I think he really freaked that chick out and not a
funny freak out like he did to Hillary Duff. Also, I'm kinda disappointed Jim didn't do the bad acting bit he does on O&A.
It was good, but not as good as last time. I thought he absolutely killed that time.

quote:
what was the friends bit? never seen it!

It was when he talked about smiling for photos. There was an episode of Friends where Chandler had the same problem, when trying to pose for a portrait. He had the same facial expression and slump.

(Not that I'm gay enough to have ever watched Friends. I just heard about it... really, I swear)

He may not realise it. I'm sure there are more than a few people w/ the same problem. After all... eventually all jokes and songs get repeated in some way or another.

And nothing that's going to be said, hasn't been said better before, by someone who hasn't said anything worth saying in years," someone once said.

In the grand scheme it really doesn't matter. There are proven hacks out there that rip off other comedians and material and pass it off as original. I don't think anyone could ever accuse Jim Norton of ever doing that and not being original. It's like you said - it's something that has happened before, and others will more than likely think of it themselves and find it funny.

My favorite example of someone being accused of ripping off an act, was when John Fogerty was sued for ripping off one of his own songs. The plaintiff said he ripped off a song he wrote when he was with CCR (after he put out his first successful solo album in the 1980's).

The basis of the defense was, when you're dealing with music that uses 3 basic chords, you're bound to have songs that sound the same. Witnesses for the defense were musicians (such as BB King). They actually played guitar in court. I've always wished I was there. Sounds like a fun trial!
