Well mine certainly isn't Monica Lewinsky or Paula Poundstone.
I would have to say from the past it would be Annie Oakley. She proved in a time where men dominated everything, that she was just as good or even better at their own trade.
From the present I would have to say any female professional sports celebrity. I'm also going to say my mom for personal reasons of what she has endured in her lifetime.

I kind of always liked Amelia Earhart-she went where no man has ever gone before!

Over the summer I met this
90something year old woman who
back in the day had gone to
college, gone to grad school,
gotten a PhD and then gone on
to direct some big marine
research station down in
Flordia that I forget the name
of. That would totally kick
ass TODAY, but holy shit, I
mean she must have been doing
thi in what, the 40s and 50s?
She rules!
But I have to say that I don't
really have any idols or rols
models, per se. Male or
female. I can say as far as
say, science goes, this
person, or as far as sports
goes, that person, but as an
overall big shining example, I
haven't really got any.
Amelia Earhart and Annie Oakly
certainly are ass-kickers.
How about a fictional one?
Scarlett O'Hara but only when
she wasn't pining over Rhett.
She knew what she wanted and
went out and got it.

my mother has and will always be my #1 role model. the reasons are endless.
also, penny arcade, a spoken word artist/performer has had a big influence on me. she's like my fuckin godmother. i love her. a lot of my motivation comes from her and from watching her perform. she is brilliant.
the women that surround me on an everyday basis.
leslie feinberg, barbara krueger, bell hooks, angela davis, lizzie borden, emma goldman, nomy lamm, etc...
so many awesome women to list. all have had a positive influence on me.
