He obviously is no Pujols, but he is defintely one of the better ones in the league, and hardly gets any acknowledgement outside of the NY/NJ/PA area. Also you could say that the only reason he won ROY is because Barmes got injured and fucked up his shoulder and chances at winning it. Also being in the all-star game doesnt mean shit about being underrated or overrated. Look at who is in the game and who should be in the game. Hafner isnt in it and he has statisically the best hitting stats in the AL. Liriano only made it because Contretas pulled out 1 day before it. Schilling didnt make it at all, Chris Young didnt make it yet Oswa;t does (most likely because his manager is the manager of the NL team), Eckstein replaced Reyes, when Khalil Greene should have (even though his average is worse, his homers, rbis and defense is better then eckstein and Greene has also been very clutch this year). I mean fucking Ozzie took Magglio over Hafner that makes alot sense. Okay this post got totally derailed about Howard being underrated. <br /></p>

You won't get an argument on the Hafner thing from me, just ask Snoogans.&nbsp; But Howard isn't underrated in any sense of the word.&nbsp; People get left off the all-star game roster all the time, so it just doesn't fit in the discussion on that end of it.&nbsp; However, making it without a full season in the league under his belt speaks volumes for him.&nbsp;

I understand that alot of people are left off all star roster but its a good barometer to know if fans know about it.&nbsp; He wasnt even in the top 5 for 1b votes.&nbsp; Yea it does speak volumes for him to be on the all star team without a full season, and I am doubting that his awesome shit i wouldnt have drafted him on fantasy teams if i didnt think he was good.&nbsp; What i am saying was before the HR derby, he did not get the recognition or media coverage that Pujols, Berkman, Nomar, Konerko and even Morneau got.<br />

The All-Star Game participants should be voted on by the insiders (players, coaches, etc...), especially now that the game actually means something. I'm a HUGE Mets fan, and was glad six guys made it, but there was a good argument for Michael Barrett being the starter instead of LoDuca. Travis Hafner should have been on the AL squad somehow. He's one of the best offensive players in the game.<br />
