alot of Jersey people on this board in their 30's. Anyone else remember
this show? The lowest of low budget, the cheesiest of bad jokes. Led by
the worlds worst ventriloquist and his buddy, Googie. I loved this show
when I was a kid. I used to just barely get it on UHF 47 on Long
Island. Looney Skip Rooney. I remember seeing the Ramones do "Chinese
Rock" and I'm like 10 years old running around school the next day
singing a song about heroin addiction. Good times. </p><p>He's still around. (http://www.unclefloyd.com/) Book him for your next bat mitzvah </p>

<p>
The longest running local show in New Jersey history, Uncle Floyd was a
hilarious local New Jersey TV show that aired most of the 1970s. It's a
spoof of 1950s variety shows and their awful vaudeville humor, with a
cast of charming burnout dudes acting as the guests, dressed in
costumes they look like they brought from home. The memorable howling
"laugh track" is courtesy of whatever rowdy cast members are off
camera, and the whole show was filmed in front of a cardboard-brown
wall with viewer-drawn pictures tacked to it. Also, crummy, scary
puppets such as "Cuppy," a monstrous dadaist creation in a Yankees
nightshirt with a cup for a head are frequent guests. The awe-inspiring
chutzpah of Floyd Vivino was the driving force of this madness. The
Ramones were big fans. Conan O'Brien has said this was one of his
favorite shows, and if you like the demented skits on Conan, Uncle
Floyd is right up your alley. Floyd Vivino (Uncle Floyd) also plays a
mean piano, and in September of 1999, he set the Guinness record for
non-stop piano playing at 24 hours and 15 minutes.
</p>
<p> </p><p>It is so cool people remember and loved this show as much as I
did. I grew up on Long Island and nobody else ever heard of him. </p><p><img border="0" src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Ebob80/RFnetBulldogcakes3.jpg" /></p><p><a target="blank" href="http://bulldogcakes.tripod.com/index.html">My site Bully Baby</a></p>

<p>I believe the local NJ station was on the verge of bankrupcy and
had to raise money quick. Uncle Floyd was their only real asset. I remember
seeing the cast live. At the end, they sang "We don't need no
syndication" to the tune of the Pink Floyd song. </p><p>"Give me a rubberband sandwich and make it snappy!" </p><p>Artie
Delmar and Lambie was a great parody of Shari Lewis and Lambchop. Lambie was
just a dirty sock with a face drawn on with magic marker. Lambie didn't even
have a different voice, Artie would ask Lambie a question and Lambie would
respond with the SAME VOICE, only the sock's lips would move. Brilliant! </p><p> </p><p>Theres a "Best Of Uncle Floyd" on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001I553S/002-7288676-6910437?v=glance) for about $10-$20. </p>

<p>Uncle Floyd did indeed rock. And he was on double U nnnnnnnn bee see on Saturday nights at about 3a.m..</p><p>WHT was also the broadcast T.V. home of home Islander games. Well, if you called having to pay a monthly fee for a descrambler "broadcast". Chanel 9 carried many away games, but home games where on cabelvision. If you did not have cable, you had to watch the wavy lines on WHT while listening to the radio broadcast. Speaking of the radio broadcast, it was carried a few years on WALK witch was awsome because it was FM and the games sounded great. O.K., I am WAY of topic, carry on.</p>

I was on the show for two years before Mugsy, Netto, Skip and Scott. My and floyd go way back and oh yeah, I played many parts but the one everyone seems to remember was GROUCHO. Now bringing you the bearer of the bad news. MUGSY passed away. He will be missed I am sure. I remember twatching the scrambled station for breif stopages and seeing slight porno shots. Before he was on that he was on uhf channel 68. Hmm Floyd is still kicking it old schol somewhere in Jersey. We are still old buds.

<p>Favorite show as a kid, loved Uncle Floyd show. Would totally buy it on dvd if they ever compiled something. Think kid brother even sent in one of the dopey drawings he'd show. It may've been low budget but it seemed like everyone had their hearts in it and it carried the show. Good stuff, man. Good stuff. </p><p>Shame about Mugsy.</p>

<p>I loved this show...I always used to send in my drawings of KISS and wait for them to be shown. I still listen to Floyd on his Italian American Serenade show on Sundays.</p>

I bought that DVD a while ago. I loved watching Uncle Floyd. Mr. Hugo was my favorite. A buddy of mine bought that doll off of eBay and it is still one of his most prized possessions.
