Went and got me a Delphi MyFi and a year of XM service, feeling pretty good about it. Got it at myradiostore.com, good shit there.

Couple things:

1) The antenna situation rots. The car antannae works fine, but the wire is impossibly long and inconvenient, and the house antenna I haven't tried yet. Is there a smaller portable antenna I can get to use this thing when I'm running?

2) What speakers would be best to get to be able to listen in the car without the headphones.

3) Any gadgets I can get to enhance the listening experience?

Any tips y'all have would be appreciated.

Tenbats, where the fuck are you???

was just released. It is a new clip-on antenna for the MyFi that
supposedly works MUCH better than the included antenna. It should help
you get reception while running.
I got XM service this morning. Except it's not working, alls I get are
the preview channel and the two emergency ones. The people at XM411.com
told me it could take as long as two hours. I waited and nothing, so I
did a refresh and I'll leave it on while I'm at work.
Sometimes it takes a while. It's important to leave
the receiver on until it's activated, so don't turn it
off.
Dont drive anywhere on the southern state parkway with it, too many overpasses.

If
you have the time, mount your car antenne near the rear passenger door,
and run the wire undeneath the carpet, it takes a while, but you get a
cleaner install.

That is good advice. I just threw the antenna on my dashboard, as far as it would go up to where the defrost vents meet the windshield, and it worked OK.

Mounting it to my roof gave me less dead zones, but I still get fucked up in backwoods areas of NJ and PA. And cloudy days are worse.

By mounting the antenna on the back 1/3 of the roof, pretty much center, I am virtually dead zone free. I took some care to run the wire under the carpet and out the back window. When I get the time, I will do a HQ wire run, and totally hide it. Make it look all professional and shit. But for now, I'm good!

Yeah I called them a couple of hours ago. Guy said my activation "didn't submit". Whatever that means. It's working now.

Just thought I'd add that the night I turned on my XM, it didn't do shit for hours. It was getting late so I left it in the car and just went to sleep. Got up the next morning, and it STILL didn't work. But in the middle of my drive to work, it just suddenly turned on and I had every channel. Very freaky.

Works fine now.

I must be in the minority. It took about 3 minutes for them to activate my TAO XM2Go.

Same with my TAO...I think it took about 3 minutes...I just bought a
SKYFI2 for work, and that one took about 30 seconds...Haven't had any
problems yet...I think I'm down to about an hour of TV now a week(non
sports) XM is really great...couldn't be happier
The Myfi is a transmitter, you dont need speakers in your car. Set the
broadcast band on the Myfi to a station that is clear on your radio
dial, then tune your radio to that station and you hear the Myfi thru
your car stereo system. Works for the Skyfi 2 and the Roady 2 also.

There's also a pair of headphones with built-in antenna that you can try out.
