I'm not sure if anybody had the pleasure of reading the Jason Whitlock article on Weis' contract extension.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=whitlock/051101

Apparently he stands so strongly behind it that he's refused to do any television or radio spots regarding it.

To imply that Willingham's firing and Weis' sunsequent extension are in any way due to racism is ridiculous.

Look about 100 other places and you can find a hint of racism but its a stretch to do it here.

If Willingham was fired becuause he was black then was he hired for the same reason ?

Is he a product of his own affirmative action ?

The fact is he sucked as a coach, sucked as a recruiter and sucked as a mentor.

Now I dont think Weis deserved an extension after only going 5-2.

I dont care if he was going to go to the NFL.

That would've been his choice.

I do think that he'll make a positive impact on recruiting something that Willingham never did.

Watch and see his tenure at Washington.

He'll be forced from there withing the next 6 years.

Will UW be racist for firing him too ?

Jason Whetlock will be on the Dan Patrick Radio Show today.

Im sick of every black columnist screaming racism and this guy leads the pack go back and look at his articles. This guy is a flat out racist. He is a race baiter and he makes a living off of doing this crap, but because he is black he isn't called out on it.

Jason Whetlock earlier this week called Andrew Bogut another "Big White Stiff" yet there is no outcry for his firing like with Rush Limbaugh. If a white columnist called Eddie Curry another "Big Fat Black Center" the writer woudld be forced to apologize and probably lose his job and be labeled a racist.

Jason Whetlock is a bigot plain and simple, he hates white people and thats all there is to it, people like him make me so fucking angry i want to punch him in the face spit in his eye and then piss on him when he is down.

Jason Whitlock is a moron, but I think there's some
truth to what he's saying. I was shocked to hear Weis got an extension
at all, forget about 10 year extension. And he's right, Willingham had
a better start, he seemed like the second coming the way he burst onto
the scene. I have no clue what the difference is.

Yeah he was 8-0 but then he went 13-15 after that with losses to the likes of Pitt and BYU.

Now we dont know how Weis' next 28 games will turn out but I'd like to bet he wont be 13-15 and if he is he'll be fored as well.

The article claims that Willingham went 8-0 using Bod Davies QB and that he never got tuse his won recruit ( Quinn ).

Well he had Quinn for 2 years and did nothing with him while Weis's has had him for 7 games and already has him #1 in TD passes for a season.

Willingham was awful. I wasnt against his hiring origianlly but as the games went on I knew he was the problem more than the cure.

as a Chiefs fan and a daily reader of the KC Star its fair to say Whitlock is an asshole. he stretches for a racist angle all the time.

I'm a huge Notre Dame fan and I gotta admit, its a little
peculiar. Ty was 7-0 in his first 7 games while Weis, even
though the games were really close, is 5-2.

Now i love Charlie
but why give him a 10 year extension? Just to keep him away from
NFL teams. He hasn't proved SHIT yet. Whitlock says it best:
"Charlie Weis has not proven that he's the second coming of Joe
Paterno,
or Jimmy Johnson, or Pete Carroll, or even Bob Stoops. Charlie Weis has
not won one football game that he wasn't supposed to."

The
bottom line is that Ty's first year team started 8-0 and looked like
they were on their way to a national championship and within 3 years he
was gone. And this isn't even Charlie's recruit's. Who know if he
can do that yet?

Having said that, i do think he's gonna be an awesome coach and i hope he earns this extension.

That's the point. How can you be so impressed
with what Weis did that you do something so completely stupid when
before another coach did something even more impressive and he was
fired as soon as possible.

And it wasn't Whitlock's column that made me think this, it's what I thought the second I saw the story.

Well lets see while Ty Willingham was winning in a watered down PAC-10 at Stanford and losing games at ND, Charlie Weiss was doing what, oh yeah winning superbowls and turning Tom Brady into pretty much a HOF QB.

The last straw was the USC game for Willingham last year.

And Charlie Weiss has signed an impressive class of recruits this year, while Willingham never had a recruiting class in the Top 15

What does he mean ND hasnt won a game they werent supposed to ?

All I heard before the start of the season was that ND would be 1-5 after its first 6 games.

Obviously somebody, namely the pollsters, thought ND shouldnt win at least 4 of those games as the teams they were going to play were ranked and ND wasnt.

If you beat the #3 team when you're not even #25, no matter how bad that team turns out, you obviously won a game you werents supposed to or else you'd have been ranked higher no ?

So the wins against then #23 Pitt, then #3 Mich, and then #22 Purdue, all on the road, were supposed to be wins ?

And with that point Willingham constantly lost games he was supposed to win.

Ty Willinghams opponents the year he started 8-0:

MD, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, Pitt, air force, and FSU

And look at the off year teams like Michigan and FSU had that year and it is pretty watered down
