<p>For me, I'm very excited to see how my NY Knicks do this season.&nbsp; Some people they'll make the playoffs, some don't think they will.</p><p>With Larry Brown coaching, I'm optimistic.&nbsp; I just hope this year's team plays exciting basketball instead of the way they were for the past couple of years.</p><p>One can only hope for a brighter future.</p>

I went and bought NBA League Pass for this season on my DirecTv. So far I've watched the Knicks game, the Warriors/Hawks last night, and the Lakers first game. Tonight I watched the Heat/Pacers and now the second Lakers game. I'm gonna try and pay serious attention to the game this yeat, we'll see how it goes.

<p>Hey...I'm hearing tonight could possibly be the worst match up on paper in NBA history....</p><p>Hawks (2-12)&nbsp;at Raptors (1-15)</p><p>&nbsp;</p><span class="gamepackagebody">ATLANTA (ESPN.com news services) -- The <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=atl">Atlanta Hawks</a> host the <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=tor">Toronto Raptors</a> tonight and, if records are the measuring stick, it's the worst regular-season match-up in NBA history. </span><span class="gamepackagebody"><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Hawks are 2-12. The Raptors are looking to snap a six-game skid and still are searching for their first road victory. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sporting one of the league's youngest teams, Atlanta has gotten off to a rough start this season with an offense averaging just 88.1 points per game -- among the league's worst. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Hawks were outmatched in Wednesday's 96-74 loss to Miami. <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3745">Zaza Pachulia</a> had 17 points and 11 rebounds and <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3268">Al Harrington</a> added 16 and nine for Atlanta, which fell to 1-5 at home. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Toronto is the only team that has fewer wins than Atlanta, managing just a victory over the Heat on Nov. 20. <p>I gotta give credit where its due, thats an incredible performance. As a guy that averages about 8 points a game in a mens league (mostly all ex-college guys, willingboro NJ)&nbsp;I'm happy to hit 15. Toronto is one of the worst teams in the league, but guess cant hold that against him they are still professionals. Guessing he's trying to finally beat Allen Iverson for scoring title (and Iverson is the purest scorer I've ever seen in my lifetime).&nbsp;Dont understand why after awhile the&nbsp;Raptors didnt just start fouling the sh*t out of him. Not little fouls but shoulder&nbsp;slamming hard against the floor impacts, things that would effect his game. &nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>edit: btw the top single game scoring list from nba.com... its basically all Wilt Chamberlain</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3" width="375" align="left" border="0"><tr><td class="redBrownBG" align="center" width="375" colspan="4"><a name="list">TOP SINGLE-GAME SCORERS (60-PLUS) <div /></a></td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td class="lightBrownBG"><strong>Pts.</strong></td><td class="lightBrownBG">&nbsp;</td><td><strong>Date</strong></td><td><strong>Opp.</strong></td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>100</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>March 2, 1962</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>81</td><td>Kobe Bryant, L.A.L.</td><td>Jan. 22, 2006</td><td>Tor.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>78</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Dec. 8, 1961 (3OT)</td><td>L.A.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>73</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Jan. 13, 1962</td><td>Chi.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>73</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>Nov. 16, 1962</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>73</td><td>David Thompson, Den.</td><td>April 9, 1978</td><td>Det.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>72</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>Nov. 3, 1962</td><td>L.A.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>71</td><td>Elgin Baylor, L.A.L.</td><td>Nov. 15, 1960</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>71</td><td>David Robinson, S.A.</td><td>April 24, 1994</td><td>L.A.C.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>70</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>March 10, 1963</td><td>Syr.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>69</td><td>Michael Jordan, Chi.</td><td>March 28, 1990 (OT)</td><td>Cle.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>68</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Dec. 16, 1967</td><td>Chi.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>68</td><td>Pete Maravich, N.O.</td><td>Feb. 25, 1977</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>67</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>March 9, 1961</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>67</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Feb. 17, 1962</td><td>St.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>67</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Feb. 25, 1962</td><td>N.Y.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>67</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>Jan. 11, 1963</td><td>L.A.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>66</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, L.A.L.</td><td>Feb. 9, 1969</td><td>Pho.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>65</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Feb. 13, 1962</td><td>Cin.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>65</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Feb. 27, 1962</td><td>St.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>65</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, Phi.</td><td>Feb. 7, 1966</td><td>L.A.L.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>64</td><td>Rick Barry, G.S.</td><td>March 26, 1974</td><td>Por.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>64</td><td>Elgin Baylor, Min.</td><td>Nov. 8, 1959</td><td>Bos.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>64</td><td>Michael Jordan, Chi.</td><td>Jan. 16, 1993*</td><td>Orl.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>63</td><td>Elgin Baylor, L.A.L.</td><td>Dec. 8, 1961***</td><td>Phi.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>63</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>Nov. 26, 1964</td><td>Phi.</td></tr><tr class="lightBrownBG"><td>63</td><td>Wilt Chamberlain, S.F.</td><td>Dec. 14, 1962</td><td>L.A.L.</td></tr><tr class="

The point is, Kobe never helps his teammates. In fact, he's hurting them. Kwame Brown is playing more mintues than last year and STILL has worse numbers. Same thing with Lamar Odom, who is normally a good player. The team has adopted the "Let's watch Kobe for 48 minutes" offense. And the team hates him. He scores 81 points and gets nothing more than a couple high fives from his teammates. You could plug in anyone around Kobe right now and they'd fail. He doesn't know how to play winning basketball, and he's not about to change right now in his prime and his ego in the stratosphere. He's a selfish, ignorant clone of Jordan and I'd bet that never changes, and he never wins another championship. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this team implodes and doesn't make the playoffs.

<p>HBox, I do agree with you that Kobe is a totally selfish player. And everybody knows he doesn't make his teammates better and for that they can't stand him. Just look at Odom, he looks completely lost out there every time he suits up. He's a player with pretty decent talent, Kobe maybe brings out 40% of his worth and I might be going a little high there.&nbsp; That's my biggest criticism of Kobe, he has all the talent in the world but what sets him apart from the true Jordanesque greatness level is his ability to make those around him better. However, I'm not so sure ANYBODY could win with the roster that is assembled around him. Is that roster Kobe's own fault? Yes, some of the blame falls on him but not all. What is preventing them from going out and grabbing Ron Artest? The fact that Buss says Odom is not available. Odom&nbsp;should be the first one shipped out in exchange for Artest, in my opinion that would be taking a step in the right direction. Sure there are questions like how&nbsp;would Kobe and Ron coexist, but that wouldn't be answered until we actually saw it and&nbsp;I don't think they could&nbsp;be much worse than what they have right now. My point is it's easy to shit on Kobe right now because of all that's gone on with him in the past 2 years, but I will not deny that what I saw last night was true greatness and something I might not see again in my lifetime.&nbsp;Put some better ballers around him and maybe he wont have to go out &nbsp;and score 81.</p><p>EDIT: i forgot to add this in, Kwame Brown sucks.....regardless of Kobe. </p><p>&nbsp;<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~bob80/RFnetGameHHH.jpg" border="0" /></p>

Im glad HBox is on this side. Ive been thinkin for the past 2 weeks while Kobe was scoring 45 and 50 every game and the team was struggling to win the game. How bout you try to use teammates. You know Pippen and Jordan each had 40 in the same game once. Kobe isnt a teammate, he wants to be the show, and he will find out how hard that is in March and April<br />

If I were in charge of the Lakers, I wouldn't want Artest anywhere near Kobe. Unlike Odom, who just sulks and looks depressed, Artest would make the situation difficult for everyone, to put it lightly. A fight would be inevitable.

Wait, didn't Kobe already get into a fight with someone on his team already this season?

Anyway, I also doubt many players could win with that supporting cast. But guys like Jordan, Bird, Magic, even Shaq in his prime could turn this team into a contender. Kobe can't. Fucking 21 year old LeBron James is much better and making his teammates better ALREADY! The lakers are a sideshow, Kobe's sideshow, and that's how he likes it. He got his rings, so now he can go ahead and spend the rest of his career shamelessly and recklessly chasing records. He'll put up sick numbers, but the only time he won a championship was when he was forced to play second fiddle to a true great one. Which is why he'll never be in that upper echelon.

He's the SG version of Karl Malone who was lucky enough to win a ring riding on someone else's back.

<p>Snoogs, my whole point in this is that there literally are no other teammates for Kobe to use. There is nobody anywhere near a Pippen to play to Kobe's Jordan. </p><p>And while I do think that Bird, Magic and Jordan would do better with the current Lakers I still would find it hard to believe they could actually be considered contenders. We'll never know because it's a fictional scenario, it's just the supporting cast is so bad I don't see them being successful with anybody. &nbsp;</p>

Kings better get some help, 76ers dominated them last night despite a career high 44 from Mike Bibby (guess he's showing off since his Dad, an ex-76er is an assistant coach in Philly now). They miss Webber badly, was an awful trade they made (Kenny Thomas, Corliss Williamson and Brian Skinner for Webber .. ugg). Give them credit for trying for Artest, but the Kings are out of it for years. Alot of longterm contracts on that team.

<p>On espn.com today Skip Bayless wrote an article where he claims that Larry Brown is now actually HAPPY with the moves Isiah has made. Sometimes I wanna drive to where they film Cold Pizza in the morning, wait outside for them to finish filming, then walk up to Bayless and punch him square in the jaw. </p>

<font color="Navy"><font size="2">Skip Bayless is the archetype for everything that is wrong not just with journalism, but all forms of media today. He has no tangible POV, he just, with every single thing he writes, finds the most outrageous postion and writes an article in favor of it. If he were in politics he'd be Ann Coulter, if he were in entertainment he'd wirte for the Enquirer. He is an empty shell that can write. He is, quite literally, nothing.</font></font><br />

I would say Skip personifies everything I hate about the modern sports talk culture in every single way...

But then i'd be letting this moron off the hook....

Not only does Mariotti LOVE the sound of his own voice, he also thinks he's never wrong, AND he had Mr. Tony kicked off the radio in Chicago to put himself there, earning Mr. Tony's undying wrath as "the guy who's name will not be metioned"

We could go back and forth all day with these idiots until we listed 90% of sportswriters. What a sorry profession.<br />

Well...most of them do stink, but there are some who I do like, for instance Bob Ryan, Jackie MacMullen, Mike Holley, JA Adande, Mr. Tony, Junior Feinstein, Richie Justice, Bill Simmons...Wilbon's okay in doses...

<p>For what its worth, proud of my 76ers post-allstar. Shorthanded and playing really well, shooting the lights out. They made a big deal on local radio about Kyle Korver and his inability to produce, so he responded by getting to the free throw line like 20 shots in 2 games and basically capping 2 wins. Keep an eye on Steven Hunter and Shavlik Randolph, gonna have long NBA careers.</p><p>Allstar Dunkoff was a joke, Iguodala won that contest as soon as he did that behind the backboard dunk.</p><p>Christ I look like Ferralls disjointed msgs. </p>
