I've been seeing this all over EVERY car commercial all summer long. What's the deal? At first, I didn't really pay attention to the companies doing the commercials, so I just assumed it was one car company offering this deal. But I recently started noticing, it's EVERYBODY. Saturn, Dodge, GMC, Toyota, Honda, you name it. Did one company start this and everybody loved the idea and jumped on board? Who is the originator? IS there an originator? Who ripped who off? Hoo-hoo.

If you look at the list of car companies that are doing the employee discount, you will notice that they all turn out crap. A combination of high gas prices, slow economy, and shitty cars have forced the US companies to discount them. Not as many people want gas guzzlers anymore. Most likely, Toyota and Honda will not be doing this because their cars are reliable and many of them have 30+ miles per gallon.

EPA standards make it so that all cars currently get 28mpg highway and next year it goes up to 30mpg. I pretty sure on this, but someone please check the numbers. Honda's and others have even better mileage. My Acura isn't as far ahead of US cars with mileage as you'd think.

Get your balls out of your purse and step up to flavor!
EPA standards make it so that all cars currently get 28mpg highway and next year it goes up to 30mpg

um, no. I think that may be a recommendation because I'm sure new hummers and escalades don't get anywhere near 28mpg

EPA standards make it so that all cars currently get 28mpg highway and next year it goes up to 30mpg. I pretty sure on this, but someone please check the numbers.

Actually, among all the cars that the companies make, there must be an average of 27 mpg. Some cars can have more and some can have less. SUVs are qualified as trucks and they have a much lower average mpg.

The EPA standard only applies to cars, not trucks or SUVs
