<p>There is going to be a documentary on this weekend about Midnight movies from the 70's and early 80's.&nbsp; It is on the encore channel friday night a midnight.&nbsp; I was wondering if anyone has seen it already.&nbsp; Here is a quick description from IMDB.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h1>Plot Summary for <br /><strong class="title">Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream <font size="5">(</font><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/Sections/Years/2005"><font size="5">2005</font></a><font size="5">)</font></strong></h1><p class="plotpar">Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream tells the hidden history of these landmark films, El Topo (1970), Night of the Living Dead (1968), The Harder They Come (1973), Pink Flamingos (1972), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), and Eraserhead (1977). I remember going to the skyline theaters at baileys crossroads to see Song Remains the Same, The Kids are Alright, Wizards, and Lord of the Rings.&nbsp;&nbsp; Has anyone ever seen El Topo?&nbsp; I have heard of it but have never seen it.&nbsp; Looks very strange.&nbsp;

Encore is going to show a different midnight movie every Friday night.&nbsp; They had the documentary and then Refer Madness last night.&nbsp; Next week will be Rocky Horror.&nbsp; I am not sure what else they will be showing this month.&nbsp; For some reason they are showing Rocky Horror 3 times on Friday night, but on the 26th they are having a marathon&nbsp; Rocky Horror, Night of the Living Dead, Pink Flamingos, and The Harder they Come.&nbsp; I was hoping they would show El Topo and Eraserhead also.

Eraserhead is a classic. And the documentary "You don't know Jack" about Jack Nance, the star of Eraserhead is great. He died a strange, questionable death. I'd love to see Eraserhead in a theater again.

<p>I 'member back in the day when every damned weekend night I'd come stumbling in and try to catch something on the cable, &quot;Nightflight&quot; would always be showing this movie called &quot;Country Man,&quot; and since it was in Jamaica, I kept waiting for them to show some pot smoking or something, but alls I got was the guy in the movie wearing only this thong-looking thing, running through the countryside...</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>They<em> did</em>&nbsp;show one flick late at night I really dug, and that was, &quot;Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, Together Again,&quot; that was very funny.</p><p>The cat would turn into a coke fiend, and one cool scene was when he banged this chick in the produce section of the supermarket....</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I remember one night, after watching &quot;Gimme Shelter&quot; on one channel, as soon as it went off I started going around the dial and not only came across &quot;Zebriskie Point,&quot; but it was at the place in the movie where they were playing, &quot;You Got the Silver.&quot;</p><p>That was cool.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Mom took me to see Rocky Horror when I was a freshman in High School, still not sure what that was all about. By the time I was in 12th grade, every Friday and Saturday night I was either seeing a midnight movie, or I said I was seeing a midnight movie. Back in the mid 80s, three places in the DC area played Rocky Horror (Alexandria, Fair Oaks and the Key Theatre in Georgetown) - two of them also played other movies, like Dawn of the Dead, Liquid Sky, The Wall, Heavy Metal and others. Rocky Horror was maybe the most fun at the Key Theatre - they opened the theatre up an hour or so before the movie and blasted music, and everyone just danced. There was pot and booze everywhere, and kids just making out in the corners. It was so bizarre (drinking was still 18 in the District). When I came back home from college, the Key no longer played it - a riot had broken out, supposedly. A few years ago when the Key closed for good, they did do one last weekend of playing Rocky Horror, and so many of the kids (now grown) showed up. Very cool.

<p>I used to drive 80 miles every saturday night to see Rocky Horror,
as the only places in Michigan to show the damned thing only show it
once or twice a year (State Theater in Ann Arbor, and Penn Theater in
Plymouth...I was also in both of the audience participation casts about
7 years ago)<br />
</p><p> Other than that, a few years back, a
theater near me ran a Faces of Death marathon at midnight for a week.
Now, I know they're definately not your typical &quot;midnight movie&quot;...but
they were shown at midnight.<br />

Mink Stole is a riot in that one. Her rant at the neighbor kids at the beginning is classic - and Edith Massey is a joy and should have been in more films before she died. Also, the music is pretty cool too <em><font size="1">(how's that for a not to subtle set up...)</font></em><br /></p>

Did you read page one? Eraserhead was mentioned several times. And Last house.

Any early John Waters movie is great as a midnight movie.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is so cheesy it's fantastic. Same with Dark Star--one of my favorites.
