Have you guys see these new commercials from those annoying TheTruth.com people? Basically they are creating skits like a network comedy and saying these discussions were taken from actual board meetings.

I have to wonder, are these things actually true or just more made up bullshit to attack "Big Tobacco". Don't get me wrong, I don't smoke and frankly hate that my wife does, but I'm not a whiny, take no responsibility for myself, bitch that blames them for her or anyone else's addiction.

Anyway, back to those meeting skits, in one of them they are targeting younger smokers and actually suggest fruit flavors and tobacco gum balls. I really finding that hard to believe that even "Big Tobacco" is that desperate or stupid to try that.

Here is the site in case you haven't seen the commercials. There are more on the site than I've actually seen on TV.

Fair Enough (http://www.fairenough.com/)

as a loyal newport smoker, i hate them commercials. i think some of that stuff may have been said in a real board meeting but as a joke. as a general rule, any organization thats tryin to brainwash people will not give accurate facts or they will put em out of context.

These ads actually make me feel sorry for tobacco companies. EVERYONE KNOWS SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU NOW. And yet the government makes them give money to people that are trying to stop people from using their product. That's fucked up.

And the ads are so snobby and stuck up, with kids that act better than you if you're a smoker. I don't need some teen punk telling me what I should do. Go back to Homeroom son.

Listen to Gus.

The tobacco companies have to spend a certain amount of money in ANTI-smoking ads in relation to how much they spend in "PRO"-smoking ads. Hence, "TheTruth.org."

It's like hiring the guy that just shit on your lawn to mow your grass.

The Truth is a different animal than the Tobacco companies. The tobacco companies do put up their own anti-smoking commercials, but they're aimed at teenagers. And you'll know they're tobacco industry commercials because they say "Payed for by Phillip Morris"

funny thing; when you're in high school, you don't really get addicted to cigs, since you probablity of you doing smoking realated activites are much slimmer.

let me tell you, cigarettes compliment, drinking, doing drugs, after sex, even as a celebratory event. good god damn, do they taste good.

funny thing is, these commercials come accross as very sarcastic, yet very true.

they pump $$$ into low income communities, and markets they know are easy targets. and the pvt is getting kicj backs, so why do they give a fuck about the commercials comment?

A while back, BabyAnna posted about working for Truth.com. I
can't find the post, but I recall her posting how hypocrital and
holier-than-thou the people working on the comercials were.
