the old days for Raw and Smackdown. And WW"ECW", well I don't really care for that show.

I understood the brand split at first, when they were actually using it to not make guys work two days of TV, plus house shows every week. But now they seem to be SD after Raw anyway so even the guys who aren't on both shows all the time are doing the same travel schedule anyway. Its definitely time to cut some of the dead weight and just have one roster on two shows again. Get rid of ECW, even if it is the only thing on Sci-Fi that gets ratings.

WWE has released a promo video for the upcoming 'WWE Superstars' weekly television show which will premiere on April 16 on WGN America.
"Expect Everything" is the tag line being used to promote the show which will feature Superstars from all three brands - RAW, Smackdown and ECW - and inter-promotional matches.
The show is expected to be taped on Monday nights with RAW with ECW moving back to its original tapings on Tuesdays with SD!
With 'Superstars' on the air, WWE will have six hours of original programming every week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

It's supposed to be NEW content. However, that tends to give in to what's easiest to capture the same ratings.
After a couple of months, we'll probably get A MATCH...surrounded by a rundown of all the other horse shit.

It would work if he did it kinda like his WWE 24/7 OnDemand channel. A monthly fee of $7 plus whatever ad money he could get.
Have different programming on different days and times. He wouldnt even have to edit out the language and gestures from the Attitude Era like he does on 24/7 now. Just air those shows later at night. Think about all the material he has. You could make an entire schedule each week. Start at 6am, run 12 hours, and then re-run those 12 hours.
Hes got every Nitro, Raw and ECW broadcast, as well as PPV's, old NWA tv shows, WCCW, AWA, WWWF and just about every old local territory. It would be so much better then it is now. Once he gets enough subscribers hed be able to convince advertisers there is a market for it. Its an idea that would work......so we will probably never see it.

Do yourself a favor and order WWE 24/7 on demand. Its $8 a month and every 2 weeks they have a new Raw and new Nitro available to watch. Right now they are on December of 07. You can see the shows actually going head-to-head.
They are a little edited (no WWF logos and such) but for the most part youll be able to see what a difference it was. Especially in the coming weeks with the reactions Austin and The Rock start to get when their music hits.

I feel bad for Cena because he looks like he's legitimately a nice guy. Also, his in-ring work has improved DRASTICALLY over the last year or so. However, he's still not great in the ring and he's also not great on the mic. He has a really good look, and WWE is just running with it. His matches are never great (though I totally marked out when Jericho broke out of the FU, then did the codebreaker), so there's resentment that he's the top guy. He really doesn't belong in the main event.

I can agree that Cena has improved, but he still just shoehorns in his "pattened" moves. Jericho can get out of the FU, but layed there and sold to a 5 Knuckle Shuffle that took 8 1/2 minutes to pull off because Cenas playing too the crowd. At least Hogan used to drop the Big Legdrop in a rather timely fashon.
I understand WHY he's in the main event as far as marketing goes, and I can even respect that. He won't be a Heel anytime soon thats for sure. Meanwhile I still don't get why Orton is in the Main Event scene on RAW and Jerichos going off to the forgotten realm of SD.

Taker has many a finisher these days, and all are good. Kane is such a jobber at this point would it matter if his finisher was an Irish Whip? And Show, as much as I used to like him, really needs to reinvent himself or perhaps move on.
Anyone remember when Show was managed by Heyman and feuding with Lesner? He wore jeans to the ring and played a great heel with Heyman in his corner. I thought that finally that phase would put him over. nope instead he Jobbed to Lesner and they pulled Heyman as his manager.

If you look at all the interviews back then, they say every big move they made, Austin going face, turning the Rock heel, etc. was the fans dictating what direction the company went.
Why would you abandon a way of thinking that basically made you a billionaire?

Ugh.. Will someone in WWE please wisen up and kill this Big Show "Punch Of Doom" finisher. I have yet to see it done once and it look anything other then awful and unconvincing.
The one he gave Jericho looked really good.
i guess they couldnt have taker, kane, and show all use the chokeslam but come up with something better than a super punch
If they let Show use something like Lesnar's F5, that would look pretty impressive from 7 feet up.

maybe the best thing we can hope for is that WWE films will go bankrupt, cost Vince a lot of money so they can downsize back to what they use to be before it went all mainstream.
I had a LOVE for the darker arenas and the "curtain" instead of the huge light show they come out of now.....reminds me of WCW Nitro with all the flash and flare.

I thought that was a pretty good angle Cena cost the show his title shot and still was able to sell being hurt instead of storming the ring like he was 100 % (The WWE does far too much of this after PPV's IMO)

WWE 24/7 is at the best possible moment right now.
For Nitro its the day after Hogan loses the belt to Sting so you can start to see the downhill slide right from the beginning.
Raw is right before the Royal Rumble that Austin wins to face HBK at Mania, so you get the very beginning of the Attitude Era.
And they also have 2 more sections starting over with the very first Raw and Nitro going head to head.
Plus you have the old World Championship Wrestling show where the Horsemen are just getting started with Magnum TA. And ols ECW shows too.
Best $8 a month I ever spent. Especially considering this weeks Raw was entirely worthless with the exception of a 1 minute Santino promo.

The jericho/mysterio match and the santino bit were the best parts of the ppv. The morrison/benjamin and Christian/Swagger matches were pretty solid too.
Besides that, the other matches were way too gimmicky. Cena has the stupid superman gimmic going and I give Orton about another 3 weeks to keep his title. The writers have no freaking idea how to write the hardy feud and they reused the old slap the ref gag for Orton/Batista.

Valid point. But it was very slow-paced until the last 2 or 3 minutes.
Cena/Big Show was so predictable. Is there anybody who has watched more than a few weeks of WWE that thought they'd have Big Show win?
Orton/Batista was nothing more than a typical Raw finale.
The video packages also need to end real soon. Every match doesn't need a ten minute history/build-up, as anybody who would be watching a PPV already has seen these packages a million times. Let TNA over-hype non-exciting feuds. Add in the customary 10-minute entrance by people like Edge, Cena, Taker (when he's around), and you have less than an hour of actual show in a three hour PPV.

It's also much easier to reschedule a game from a series where they play every 3rd day. The Nuggets game can be played the following night if necessary. It's not like TNT has anything other than Law and Order reruns.
