So there's this local political commercial running now, I guess it's
for assembly, and this commercial just tears apart "Trenton Insider"
(commercial's words) Jennifer Beck for not passing a Drunken Driving
Bill to lower the legal limit for DWI, and saying that she is making
the streets "unsafe". 
Now, of course, this would be all well and good, but the said bill would drop the drunken driving legal limit from .10 to .05
- the lowest in the nation and just a really, really bad idea - because
there is a world of difference between .10 and .05.... and having a DUI
limit of .05 would clog the courts with endless cases of DUI's and loss
of licenses.Just an interesting perspective - she did the right thing, yet she's getting killed for it.

This political season has been full of this, like
Forrester's ads where he accuses Corzine of voting over a hundred times
for higher taxes when the vast majority of the time he was actually
voting for smaller tax cuts. Or Corzine's ads where he is essenetially
implying that Forrester is pro-life simply because he supported John
Roberts as a Supreme Court justice. Or Forrester's ads where he makes
it look like Corzine is in bed with Mob bosses. Or Corzine's ads where
he says that Forrester will raise property taxes because he would
eliminate rebate checks, even though he'd cut property taxes so much
that it would more than make up for the rebate. Or Corzine's ad where
he says that the reason drug  prices are so high is because
Forrester owns a drug benefit company that's gouging consumers. I could
go on and on.

No one ever gets anything done in NJ.  It's always gonna be expensive, dirty and corrupt.  I don't think I'm even going to vote at all this year.  That would be the 1st time I ever missed an election day, but I'm just so sick of it all.

LOVE how Corzine leaves out that Forrester's "200% Property Tax
Increase" was a public approved move in WEST WINDSOR - one of the
richest towns in the state - and the reason for the increase was to
make the public schools in West Windsor on par or better than other
schools in the state. I will vote for Forrester for
one reason and one reason only - the Republican governors who have been
in office during my life have made the state better.  The
Democratic governors consistently shit on it, make the state a worse
place, and embarass the state. And before you jump
on me, I did vote Corzine for Senate.  Reasoning?  If a guy
spent that much money to become senator, you know he wants to do the
best job possible.    Bad move on my part.

I will vote for Forrester
for one reason and one reason only - the Republican governors who have
been in office during my life have made the state better.  The
Democratic governors consistently shit on it, make the state a worse
place, and embarass the state.I'm
not voting for Forrester for the simple fact that he's run twice, once
for Senate and once for Governor, and he's had the same message both
times: "I'm not the other guy." He got caught flat-footed when
Torricelli was replaced by Lautenberg and lost the race to a guy who
could barely speak in public because Forrester had no message. Once
Torricelli was gone he had nothing scandalous to point out about his
opponent and was exposed as the empty shell of a candidate he is.He's
done the same thing this election. It's worked better because of the
widespread corruption in Democratic officials. But he hasn't shown
anything to to link it Corzine. So his commercials are pretty much
"Democrats are corrupt, Corzine's a democrat, I'm a Republican, VOTE
FOR ME!" Why is Corzine corrupt? Why is Forrester not? Who knows,
Forrester seems to have no interest in explaining why. He's a stiff,
and the only reason he won the primary is because he could finance his
own campaign. So since I've agreed with just about everything Corzine's
done in the Senate, I'm voting for him.

Forrester's main push has been reducing property taxes, and stopping the corruption that is running wild in Trenton. Considering
that his own political office held was being a GOP Mayor in a mid-size
NJ town, I would much rather have him than a Democratic (!!) US Senator
(!!!!!) from New Jersey (!!!!!!!!) Besides, isn't
going from US Senator to Governor a demotion?  Maybe not. 
We're in the middle of 16 years of Governors-to-presidents, and you can
add another 12 years if you count the whole Reagan regime.

me also take this opportunity to express how much I hate newspaper
endorsements, and editorials from the newspaper in general. One of the
first things I was taught in my journalism classes is that, as a
reporter, NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK. Your job is to report the news.
That's it. Just tell people what happened and keep as much of your POV
out of it as possible. There are people who get paid to write
editorials, and they get paid that money because people do care what
they think, usually because of their quality of writing, sometimes
because they are incredible nutjobs. Either way, no one cares what
editors at a newspaper think, and using the name of the paper to hide
behind in these awful editorials doesn't change that. Just focus on
reporting the goddamned news, it's not like a lot of papers have been
doing a good job of that lately.
