if it didnt happen within the last year it never did

Vince only cares about past history when it made him money - not that the fanboys liked. There's a distinct difference between the two.

Assaulting Stephanie is to WWE release as shooting a Pope is to first-class ticket on the Hell Express.

Unless the ending of that match involved an anal rape, what could be so awful that would make a performer even think about charging Steph? Silly bastard.

Nitro's been MIA a lot the last couple of weeks. If he's not injured my guess is some kind of punishment. I don't see any other reason to pull back on someone who's been getting a push unless they did something that displeased the higher-ups.

As for Mercury's firing that was a surprise. He was getting some shine lately too. The gossip in me would love to know what went down. :devil2:

It was all bullshit, the attack never happened.

"-Joey Mercury was backstage at TV yesterday, and it was determined then that he was going to be let go. WWE feels he still hasn't gotten over his "personal problems" which caused his long suspension before, and they are giving him another chance to get himself together. Dave was given the impression that if Mercury finally does get himself straightened out that the door for a return will be left open. The ridiculous stories coming out yesterday were not true at all."-PWinsider audio

Incidentally, a wrestler with a drug problem losing his shit and shoving someone (woman or not) is more believable than a wrestler being fired for...

1) taping other wrestlers in the car

2) suggesting that he get breast implants to further his character

3) his wife's ex-husband becoming the booker

4) attacking a respected person in the company with scissors

5) attacking a respected person in the company with a squegee

6) taking time off to play softball

Recording wrestlers = Meat, aka Shawn Stasiak. I believe he was caught making tapes of Steve Blackman and Malenko. Not sure though.

Breast implants = Dustin Rhodes.

Wife's ex-husband becomes booker = Kevin Sullivan, Woman, and Benoit (although benoit quit rather than get fired).

Scissors, Squeegee, and Softball was all Sid.

Me too. I thought he was working indies or something. There really isn't anything more pathetic than that, is there? (old wrestler hanging on with zero star power at this point) I mean, he's gotta be pushing his mid-40's at this point.

It makes me feel better when I read about the "where are they now", when some of them are trying to make a life for themselves. I was not shocked at ALL about where Luna turned up; the only other thing I could see her as was a school bus driver.

I'd be upset that Sabu was let go, but I think he's better off. At least he got to wrestle in MSG once, and he got to perform at Wrestlemania.

And just something I noticed, up until recently the ECW guys were known as the "Extremists" because they weren't equal to the WWE Superstars. Vince makes himself champ, and now they are Superstars.

There is no ECW. It's just another name and date for Sunday Night Heat or Saturday Night Shotgun. ECW died in 2001 and hasn't beeen seen since.

What is so sad about WWECW is that One Night Stand 1 and 2 were a lot of fun and very close to the real spirit of ECW. If ECW was allowed to continue what it was becoming those first few shows leading into ONS2, a renegade show whose wrestlers, crew and fans were vocally opposed to what they considered to be the dull WWE mainstream, it could have become a big hit. If you noticed, a lot of the younger fans, especially Pro-Cena ones, were starting to get as annoyed by snarky ECW fans as ECW fans were with them. A rivalry between the two camps was evolving that would have been more natural than the Smackdown and RAW one which they have been trying to manufacture for years. The very viewers management have driven away would today be passionately supporting ECW and the mainstream WWE fans might have become more protective of people like Cena and Batista in reaction.

The whole thing stinks. I know there are bigger things to be concerned about in the world but the totally avoidable mess that is WWECW still gets me down when I think about it.

World Wrestling Entertainment announced this evening that Trinity has been released from the company.

Trinity had been with the ECW brand from its re-launch, originally as part of the Full Blooded Italians. She injured her knee performing a moonsault to the floor on the first ECW house show at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia in June 2006 and was used sparingly after her return. I believe her final TV appearance was as one of the Lumberjills in the Melina vs. Ashley match at Wrestlemania 23.

PWTorch.com reports that the Cryme Tyme release stemmed from actions the tag team performed following their Terre Haute house show match against Cade and Murdoch.

According to the Torch report, the two teams had reportedly been developing heat with each other over the course of the past few weeks. That built into an incident prior to the match, in which Shad Gaspard told Lance Cade that "what happens in the ring happens," essentially implying that there might be some stiff shots exchanged. Cade mocked Gaspard's threat in front of a number of wrestlers backstage.

In order to get back at Cryme Tyme for what they perceived as a threat, Cade and Murdoch met with the referee and arranged a rib. Essentially, the plan was to "fast count" while JTG was out of the ring, resulting in a count out loss for Cryme Tyme; Cryme Tyme was unaware of this plan until it was executed in front of the live audience.

In what sources say was a move to save face, Cryme Tyme then decided, without telling the referee, to execute their finishing move on him (they reportedly did so safely, but it was still unexpected). They also tossed his belt into the crowd.

Words were exchanged in the backstage area following the segment, and WWE management eventually made the call to release Cryme Tyme, who were reportedly on thin ice with management anyway due to what some backstage perceived as an attitude problem. The tag team was reportedly unhappy and surprised with WWE's decision.

The increased scrutiny on WWE stemming from the Benoit tragedy, the Congressional investigation and the recent steroid controversy has resulted in a zero-tolerance policy backstage.

I think the WWE is in a major crisis and Vince doesn't know how to stop the bleeding. In the old days when it was a private company, he probably could take a few underhanded tactics and reprimand his people how he saw fit. Now that it's public, he has a lot of people to answer to, not to mention all the ways he's being investigated, I'm sure it's causing an unhealthy work environment and there are expectations that can't be met in the professional wrestling industry. It's a lot harder to take blame then credit, and Vince is finding that out.

Bobby Lashley Update
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.23.2008

- Bobby Lashley has informed WWE that he wants to leave the company. One of the reasons Lashley wants to leave revolve around the fact that he is upset as how his girlfriend Krystal Marshall was treated and released. Marshall refused to be paired with Edge as she would have played a Lita like role, and apparently she feared racial elements being added by creative.

- Lashley also doesn't feel like he has been treated well while he has been out rehabbing his injury. He has had little communication with Vince McMahon, and there have been no firm plans to get him back on TV, even though he is cleared to do so.

- Right now Lashley is still under WWE contract, and if he is serious about wanting out, he would have to negotiate an official release from WWE.

Yeah, pretty much.

On a side note, anyone else ever notice a resemblance between Lance Cade & Lance Bass from Nsync or whatever group he was in?

Don't give the writers any ideas, otherwise that will be his next gimmick.

Nah she RULED on Survivor, for the 2 episodes she lasted. LOL

At least she lasted longer than the Tough Enough winners did.

She actually asked to be released. She apparently has a 7 year old daughter who is very sick.

I heard that, but if she had talent, that request would have been denied

Then she would have quit and been released anyway.

McMahon's a lot of things, but torturing his talent isn't one of them. Besides, Dawn Marie got a nice payday from them after they released her due to the pregnancy, so I'm guessing that they are a bit open to working out releases for family issues than they were in the past.

I'm sure her release included a non-compete for TNA for like, a year.

Very surprised to hear that. She did a good job at keeping that a secret as I never once heard that before today.

It would explain the gap in time between her appearance in Playboy and then showing up in the Diva Search.

I didn't watch the 3rd season. Miz & Morrison won it (I just knew it was 2 guys that season.?

The Boogeyman wasn't a "winner" as I understand it. Didn't he try out & they sent him to OVW when they got his real age?

I should have worded it better. I meant the female TE winners (Jackie, Nidia, & Linda or whatever her name is). For the pushes they got, they seemed to drop into obscurity relatively quick. I know Jackie was in TNA a while, but anyone know what became of the other 2?

Linda had no skills but had an attitude/ego problem.

Jackie just sucked. She married Charlie Haas and is now a stay-at-home mom.

Nidia got the Matty Fridays Special but she didn't fit the WWE mold of what a Diva should be. So she got a release along with Gail Kim and Jazz, I think. She wrestled in indies and eventually "retired".

Other than Torrie Wilson (where is she these days, anyway?) has any of the WWE Playboy girls lasted more than a year after their appearance in the mag?

Miz didnt win. Daniel Puder won the year he was in it.

John Hennigan (Morrison) and Matt Cappotelli won the final edition of the reality show before it became a segment on RAW/Smackdown.

She retired. She had a back injury and I think, much like Trish, she just wanted to settle down and get out of the WWE grind.

Anyone remember Christopher Nowinski?

wasn't his real name like Chris Harvard or something? Wasn't a winner, but had a Jake Busey look to him and could have been one helluva manager for someone, but that dreaded post concussion syndrome got him.

Maven looked like he had a career blossoming...he eliminated the Undertaker from the Royal Rumble that year then zzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzZZzzZz......... .
