Good News for Me!!!!

<p>my house has been on the market for over a year and a half with no offers.&nbsp; we debated lowering the price, but couldn't afford where we want to move to if we did.&nbsp; got home today and had a ring at the door.&nbsp; it was the agent saying we have an offer and they will be here in a few minutes to show the parents of the husband the house.&nbsp; only $10K less then what we listed it for so I'm happy.&nbsp; the only negative was the parents were Russian who spoke no english and it seemed the father wasn't thrilled with it at the price.&nbsp; i have a very nice/big house, but the bathrooms are dated and he seemed to think so also.&nbsp; i hope he doesn't convince them to change their minds.&nbsp; just couldn't get a good read on the parents.&nbsp; i'm so nervous and excited at the same time.&nbsp; i hope this goes well.&nbsp; i'm praying for myself for a while.</p><p>oh, and i'm not able to walk or carry things for quite a while, so i won't&nbsp;be doing much packing.&nbsp; even bigger bonus.</p><p>&nbsp;<img src="http://hometown.aol.com/satelitecam/images/sig_wk.jpg" border="0" /> thanks for the sig SatCam...and thanks for bringing it back Furie</p>

Good time to sell, but wait till you see what everything else costs.
Here in NY, everything's over 300k. And for something moderately crappy
anywhere in the city, upwards of 1 mil and waaay above. <br />

yeah..i know how much houses are...especially in Nassau County on LI.&nbsp; i know i won't find anything good under $400K in the area i want to live in....and i have to keep my wife from looking at things close or over $500K...she believes money&nbsp;grows on trees.&nbsp; but we want to have kids and my parents offer free day care out there, so the money saved there is worth it.&nbsp; just going to have to look for a new job in the city...will have to commute from LI to Parsipanny for a while...sucks.&nbsp; plus i'll have to quit the weed for a while also.&nbsp;

<p>you actually work at a good time for traffic.</p><p>im assuming you
mean 7:30 am, at the time you are coming to work, more people are
coming out of jersey then into it, and you beat alot of queens traffic
leaving that early. Also the opposite coming back, most people arent
going the way you are, so it wont be that bad, plus you are just early
enough. i can usually get from mahwah to kennedy airport around 3:30-4
in the afternoon in about 45-50 minutes</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>well, my closing date was supposed to be today, but we haven't heard from the buyers lawyers in about 2 weeks.&nbsp; i call my lawyer everyday because i'm a little worried about things at this point.&nbsp; my guess is they may be having problems getting a mortgage, which would suck because why look at a house you can't afford.&nbsp; i have movers set up, but don't want them to come unless i know for sure this is going to happen.&nbsp; its really stressing me out.&nbsp; so my house is half packed and half not packed.&nbsp; hopefully i find out something today.</p><p>oh yeah, its my b-day.&nbsp; happy birthday to me.</p>

have a few friends in the biz and they said the buyers have dried up
the last couple of months. It seems that massive property taxes+
$400,000mortgages+rising gas and heating oil prices+rising interest
rates are making buyers jittery.&nbsp; Blame that dopey Bush. At least
you have a home to sell , which always puts you at the point of
advantage, you made money and at worst might have to wait for the
