You all saw the vignette about this new wrestler. The voice is familiar, anyone know anything about him? Better not be a repackaged gimmick for one of the jobbers/midcarders the WWE currently have on the roster.

There's a guy in OVW, Marty Wright, who's currently using the gimmick name The Boogeyman. Since I didn't catch Raw last night (except, ya know, the really important segment), I don't know if it's the same guy.

Yeah, it's Marty Wright, the man who lied about his age in the Tough
Enough contest. I can't freaking believe this stupid crap they're
trying to pull off as a wrestling gimmick. Whatever happened to
not insulting the intelligence of the audience?
Supposedly he had a house show match(which took about 30 seconds or so) against doug basham...but he was pulling a promo and the crowd was laughing at him...

The guy reporting on it for the Wrestling Observer had a pretty amusing write-up about it:

Then in came The Boogeyman! He ranted some but at the rant's climax where he exclaimed "I am The Boogeyman!" a huge clap of thunder pealed and lightning flashed in the distance. And when he then yelled "And I am your worst nightmare!" the heavens opened up and it poured. He obliterated Doug Basham in about 15 seconds in the rain.
The real crime is that there were no TV cameras. There are probably few special effects masters who could have provided that eerie thunderstorm atmosphere and timed the thunder and lightning and rain so perfectly. The heck with the match, this guy had perhaps the greatest ring entrance ever! I don't think I'll ever be caught in a storm again without "I am The Boogeyman!" bouncing around in my head.
The hard rain created a delay, and persistent lightning forced the show to halt.

Those pics of this guy remind me of the old WWF back in the 80's. That looks like the stpidest gimmick ever. I mean I'll never watch it so I don't care, but I feel bad for the fans who still do.

I'm done with WWE. I'm all about the independents and TNA from now on. This gimmick, recent storylines, Diva Search, and roster cuts further cemented my hatred for WWE ruing wrestling.

I like women, but the diva shit never interested me. I'd look, I'd watch and I'd stare because I'm a man. But too much of it ruins the feel of the show and gets fucking boring. Am I watching wrestling or Skinamax? Because I dont want both at once.

So, he beat Doug Basham at a Smackdown house show, but his promo was on RAW. Which show does this inevitable failed gimmick go to? If it's Smackdown, it's so obvious who he feuds with. That is if he lasts that long.

For a character that looked like it would be dead within 15 minutes of debuting, it is really catching on. I dare say he is one of the funniest things going in the WWE today.
