Well today my car was brought into another toyota dealership for a second opinion on work...JUST TO BACKTRACK- '97 Avalon with 101, 500 miles on it... well it turns out it is now classified as basically a fucking machine of death....if driven for more than like 4 more months it could be extrememly un safe...WHAT THE FUCK.. i just had this piece of shit inspected AND IT PASSED! the only thing they said that needs to be replaced soon are the back tires in like a few more months

so the guy at the dealership did us a solid and took time out to do a full diagnostic on my car basically for free (he worked for the dealership but did this as a favor)

he said that it would not be worth putting close to $2500 into this car that is only worth that much in the BLUE BOOK..so he siad that this car would be accepted by THE PURPLE HEART...which is cool

usually dealerships would do the work that needs to go into a car but do it for HALF the price for these donated cars

GOOD TAX RIGHT OFF and a GOOD CAUSE

but now the problem is ..is what will i drive in a few...I have been saving up for a sweet SUV... but i do not think i will have enough by JUNE to be able to put down.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

---------------------------------------------

Part DEUX

are there any websites to see about VAnity License plates... i dont mean the ones for the front of the car BUT like if i wanted my name or something

or if there are any sites to see what is not ALREADY taken in vanity plates??

I'm not sure about the vanity tags where you are, but here in Virginia you can go to the DMV website and type in the tag you want, and it will tell you if it's taken. Do a search for your state's DMV, and I'm sure they may have the same sort of thing.

'97 Avalon with 101, 500 miles on it...

for a car like that that should be just breaking it in... it should be worth a few dollars more than 2500. it's only averaging a little over 10k a year??????

something sounds wierd... maybe get a second opinion

i had bought a new car, and it got totalled in an accident. I then went back to my '96 blazer. I could not be happier. just use this logic.

If it does cost 2400 to fix you car, that averages out to 200 bucks per month. thats still cheaper than a lease on an SUV, plus you get better gas mileage.

I figure I will be spending like 800-1200 a year on upkeep for my car, and thats only 100 per month. I was paying close to 500 a month for my other car, so this is like a huge break.

Yea having a new car is nice for like 2 months until it wears off and then you are just pissed at the payments. Because every year a newer/prettier/faster/niceer car comes out. And unless you can REALLY afford it, you should just come to terms with not driving the nicest newest cars. Who really gives a shit anyway. I am sure anyoen who judges you does not have money or a nice car anyway. the grass is always greener until you get there and realizes it sucks.

I hear the "donating" thing is a scam and you dont really get anything for it. Id put a For Sale sign with $5000 on it or something and see what happens and sell it "as it", youll be suprised how many people will ask you what you want for it as you drive around! You might want to look into having a regular mechanic look it over. Believe it or not, I have had some pretty good experience with Sears the Remember: Dealers are motivated to try and get you to buy a new car too! So they are more likely inclined to tel you what you have is "about to die on you" to scare you into buy a new one from them.
