<p>I hit both Av games in the NY metro area this week. Last night I got to see Svatos go off and score two goals only to just miss a third which would have tied the game and brought the Avs all the way back from 3-0 and 4-1. Unfortunately the Avs lost 5-4 due to some really bad goaltending from Aebischer (2 real bad goals). Budaj shut it down in the third after they pulled Aebischer allowing the game to get within one. However, Svatos just missed a tip in front that would have tied up the game. I know bc I was on the glass right at their net where he just missed the puck. </p><p>The Ranger game was completely different, as it played out very old school NHL. Defensive minded from the start, the Avs scored first in the second on a sweet shot from Sakic after Svatos drew a penalty that was very close to a penalty shot. Less then a minute later, Svatos hit Joe in the clear on a breakaway and he got pulled down from behind and this time was awarded a penalty shot. Sakic nailed it five hole style to score for the second time within a minute. The Rangers made it close with a late second period goal in which Kolesnik made three great saves but couldn't come up with the last one. The coverage in front on the play was terrible as Blake seemed to just watch as the Ranger player got four shots on the goalie without any pressure. After that the rookie goaltender shut it down for the Avs and probably just answered the question on who the #1 in Colorado is from here on in. I think he'll be the man with Budaj backing him up. That's right, two rookies in net for the Avs this year if Q and Lacroix make what I think is the right choice. </p><p>Cya!</p>

<p>Colorado should just trade Aebischer to Buffalo for their backup goalie Noronen. Reason being? Biron is finally winning games, and Noronen is actually pretty good(his one game against the Rangers he was fantastic even though they lost which in a way wasnt his fault..in the shootout they pulled him after he let up one goal).</p>

<p>Truth be told, I'm very happy with Kolesnik and Budaj in net for the Avs. If they indeed make a move, I'd rather them trade Aebischer for some forward depth vs. fleecing the system for a guy like Luongo (sp). Perhaps I'm wrong, but it makes the most sense to me. </p><p>On a side note, I forgot to mention I actually met Joe Sakic, John-Michael Liles, Patrice Brisebois, and Bob Boughner after the game. It was cool as shit talking hockey with JM and Sakic, especially how they may face each other soon in the olympics. Boughner added some much needed grit to the lineup last night and he was very happy to get the ice time as he'd been a healthy scratch for a few straight games. Patrice was really quiet, but a nice guy. Joe seemed embarrassed that he was the night's hero and almost didn't like the praise as he kept pushing the credit to the guys making the passes and doing the grunt work making him look good. Liles actually seemed to be into chatting hockey with the fans more then the fans. It was cool as hell to meet these guys, especially when they impress you with their humble qualities and fan friendliness. My ticket stub actually has a bunch of sigs now, the first time I ever got someone's sig in since Dan Fouts and Wes Chandler when I was 5! Go Bolts!</p>

things just keep getting worse for the devils. maybe a change in coach and the return of elias will light a fire under this team's ass.
<IMG SRC="http://home.comcast.net/~bob80/RFnetGameHHH.jpg ">
It's going to be so fucking weird seeing Lamoriello behind the bench. At first I thought this Robinson resigning thing was just Lou firing Robisnon and letting him save face, but Lou would have had a replacement if that was so.<br />

On the bright side, Vladimir Malakhov retired. McGillis should still take a few games at Albany even though he's being recalled to take Malakhov's place since he's so out of synch with the wings on the power play.

A European team is most likely gonna win the Gold Medal. I really dont see USA or Canada winning it. As much as I know Germany doesnt have a chance, Ill be rooting for them again.

Miller has been hurt all year, how can they even think to take him? And JM Liles and Schneider have plenty of speed to aid this team. The US just doesn't have as many players to pick from as Canada. And if you rule out Canada in this thing you're nuts.

Why, because it's an alphabetically sorted list with Goalies first? So you think the Canadian olympic selection squad went to work and they all thought Marty first? Doubt it. He might not even be the starter over Luongo.

<p>The Colorado scouts actually found him this past year while he was the country's number 1 goalie in the worlds. Until this year since he's come to the AHL/NHL, he was a fixture on that team for about 4 years. </p><p>On another rookie note, Marek Svatos won another game last night in the third period! It was his fucking 7th game winner on the year! This kid has just been moved up to the number one line. For the last 2-3 weeks due to injuries to Turgeon and Konowalchuk, Svatos was stuck on a line with fucking Brad May and Brett McLean! He still was productive, but now imagine what he'll put up playing with Joe Sakic and Alex Tanguay? This rookie race is the best I ever remember. Svatos is on pace to score 42 goals as a rookie. Yet he just got on Joe's line. </p><p>Here's the latest update:</p><p><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1" width="647" border="0"><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH">RK</td><td class="S1135335663923" align="left"><a title="PLAYER NAME" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=player.properName&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>Player</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="center"><a title="POSITION" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=player.position.positionCode&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>P</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="center"><a title="TEAM" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=team.displayAbbrev&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>Tm</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="GAMES PLAYED" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=gamesPlayed&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>GP</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="TOTAL GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=goals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>G</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="TOTAL ASSISTS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=assists&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>A</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><font color="#ffffff"><strong>P</strong></font></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="PLUS/MINUS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=plusMinus&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>+/-</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="PENALTY MINUTES" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=penaltyMinutes&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>PIM</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="OVERTIME GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=overtimeGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>OT</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="POWER PLAY GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=powerPlayGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>PP</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="SHORT HANDED GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=shortHandedGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>SH</u></font></a></td><td class="S1135335663923" align="right"><a title="GAME WINN

I thought this thread would help educate more people of the likes of Svatos and the kid from the Rangers. </p><p>On another note, the Avs continue to over react in the goaltending situation by pulling Budaj tonight after two goals in the first. Both were due to breakdowns by the fucking defense, not solely the goalies fault. The second one was a deflected bang bang play on the power play for fucks sake. I think Joel is really fucking up of late and he handled this goaltending situation terribly. I'm not happy with Joel, the goaltending, or the fucking D at all.</p><p><br /></p>

<p>I was VERY impressed with what I saw Nashville do to Vancouver t'other night....</p><p>Dave
Poile built the PERFECT kind of team for this kind of game...he's got
nothing but little, quick guys that can skate and move the puck...plus
he's always had d-men on his teams that could score (see the mid 90s
Caps with three 20 goal Defensemen in the same year), and Vokoun isn't
too bad in net...(he's also making noise about wanting to start for the
Czechs in the olympics over Hasek...i'm going to keep an eye on that)</p><p>I like Nashville and Ottawa in the Cup finals at this point... </p>

<p>No way in hell does Nashville make it all the way. Their goalie is top shelf, but in a playoff series they're going to get beat up. Especially since the calls will surely change. They'll get beat down by the powerful West. Especially if they play the Wings, the Flames, LA and the Canucks if they get a goalie. <img src="http://members.aol.com/dxixrxt/spoon2.jpg" border="0" /></p><p> It's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!</p>

The Devils released Mogilny. I don't get it. He was having a pretty good season. Now the Elias return improves the team only marginally. I hope Lamoriello has a plan. Maybe he's just writing off this season and trying to shed all the dead weight and rebuild for next year.<br />

By the way the answer to my question is that 4 of 6 games last night were shutouts! Crazy. I'd push that we're heading back to the pre-strike game if not for the 10 power plays the Avs alone faced and killed last night. Just a weird fluke that seems to happen more often then one would expect.

<p>The unbalanced schedule is really pissing me off right now bc it favors decent teams in shitty divisions. The Wings and Preds get to play the pond scum/wussy B's (Blues, Blue Jackets and Blackhawks) eight fucking times while everyone else gets them in the West get them 4 times and their own division 8 times. They need to change this shit now! The Wings and Preds aren't as good as people think. And if the Preds didn't have Vokoun, they'd be done. Take a look at the difs between divisions.</p><p><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" width="98%" border="0"><tr><td colspan="12"><font face="Arial" color="#ffffff" size="2"><strong>Western Conference</strong></font></td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH">CENTRAL</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">GP</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">W</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">L</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right"> </td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">OT</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">PTS</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">GF</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">GA</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">HOME</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">AWAY</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">L10</td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH"><a href="http://www.detroitredwings.com/"><font color="#cc3300">DETROIT</font></a></td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">39</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">26</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">10</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right"> </td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">3</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">55</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">147</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">104</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">13-6-1</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">13-4-2</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">7-2-1</td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH"><a href="http://www.nashvillepredators.com/"><font color="#cc3300">NASHVILLE</font></a></td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">38</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">24</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">11</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right"> </td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">3</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">51</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">120</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">110</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">16-4-0</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">8-7-3</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">6-4-0</td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH"><a href="http://www.chicagoblackhawks.com/"><font color="#cc3300">CHICAGO</font></a></td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">39</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">13</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">22</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right"> </td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">4</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">30</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">103</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">139</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">7-8-1</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">6-14-3</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">1-7-2</td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH"><a href="http://www.stlouisblues.com/"><font color="#cc3300">ST LOUIS</font></a></td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">37</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">10</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">22</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right"> </td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">5</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">25</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">100</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">143</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">5-12-3</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">5-10-2</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">4-5-1</td></tr><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH"><a href="http://www.bluejackets.com/"><font color="#cc3300">COLUMBUS</font></a></td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH" align="right">39</td><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH

<p>Finally the Avs are on a roll! 5 wins in a row and another great defensive performance from the D and Abby! On top of this, Svatos had yet another game winner in a 5-1 win. In fact, he tied Ovechkin for the lead in goals scored by rookies with 25 on the year by netting his second hat trick on the year! Hear's the latest stats. Pay attention to game winners (Svatos leads the whole NHL), shot percentage, ice time and realize how accurate this kid is. He pretty much plays so much less then both other top rookies that it adds up to a game extra for every third game they all play in terms of ice time. This is mainly bc the Avs are in the playoff hunt and the others aren't even close. </p><p><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1" width="647" border="0"><tr><td class="HEADLINEGRAPH">RK</td><td class="S1136889254156" align="center"><a title="POSITION" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=player.position.positionCode&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>Pos</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="left"><a title="PLAYER NAME" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=player.properName&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>Player</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="center"><a title="TEAM" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=team.displayAbbrev&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>Team</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="GAMES PLAYED" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=gamesPlayed&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>GP</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="TOTAL GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=goals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>G</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="TOTAL ASSISTS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=assists&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>A</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><font color="#ffffff"><strong>P</strong></font></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="PENALTY MINUTES" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=penaltyMinutes&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>PIM</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="PLUS/MINUS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=plusMinus&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>+/-</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="SHORT HANDED GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=shortHandedGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>SH</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="POWER PLAY GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=powerPlayGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>PP</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="GAME WINNING GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=20062ALLARSAll&sort=gameWinningGoals&viewName=summary"><font color="#000000"><u>GW</u></font></a></td><td class="S1136889254156" align="right"><a title="GAME TYING GOALS" href="http://www.ronfez.net/nhlstats/stats?service=direct&context=Stats/changeSortColumnAction&fetchKey=2006

Nice move for once by Sather. Sykora will play well with the young talent at MSG right now. He plays so much better when he's happy with the system, and the Ranger system fits him way better then the Mighty Duck's new lunch pailer game play. That's why they cleared Federov as well. The Ducks are modelling themselves after the Flames hard/physical style of play. Sykora and Federov don't fit that role in the least.<br />

<p>6 in a row for the Avs. Svatos with the game-tying goal late in the 3rd and Lappy with the winner. Avs over the Habs 2-1 in a goalie duel. Huet played amazing as he stopped around 30 straight against Colorado until Svatos put one in. Abby matched him, but face a lot less shots as the Avs and Abby were great again defensively. Thats 5 straight awesome games in net for Abby as it looks like he's back to his old self again and fully confident once more. It also looks like Jose might be losing his job in Montreal. He may be moved soon according to recent rumors. </p>

<p>How's this for your all-rookie line up front? Since Crosby is taking a lot of face-offs, he needs to work on that stat. The other two don't take many, probably only when the center gets tossed from the circle. Other then that, they all need work defensively but who doesn't in the NHL as a rookie forward? CJ is right. Yet that goal truly get summed up as a hustle goal and that's pretty impressive for a rookie of his talent. I love the way he plays, and has to be in the lead for rookie of the year as of now. However, I don't think Crosby should be ranked second as of now. I'd put Calgary's D Phaneuf and Colorado's Svatos in that spot. But you know Crosby won't fall lower than 2nd place. Hell, an argument could be made for Prucha and Lundqvist (v after q, what is wrong with those crazy people) of the hated Rangers as well. The big difference bt Crosby and Ovechkin is that they play on losing teams (terrible teams) and there is very little game pressure allowing them to play veteran player minutes that they wouldn't if their teams were in the playoff races. The others are in the middle of tight playoff races and can't use the old "Peyton Manning throw it all over and learn method" the Colts and Cowboys (Aikman) used in their first year. Sure it's a football tie in, but it makes sense. This is why I have been hesitant to even give my (pseudo) vote to Ovechkin. Right now I'm a little biased as well, but I have him edging out Svatos so far. If Marek can improve his defensive game (which is starting to pick up) and he effectively plays on the penalty kill, his numbers should grow faster due to the increased ice time. Right now he still plays around 7 minutes less per game then the other big names in the race. Yet he still has 8 game winning goals and a few shootout tallies as well. Meanwhile the Pens and Caps are the second and third worst teams in the entire league. Svatos has helped his been the difference in 8 of the Avs 27 wins thus far. So it can be said he's a huge factor in the ultimate stat, not the Peyton Manning stats. I truly think this needs to be a part of the vote in the NHL as it ties in MLB MVP races. It makes perfect sense to me at least.

Got Doug Weight from the Blues...
The only thing I really find bothersome about the Hurricanes is their goaltending....cause Gerber and the other guy they have whose name I can't recall at this moment aren't really playoff tested....
I gotta get a look at them on TV when I get a chance...At this point, I still don't think they have the firepower to compete with Ottawa...hell I dont think anyone does...

I remember when the Devils beat the Sens in the Eastern Conference Finals a couple years ago. Their reaction was the oddest I've ever seen. It's like everyone just stopped as soon as time expired. Players who were on ice just fell down and laid there for a bit. Everyone on the bench just sat there like they couldn't believe it. It was the most depressed I've ever seen any team in any sport at any time. The Buffalo Bills had more dignity after their 4th Super Bowl loss.

I don't think they will this year....If only for the fact of the new rules will help them out, and theyre a lot more experienced....
I can't think of anyone in the East that can keep up with their speed or firepower....
Classic example of Ottawa this year was when I watched them against the Flyers, and the Flyers tried to beat the crap out of them, to no avail..

Nah, the Flyers WILL beat them up in a 6/7 game series. It will add up and take it's toll. Not to mention the refs always call a different game in a playoff series. I don't care how much they swear they won't change at all, they will.

Yes they have a few games played more, but you can only win the games you play to move up. And I can't stress enough how much I hated the Abby trade. If it was to give the job to Budaj and look to the future now since Kono, Vann, Svatos and Wolski will be back next year, I would have been fine with that. But then they could have moved Abby for some D or C depth, not a washed up loud mouth who gets paid WAY to much in the new NHL. Sure he can rebound, but I hope Budaj gets the starting job from here on in. He's gonna make it tough on the Av's brass as he just made his first to starts as the main goalie and won them both. The first game he allowed one goal and made 26 saves for a 2-1 win. The second game he made 34 saves for his first career shutout against the "at the time" first place team in the NW division to win 3-0. it really seems like Jose was more of a Cap break for the Aves.
his salary isn'et counted on the cap since he is hurt long term with
his heel. one of the Aves goalies will be traded after the
playoffs.<br />
spoon
03-13-2006, 08:42 PM
That's just retarded! So it was a cap break from what problem? Why lose a good goalie for a goalie at 4.5 million per year over the next few years. That just doesn't make sense, sorry.
spazemunky

i woulden't be suprised to se both of these goalies on different teams
again in the offseason. Montreal has Huet who really looked like
he could handle a starting role for cheap, and the Aves have Budaj who
shows a lot of promise. who knows how Jose will recover from a
broken Heel. thats a big injury.<br />

I went to the last Sabres/Caps game and was pretty blown away by Ovechkin. I was during preseason, too, but I had to do a lot of breath-holding and nailbiting whenever Ovechkin got the puck. The weird thing was that the Sabres are an incredibly fast team, and the only Sabre that could keep up with him was Afinogenov (who was, not coincidentally, Ovechkin's linemate during the lockout)

Amazingly, there have only been 7 rookies ever to score 100 points in a season and TWO came this year!! Crosby just became the youngest player ever to do so as well. My boy Svatos will end the year 5th in rookie scoring with 50 pts. & 9 game winning goals even though he missed most of the second half of the season and played half the time per game as the big two. Two goalies should fare well in the rookie voting as well, Lundqvist (NYR) and Miller (Buf), both with great stats. And on the blue line, perhaps one of the most overlooked rookies in the league and perhaps the best overall player, Dion Phaneuf. A rookie D man with 49 pts, 20 goals, 7 game winners, and a plus 5 is unheard of!! This guy is one hell of a player and the best young blueliner in years. This is the most amazing rookie year I've ever seen. Here's some of the stats:
And I STILL find it unbelieveable Phaneuf, Crosby, or Eric Staal were not on Team Canada....

<p>Mundo, Dion and Staal should have definitely been there. However, I think Spezza and Tanguay were much more deserving overall bc of their defense vs that of Crosby, not to mention the maturity difference. At the time Sid really didn't deserve it. Yet he definately deserved it more than at least 5 or so players that did go. </p>
