Pre-ATMs

<p>ATM's are everywhere and make getting money obtainable (if you have money in your account <img border="0" src="http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/wink.gif" />).
But when I was growing up, from what I re-call, my folks would need to
go the bank and withdraw what money they needed for that day or week.
And wouldn't be able to get money until they went to the bank again
(whenever that may be). Boy did they know how to stretch that dollar.
Don't know how they did it. I don't think I'd be able to do that, since
I'm used to just going to the ATM whenever I need to get money. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Anyone got any pre-ATM stories about themselves or their folks and money.&nbsp;</p>

Also there was this time before the internet when people had to actually go to libraries.&nbsp; I don't know how those people did it.

How did people get money when they went to A.C. back in the day and lost their initial role? Who were the ATMs then?<br />

i always liked going to the bank. i had to be one of the last people at my job to get direct deposit. the older the bank the better.&nbsp; i'm not convinced that you spend more money due to atm's but i believe you spend more if you keep more on your person.&nbsp; and i hate when i have to pay a fee. i have pnc and all the wawas have pnc atms. one stop shopping for your coffee and cash

As a contractor I still have to take my checks to the bank for deposit. ~~ Back in the day, what I remember, whenever my folks needed cash they would go to the grocery store and would just write a check for above the amount of the food to get cash.

i remember my parents used to go to the supermarket and cash a check if
they could not get to the bank... they also used to use alot more
checks and credit cards then i do now... almost everything i do is on
the debit card...<br />
