Ordinarily, I always used a carnuba based wax, but its always a pain the ass and if you do it in the sun, it has the potential to be a disaster. I was in Auto Barn a month ago and Im looking at the different waxes and this old man comes up to me and tells me about this stuff:

I kind of remember my father might have used it when I was a kid and so I decide Id buy it and try it out, and man! Is this stuff easy to put on and take off and it really seems to do a very nice job on the car. Who knew? Anyone know of anything better or what do you use?

professional detailer -

i gave up on waxing a bunch of years ago. my 6 year old silver Taurus shines like brand new and it's been waxed once. i'm guessing i got a car that had it's paint job done well??

i used to use Meguiars(sp?). a auto part store guy recommended it when i had a white truck. it basically compounded and waxed at the same time, good stuff

I waxed the car last Saturday with Kit wax. Easy to put on, not too bad to get off. I've used Meguiar's before and that does a good job. Not too bad to get off either.

The best wax I've ever used, and also the hardest to get off, was Butcher's wax.

I won a year supply of Turtle Wax on the Price Is Right in 1987 and still have yet to make a dent in the supply. Damn you Bob Barker and your Plinko Stick!!

I used to use the nu finish stuff on my old 1986 Buick worked F'ing great, but as I understsand it any car newer than '95 should not be waxed, it apparently fucks up the paint job. Read that somewhere....not sure where, but I'd check the owner's manual first.

As an aside I drive an '01 Honda CRV. It has a whopping 22,000 miles on it, but it is filthy between dog hair, empty water bottles, city living and an aversion to car washes...what would detailing it cost..approx?
