I always liked John Entwistle. I've often wondered, though... Is the girl in the Smithereens song "Behind the Wall of Sleep" about a real chick? For some reason, I've always like women who play the bass.

Joy Division/New Order's Peter Hook.NOBODY's bass playing sounds like his.His bass playing is quite unique: the bass is omnipresent in Joy Division & New Order's music, it has more or less the role of a lead guitar, and the way Hooky plays it is absolutely stunning. I would like to thank all of you for NOT mentioning Les Claypool.  The flashy f'ck doesn't know the 1st thing about playing a SONG.  Jaco is another dude that needs to look up the word "TASTE" in the musical dictionary.  TOTALLY OVER-RATED!!Having said that...
