These guys sure don't!

"You can support the troops but not the president." Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas

"[The] president . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home." Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa.

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning. I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss.

" The president began this mission with very vague objectives. ... There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the president started this thing, and there still is no plan today." Rep Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is." Gov. George W. Bush, R-Texas.

*SHEEPY HORN*

I can also rememebr that for 8 years serving in the military wasnt a big deal and that going to Oxford was equal to serving in the Nat'l Guard.

I will admit that that is what I hate most about politics.

Its perspective.

One party can do something one time and the roles are reversed another time and the opinions also flip-flop.

Big issue was the Branch Davidian standoff.

Reagan would have done exactly what Clinton did but since it was a different party making the call the Republicans were outraged.

Same with the Elian Gonzalez issue.

here are a few more:

“American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy.”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy.”
-Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W. Bush

“Well, I just think it’s a bad idea. What’s going to happen is they’re going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years”
-Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

“I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now.
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?”
-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

“Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is.”
-Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

“This is President Clinton’s war, and when he falls flat on his face, that’s his problem.”
-Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN)

“Bombing a sovereign nation for ill-defined reasons with vague objectives undermines the American stature in the world. The international respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly.”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

Is this news to any of you? If it is, you either haven't been
following politics very long or you're just too young to have seen
Republicans and Democrats be on both sides of every issue depending on
who's ox is being gored.

One of my faves was when Clinton was
being impeached, and he was using the old Nixon arguments "They're
trying to overturn an election" and invoking presidential privelege to
block document transfers. This from the bunch that spent their whole lives thinking Nixon was the anti-Christ.

NEWS FLASH They're POLITICIANS. They'll say ANYTHING.

"You can't say you love your country, but hate your government." - Bill Clinton 1995

What
they say doesn't matter. Their opinions are meaningless, because
they're not real opinions. They're assholes, and we keep electing them.
Unless and until we cut the strings and realise that they are the
enemy, not each other, well, Nero isn't just one man this time, he's us.
