Getting rid of 2 computers...

since both are more or less paperweights.  I just want to know what's the proper way to get rid of them in NYC (as far as laws go with some of the componants-recycling, enviroment related, etc.).  Also What's the best way to destroy/erase the hard drives on them?

How old are these computers?&nbsp; Maybe you might want to consider seeing if an area school or non-profit organization might want to use them.&nbsp; Just yank the drives and either put some old ones without your personal info::cough cough porn cough cough::&nbsp;excuse me, without your personal info on them, or tell them all they need to do is&nbsp;get them hard drives.

<P>my old computer is 6 years old, and my dad's is like 7.&nbsp; </P>
<P>&nbsp;</P>
<P>I"m probably just yanking out the drives, playing "smashie smashie" with a hammer and then putting the towers out (along with my old monitors, and I'm sure they'll be taken by someone within the hour)</P>
