He's got a flair for the visual, but his movies are hollow. Armageddon sucked, but in an entertaining way.

It scares me that this guy will most likely be directing the Transformers movie in two years.

Wait, he didn't direct "Con Air?" That had his shitty traits all over it...so does that mean there's actually ANOTHER director out there as schticky as he is?

I vote for "death."

Are you all serious?

Bad Boys, Armageddon, and The Rock are 3 of the best action movies of all time. I can't wait to see the Island. Michael Bay movies always have incredible cinematography and breathtaking set designs. His movies might not have much substance, but they are entertaining as hell and deserve much respect.

Remember: "Losers always whine about their best.
I can safely say that "Armageddon" is easily one of, if not THE worst big-budget film ever made. The only reason it might not be #1 is that "Pearl Harbor" might edge it out just a bit.

I remember really, REALLY liking "Bad Boys" when I was 15, but when I finally caught it again almost 10 years later, it was hideous. The action was really lame, there was never a second of suspense or excitement, everything in every scene looks fake and staged, and the plot is barely given a second thought. I love me a brainless action film...but when someone can't even pull off the action, what's left? A flashy commercial for cars and Miami. Yawn.

I'll give you "The Rock"...that's a masterful brainless action flick. But I can't stand the way Bay shoots scenes involving military forces in all of his other films. It never seems like there's ever any real danger going on...just a giant, 2 hour-long recruitment commercial.

I agree with most of the SKW list.

and I'll add: RONIN. Which, in my opinion, has the single best car chase sequence ever filmed.

PS: Ronin was directed by John Frankenheimer, who just happens to be Michael Bays' biological father.

I totally disagree on the bashing of either ConAir or The Rock.

Both great movies.

I wasn't planning on seeing Raiders Of The Lost Ark or Jaws when I went to see those so no let down.

Armagedon did suck bad.

Heat was a terrible movie regardless of the big shootout ( which you can see for real on Craziest Police Videos when they show that robbery in California ).

Bad Boys was lame but not nearly as lame as Bad Boys II.

That was a turd from the get go.

But I still think Armageddon, The Rock, and Bad Boys are just as strong.

Armageddon still remains the best disaster movie to date. It's far better than movies like Independence Day, Volcano, Deep Impact, Day After Tomorrow, and The Core. It has a strong cast, a well-written script and some incredible scenes where the asteroids are taking out New York and Paris. There are obviously some cringy moments and a fair amount of cheese. But it wasn't anywhere near as bad as people are saying.
