Great wine from Australia, tastes good and wont put a dent in your wallet and you dont have to be a high class yuppie to appreciate this. Anyone else like Yellowtail?

The best wine for the dollar is from Mendoza, Argentina. They have great Cabernets and Merlots. I'm talking $5 -$8 per bottle.

Argentina is this fifth largest wine producer in the world!

I don't know. I've had a few OK glasses of wine, but most of it tastes like wet balls to me.

Pass the whiskey.

i'm no connouseiur, but i've tried a couple yellowtail varieties and
liked them all. the first bottle i bought was simply out of curiosity,
"australian and cheap. sounds like a winner!" lately, i've been buying
something new each time (boozing is so much cheaper when it's not at
the bar), so i haven't had it in a while

I feel weird buying wine that you see posters for all over the
city. It's like I can't pick out my own wine, I need some huge
poster on the side of a bus stop to pick it out for me.
I'm a big fan of Yellowtail, especially the Shiraz. It's silky smooth and tastes better than any other brand that costs twice as much.

My latest Australian favorite is Black Swan, which is equally affordable and tasty. The Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding.

The Wine Messenger ("http://www.winemessenger.com") is a really great place to buy wine from if you aren't being last minute about and can wait to have things shipped to you. They seem to pretty much have stuff that you can't buy anywhere else and the deals are really excellent; really helpful on the phone, too. Everyone on my list is getting wine for Christmas this year!

you could find far better bottles at your local liquor store for just as cheap if not cheaper than yellow tail. They have somehow positioned themselves as the most popular cheap wine and this allows them to charge more than the smaller vineyards because people recognize the name. An especially up and coming region for very good Pinot's is Oregon. If you ask your local store, they will definitely be able to hook you up with a great bottle in the 10-15$ range.

The Niagara Falls region also makes great wine. We went wine tasting up there over the summer.

Wanted to try to do some wine tasting in the Hudson Valley, but just havent had time

I am done buying wine from the store. I went to Napa Valley last month and was blown away. Some of the best wineries in the region do not ship to distributors. I am all about the wine clubs now.

I have been to the mountain, and It was Good.

we go out on LI all the time in the summer...get like 10 people together rent a limo and just go around to the wineries on Main Road (Ossprey, Pindar, Jameson, etc.)...it is a fun time. Not to mention they have some great Cabernet Franc out there.

The Wine Trail in the Hudson Valley is pretty decent as well. The weekend of the 17 and 18th I'm doing the trail tour, including The Brotherhood Winery, the oldest in the country, and dinner. I've a couple of friends who've done it and given great reviews.

A woman I work with goes out on the East end of Long Island during the summers on tours of the various wineries, sampling wines and getting shitfaced! She says its amazing seeing these places and you get ferried around by bus. Long Island is fast becoming the Napa Valley of the East!

I love this one...
