So does this mean that Pete Rose will never be eligible for the Hall of Fame again? Reefy's website...Check out The Ron and Fez Show Logs...UPDATED!!!!!Right now you could care less about me... but soon enough you will care, by the time I'm done

wouldn't expect the veterans committee, which is now a ballot of
H.O.F.ers to do anything for him either. He's fucked, and its his own
fault. Fuck him.

quote: To gain election, a player must be selected on 75
percent or more of the ballots. Sutter was on 66.7 percent of the
ballots last year, followed by Jim Rice (59.5), Rich Gossage (55.2) and
Andre Dawson (52.3).

I'd
put Sutter and Rice in. Dawson's a maybe (400+ HR's/1500+ RBI's in the
70's and 80's) Only problem I have with Dawson is he only had 2 years
that really stand out as HOF years. Consistently hit 20-25 HR's and had
80-90 RBI's. Nice, but 87 is the only year that really knocks your
socks off.

By comparison, every healthy year Albert Belle had
was HOF caliber, he just didn't do it long enough, like
Mattingly.

Gossage is a no. I loved Jack Morris, but he wasn't a HOF type.

And Bama, get a grip. He didn't even have 400 HR's or 1500 RBI's playing in a launching pad. Please.

Look at Albert Belle's #'s

Played in 1539 games, which averages out to 10 full seasons

381 HR's

1239 RBI's

389 Doubles

.295 Lifetime BA

So a AVERAGE year for Belle was 38 HR's, 124 RBI's 40 doubles 295 BA.

He
plays two or three more years and its a no brainer. He was so
consistent I'd say Yes for him, just not on the first ballot.

BDC, do you realize Belle was a juicer?! I love how you're all 'fuck the guy who gambled, but let's put the juice head in the Hall.' Didn't Belle get caught corking his bat once too?

The corking thing I
remember, and I dont take that seriously. Studies have been done (by
major universities) showing that corking has no effect other than what
you would get using a lighter bat. So if he thought it helped, it was
all in his head. I know its against the rules of baseball, but I
consider that a misdemeanor, Steroids and Gambling to me are felonies.

I've never heard him mentioned as a juicer. I'll need some more
proof (not rumor and speculation) to go with you on that. He was a
nasty S.O.B., and it wouldn't surprise me if there were rumors spread
about him just because people hated his guts. But if you're right and
he was, then his #'s mean nothing to me and he belongs nowhere near the
hall.

If you have any proof, please post it. I honestly have never seen any.

No, it's true I have zero concrete evident to support my claim that Belle's a juicer. However with what we know now about that era of baseball, through Canseco and that recent ESPN Mag article, I honestly find it rather safe to assume that Albert Belle was a part of those who turned to roids to help enhance their careers. Sure, it's nothing more than speculation but I honestly believe to deny it would be pure foolishness. Way more players than we have ever dreamed once were/currently are on steroids.
