real life interaction that i don't know about? Some secret club? I am
never there for more than 5 minutes unless, I am checking out bands.

come off as a normal person asking them to be a friend when there are
so many psychos out there asking to be your friend.It's cool

Can't take the miserable agony of the daily horror that is life and want to end it all?  Hanging around unsavory characters that'll end up wearing you as a suit?  Have a tendency to drink lethal levels of alcohol and then try and race trains over the tracks?  As long as you were desperate to be vaguely e-famous at some point in your life, plan to become LEGENDARY when your dead ass is put on display at...<a href="http://www.livejournal.com/community/myspace_deaths/" target="_blank">MYSPACE DEATHS!</a>You gotta join LiveJournal to read all the entries, but man, they've got people dead from anything you can think of and the creepy Myspace profiles they've left behind for all eternity.  Yeah, it's insanely morbid and ghoulish, but it's oddly fascinating.  This definitely is an entire new realm of perception here that got me thinking...if something did happen to me and I unexpectedly passed away about (hopefully) 60 years earlier than planned, what the fuck happens to my "e-life?"  It's totally seperate from my "real life" social circles...how would anyone who only knew me online know I was dead?  How many people have you seen as a regulars on message boards or chat rooms or newsgroups who just suddenly up and vanish?  How many of those people disappeared because they didn't have the option of breathing anymore?Yowza...

And just to add on to my rant...places like Myspace are making teen suicide even more pathetic than it has been in the past.  Yeah, it's harsh, but I'm sorry, suicide for anything short of being in constant physical or mental agony that can't possibly be treated by ANYTHING strikes me as being insanely selfish and cowardly.  Now, starvation thin Hot Topic kids with floppy hair and girl pants who can't stand that their girlfriends don't love My Chemical Romance and body mutilation as much as they do and want to blow the tops of their head off because of it suddenly have a platform where potentially MILLIONS of people can witness their faux-grandiose final thoughts and melodrama.  There's an emo/goth self-holocaust going on around us, and they're using the internet to do it in the most arrogant, self-obsessed, morbidly hilarious way possible!<img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=TheMojoPin" border="0" /> Dancing with the women at the bar... << He knows his Claret from his Beaujolais >> "You can tell some lies about the good times we've had, but I've kissed your mother twice...and now I'm working on your dad..."

Come on dude, some of the people you're talking about probably would have killed themselves anyway.  I'm sure it may make it more aluring to someone looking for attention to do it online, but I don't think it's an epidemic.  To be fair I didn't follow that link you left because I don't want a Livejournal account.I phrased it wrong...I didn't want to imply MORE kids are killing themselves because of shit like Myspace.  Just that they now have an outlet to be as pretentious as possible about it.I know I'm being pretty flippant about the whole thing, but the site put me in a weird mood.  A lot of te people packed it in just because of random accidents or medical complications or whatever, and now their crappy Myspace page remains frozen in time.  Very eery.Of course, some are just unavoidably ironic and hilarious.  If you're completely sloshed and kick the bucket when you run your car through a red light and get plowed by an SUV, having a profile pic where you look like you're about to fellate a huge bottle of vodka wasn't the best choice.  Or you drown in your van after you flip it into a pond because you were baked and your sibling leaves a comment about how he's thinking of you every time he uses your bong...that YOUR MOM gave to him?!?  People are fucking weird.If I was less tired and much smarter, I'm sure there are some deep philisophical and sociological issues at work and evolving here, but as it stands I can just manage to end up being alternately amused and horrified.  Peaks and valleys, baby!

I'm not gonna quote all that, I'm responding to the last Mojo post:I see your point.  More visible posters would be missed after awhile I guess.  But less active posters would probably not be missed right away and then posters who come and go every few weeks might have just thought to have lost complete interest.As far as others knowing I post here, I've only mentioned I post here to a few people I know and they probably forgot because they aren't fans or Ron and Fez.  I have met a few people from the board in real life and formed a friendship or two that lasted a varying amount of time.  I still chill with Grim Sanity who doesn't post or check this board anymore.  So those people knoe me off the board.

There are WAY too many of you people on that thing....as for
dying and having a profile, I don't see it as being any different than
a "last living photograph" or something like that.  I don't have
pictures of myself on mine yet, because I don't like taking pictures of
myself, but I utilize my hobby instead, which will (hopefully) still be
around after I die, so again, I don't  see the difference between,
"here's where he was in his life before he died" and "here are the
model armies he built before he died"

Well, most last photographs don't come with quotes of the people in them saying things of the "Live fast and die young!!!1!1111" variety or comments from unaware friends asking, "hay, where U been, d00d?  R u dead?!  LOL!!11"They're mainly creepy just because they're written in the now, and the person who wrote them no longer is.  And that "last login" date is just "someone stepped on my grave" cringe-inducing.

There definitely seems a trend that if you tYpE LiKe ThIs or simply can't spell at all, pack your profile with as many garish graphics, fonts, quizzes and music vids as possible, AND top it off with a background that renders it all unreadable, you WILL end up dead.

The thing I find funny about the profiles with images that make the text unreadable is, this is how many webpages used to be. Remeber back in the day when websites first started hitting main stream? Like mid to late 90s? The novelty of having tiled images or blinking text made so many people go overboard with it. Heh, its just funny now that I'm reading many myspace profiles that I'm seeing this all over again..deja vu.
