I have a copy of the song, but I'm at work right now. I'll post links when I get home.
I think there ended up being three versions of that song - first there was the backing track version (which is what I think they played yesterday) with just Tender, then the one in studio (live) with Kathy and Tender, and finally the version they played the most, which was the live version plus drop-ins from the meltdown sprinkled through it.
I'd rather have hope in my soul than soap in my hole...

I had never heard the one they played on XM the other day; it was
void of guitar if I recall. I can put it up if someone really wants it.
Here are the other two:

Yeah, that was the first time I heard this version as well. I was used to the one with Kathy singing along, and the one with the drops added. I think Kathy singing added a lot. The one they played Thursday sounded kinda barren.

My favorite was the live (with Kathy) version. Her backups added so much... especially with her inflection on the "wha-wha-wha's". I also liked Fez's reaction, after the song ended.

Yip the live version was great. Bring back Tender Pullman I
say. The two songs he did were better than anything Perry ever
did.... Friday Night Lights and Meltdown Song are fantastic.
one day you'll wake up and realise...I love that guy.

The Fez meltdown song is okay, but I always thought the Friday Night Lights one was godawful, and just grated further on me with each subsequent listen. Plus, if you view it as a parody song, it's a parody song that doesn't parody anything and doesn't attempt to be funny. Give me "Fat Baby" over that any day.

I doubt you'll see Tender back at all. The tried to get him back after his awkward confrontation when he thought he had been sleighted by the show, and he apparently had no interest in returning.

[/quote]

I totally agree Mikeyboy. I hated that Friday Night Lights song. It was painful to listen to. Fat Baby, on the other hand, is a classic!

It's also one of the longest. As far as the FNL song - yeah, it seemed to get worse and worse each time Ron made them play it. By the time they played it on their last night there, it really was like listening to a violation take place. It is fun to quote now and then, and now kind of reminds me of the "Patty Duke" theme song - something that tells a story no one wants to know. But admit it Mikeyboy - the real reason you're upset about the song is because you were there the night Tender penned the song, and he didn't include you. I'd be sad too if I was you and was dissed like that.

Sadly - like his band from the 80's, he has no staying power. He pulled a "terrell owens" with Ron and Fez live on the air in DC - complaining that they don't respect him or give him propper credit.

Flanders on the Simpsons/Tender Pullman.....hmmmmm yeah that's the ticket.I heard the new Perry song"Fatty Pneumonia" today and enjoyed it when Ron started singing it too, getting into the hook.keep up the good work.I didn't know Crazy Jen did such a great impression of the Little Rascals Stimie.Maybe songs about Crazy Jen & her hot dog cart is something that BoBo could pull off. She's tired of workin thes blue collar jobs/on the cart or off the cart/on the wagon/off the wagon. All she wants is a TV SHOW...is that so much to ask? Dirty Water dogs & Hell's Kitchen Dreams.Lifestyles of the meat and taters.
