When I was young when I played war and we were at War we did 10 cards then flipped. Now I see everyone doing 3 cards and flipping. Did anyone else do 10?

It was always 3 when I played. 10 sounds like you need to reshuffle way too much unless you play with 2 decks. And that just makes a long game even longer.

Having a war on top of a war was always fucking cool. I remember hitting a 3rd war on top of the other 2. That was like hitting the lottery to a little kid when you came out on top. Going through all the face down cards to see your spoils was the best part.

Funk is correct. It is always one card at a time unless there is a war. Then it becomes 3 face down and 1 up. In this case, the winner gets a big fuckin' score.

And yes, multiple wars kick ass!!

Sorry, I got confused. I thought Funkman meant he only played WAR one card at a time, no wars. That would never work.

But yea, one card at a time, higher winning the small battle, and when the same card value came up, you would WAR. Those seem to be the standard rules and the ones I played by.

When I shuffled my cards for the next round, I kept about 3-4 high
cards on the bottom. So if I needed a high card to take out another
high card, I just pulled it from the bottom. Won many a war that way.
Now only if I did it during one of the poker games.........nah, I don't
do that stuff anymore.
