I think someone in some thread may have touched on this, but I read in the newpaper recently that a study found diet sodas actually make you fatter.

Anyone else see something about this? That's one big scientific goof for these soda companies! Glad the only soda I drink is in my rum and cokes.

WebMd on AOL has a <a href="http://aolsvc.health.webmd.aol.com/content/article/107/108476.htm" target="_self">link</a> to the story. Just wanted to put this part of the story in, too:
"Diet Soda No Smoking Gun 

Fowler is quick to note that a study of this kind does not prove that diet soda causes obesity. More likely, she says, it shows that something linked to diet soda drinking is also linked to obesity."

They're not saying diet soda makes you fat, they're saying habits associated with people who drink diet soda do.  Like the people who order a diet coke, then a huge supervalue meal at mcdonalds

I drink the lovely sugary goodness of regular coke; replacing a 2L a day Diet Coke; and on the advice of my MD. He said he'd rather I drank the regular stuff, for reasons mentioned above, and others.Someday when I figure how to post a pic here I'll update the diet; but I'm down to 214 from 360. The hunger diet; that one works. Hungry for three years now, no worries, beats being a fatty.

And Mike, hunger stinks!!!!!=My Zen Guitar teacher had an aphorism:Unintentional suffering is retched. Intentional suffering is fine.It most definately stinks, but it's the only way, for me, at least, to lose weight; I forgot to add the other thing was really making an effort to get less sedate. I loathe exercise, I mean lo-fucking-athe it. Me and a book is a party. Me and a book and some junk food is an orgy. I could well spend the rest of my days like that, but my body and mind suffer. Sitting around is just as bad for mind as it is body, maybe worse.There's a great book out there, Google 'Fatland, How Americans became the fattest nation on Earth' [from memory so that may be off a bit] and it describes, precisely and exactly, what we have done and become as americans, and it is not pretty, and on this one, IMHO, we have no one to blame but ourselves, not the Gov, or McDs, or anything else but our [my] lazy asses combined with the crap we're putting in our bodies.

Since I have a great body, let me give you  lard asses a few tips. Cut out the following things and with the lords help, you could look like me:Beer, sugar, salt, butter, soda, fast food, pizza, chips, bread, cock, candy, sour cream... Americans ARE fat and lazy. Ever notice - the fatter the hick, the more patriotic they are?I love America. I love that we have the freedom to be fat & lazy.The end.
