I wish I could go back in time. Back when I could get on the subway and not worry about who was standing next to me-back when I could let my son play out in front of the house alone-back when my wife could go to work and I would have dinner waiting for her knowing she would get home ok-back when I didn't have to worry about all of these things!

Ah. The good old days when the only virus in the "mail" you had to worry about had names like Sircam and ILoveYou.

Reeshy, my man, I hear you loud and clear. A lot of the youngsters here on the board can't really relate, but it wasn't all that long ago that the world was a much safer, saner place.
My mother was perhaps the world's most overprotective mom, but when I think back to the freedom I had as a 10 year old kid, it's probably far more than any child today is able to have.
I used to ride my bike clear across town to the convenience store to get milk, bread, or whatever else my mother needed for dinner that night (we only had one car in the family, and dad took that to work). Then I was allowed to go to the luncheonette and buy myself baseball cards or comic books with the change, or hang out and play pinball for a while.
I also was an altar boy (believe it or not), and would walk or ride my bike 2 miles to the church during the summer to serve a funeral or Wedding or a mass.
It's pretty sad that most kids today will never be allowed to be so independent, and that most parents have to worry every second of every day.

Ahh. the good old days. I'd run over to the Ol's swimmin hole with Charles and Willamina. We'd roll the bottom of our knickers up, and have a gay time. Ahh, those were the gayest of times.
