I just have one question, it's multiple choice :
I have been a Yankee " fan " :

a) Forever, born and raised a Yankee fan and even stayed with them when they sucked in the mid to late 80's.

b) Occasionally, like in the late 70's, not in the mid-80's because I had become a lifelong Met fan with all their new found success , and then back to the Yankees when they started winning again.

c) Since game 6 of the 1996 World Series ( I got on the bandwagon before it got on a roll ).

d) Since game 4 of 1998. Of course I knew they'd sweep the Padres after all I had seen like one game on television that year.

e) Since game 4 of 1999. Come on didn't everybody know with all those regular season wins they'd sweep the Braves ??

f) Since game 5 of 2000. Hey dynasty !! But I would have been just as happy to jump on the Mets pardade if they had won.

g) Starting this year, well at least until they went down 0-2.

Just trying to get an honest take on things.

May I inject a moment of serious observation?

When I first moved to New York, I used to cheer for both teams. I was happily ambivalent. I didn't start leaning more towards the Yankees because they won... heck that didn't matter to me, I'm from the midwest... I had a choice of the Twins or the Brewers where I'm from. (For the record, I grew up a Brewers fan.) So you can see it's not the scoreboard that made me abandon the Mets. It was the attitude. Simply put, I have a better time in Yankee Stadium than I do in Shea because I'm not surrounded by the hostility there. I'm not trying to piss off any Mets fans, either... I really have nothing against the team or their fans... I come from an unbiased base because I didn't grow up here... I just can't enjoy a team that the fans don't enjoy. And Mets fans don't seem to enjoy their team, they seem to be constantly defending them, even when there isn't a need. (No, of couse not all of you. Just the majority.) I'm a very sensitive little witch, I can't deal with that much strong emotion on a regular basis. I go to ball games to have fun. *shrug*

I grew up going to both stadiums since the 60's,and even when the Mets were winning it never compared to the Yankees in THE stadium. The Mets have NO history or tradition, and you will always find Met fans hating the Yankees..instead of worrying bout their own team. Sour grapes! As for The Yankees "buying" titles, the Mets are ranked in the top 3 with the highest payrolls..it not what you spend, it's how you spend it! Look at Oakland!

Totally, utterly, completely amazing! This team is so uncanny in it's ability to come back from seemingly insurmountable odds, it's incredible.

I have just witnessed them come back from a 3-1 deficit in the ninth inning, and win it in the 10th on a Derek Jeter home run, and I still don't believe it. I keep worrying that the magic will run out some time soon, but it looks like there's still plenty left in the tank for this World Series.

For overcoming overwhelming odds time and time again, I salute the NY Yankees. In the opening round of the playoffs, they were down 0-2 to the mighty Oakland A's, and won that series 3-2.

Then they faced the Seattle Mariners, baseball's winningest team. Once again, they emerged victorious.

Finally, in the World Series, they go down 0-2, only to come back with 3 straight thrilling victories, and go down to the bottom of the ninth inning of game 7.

Such grit and determination is symbolic of the fighting spirit of New Yorkers and Americans everywhere, be they Yankees fans or not. They are, in my eyes, to be hailed and cheered, not mocked and derided in their most disappointing hour.

Hats off to the Arizona Diamondbacks, another gritty, determined, never-say-die club. You beat the very best, and deserve all the accolades that come your way. Good luck trying to win 2 more straight World Series, though.

When people say "The Yankees suck", what are they really saying?
The team wins.
The team has a bunch of nice guys, no jerks.
The team has a great history and tradition.
If you hate the Yankees fine, but they do not suck. Look at the team you root for. Can they compare to the Yankees?
No. So please, Yankee haters, please explain the "suck" thing when you post. It's so juvenile and illiterate, so please be creative. Thank you, and remember, none of that "high payroll" crap. The Mets, Dodgers, Sox and Braves have huge payrolls also.
Just wait until next year.

Heckler...Please tell me that you aren't serious about Rivera blowing that save in order to stop a terrorist attack. The thing that Yankees fans should really be upset about is that they are going to be losing their core of clutch players ie. Tino, Brocious, Oneill, and possibly El Duque (who sucks anyway). Oh and to clear up the whole "Yankees Suck" taunt...As a diehard Red Sox fan (which leads to torture and humiliation season after season) Its not that the Yankees suck, as much as it is easy to chant, and flows a little bit better than the "Yankees bother the shit out of me" chant that I am forced to quietly weep to myself every October when Boston fails to accomplish anything.

I have NEVER seen such poor losers in my life! Not particularly on this board, but overall, in general. I was listening to O&A earlier, and I felt like buying Anthony and Norton some sundresses for them to wear, cause they were crying like women. Lose gracefully!

I would just like to see a Yankee fan put aside all of the talk about how their team is the greatest ever, about how they won every other series they were in this year, about how they took the Diamondbacks to 7 games, and just admitt that this year, Arizona was the better team. That this year, like it or not, Arizona had New York's number. That's all that I want.

And just so I don't get crucified as a disgruntled Boston or Mets fan, I must admit that I'm not a baseball fan at all. Don't really care for the sport. I just love rooting against the Yankees. ;)
