I woke up today to find one of those notes from the mailman that said I have a registered letter to pick up at the post office. It came from the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Im thinking it must be the results of my Application For Restoration of Civil Rights that I submitted back in January.  If I'm approved, it means I can finally vote again. I can also be a Notary Public or I can even run for political office! Of course, I don't plan on doing either of those, but every right I get back makes me feel that much better.  I still can't use a firearm, but I've only ever owned one gun in my life. I can deal with that.  Wish me luck, because if they turned me down, I have to wait 3 years before I can apply again. Well, whatever you did doesn't make you a bad person so Good Luck.All joking aside, I think I remember you saying some sort of drug charge was involved with your problem, and even though it's against the law, I am a firm believer in letting people do what they want, even if they hurt themselves.  Recreational drug use isnt bad in my opinion.  I don't know what you were doing and thats none of my business frankly, but in a free society, you shouldn't have lost your rights.  When you get them back, write in Dick Hertz to REALLY stick it to Washington!

I don't know what you were doing and thats none of my business frankly, but in a free society, you shouldn't have lost your rights.  Just for the record, it was posession of 2 grams of cocaine. And I agree that people shouldn't lose their rights, after they've served their sentence. That's why I'm going to do everything I can to help educate other felons on how to have their rights restored (and to affect changes in states, where the process is so difficult, that noone tries to have them restored).

Good luck budday.  and I agree that you shouldn't have your civil rights taken away in the first place.  It seems like insult to injury.And I like that you want to educate other convicts on getting their rights back.  good man!

Good luck Papa.As someone who has committed some less than legal acts in the not so distant past I know how it feels, not quite to your extent though.  I agree that once you pay your debt you should be free and clear and allowed to start fresh.

Good job man.  I'm sure that these rights that we all take for granted are now that much more sweet since they had been taken away.  Not that is makes losing them worth it, but you don't know what you had until you lost it.  Now that you found it, keep your nose clean and vote.
