New song sounds good. Sounds much better than anything off of the Green Album and Maladroit. Hopefully they'll get back to the Blue Album-type music they used to make.

holy christ! someone finally admitted it! the truth will set me free as well. the first time i listened to pinkerton i thought it sucked too. i listened to the radio "hit" el scorcho and thats about all. 3 years later or so tossed it in and realized it was pretty damn great. maybe it was just the whole single conciousness thing, or that i'm just some lemming that likes things when everyone else does, but pretends to wanna be different or something. dare i say it a poser! oh wait, yeah everyones a so called poser anyhow. aw hell, i'm gonna go jump off a bridge.

by the way did jesus bring anybody else an easter basket today? mommy said he rose from the dead just to hide my eggs and bring me chocolate bunnies!

To be fair, EVERYONE pretty much hated "Pinkerton" when it came out, critics and fans alike. It got savaged in reviews and sold fuck-all.

I'll fully admit it...I bought it the day it came out, listened to it once, and then didn't listen to again for like another year. It took a good long while for it to grow on me.

Holy shit, was this thread about "Beverly Hills?"  Because if it is, well, I just finally heard that song, and it's one of the worst things "modern rawk" has spawned in, uhm, EVER.The entire band should be embarassed for putting it out.  I'm embarassed just for even hearing the goddamn thing.Thanks for making the decision to sell your last two attempts at albums that much easier, boys.Dicks.

To be fair, EVERYONE pretty much hated "Pinkerton" when it came out,
critics and fans alike. It got savaged in reviews and sold fuck-all.  I
don't know. Maybe I am just the oddball herebut I loved that record. I
was kind of glad they broke up for the time being cause that was such a
great record for them to go out on top. The Green album and Maldroit
were kind of dissapointing and even though I bought them, they left me
wanting more. ...and yes, CLEARLY a different band without Matt Sharp.

That's exactly the problem...Weezer IS terrible.  If you can even call this band that still exists "Weezer."I love those first two albums...and I enjoyed the two after that (the last one even more so than "The Green Album")...but everything I've heard off of this new album just amplifies the warning signs that started creeping in as soon as they released "Hash Pipe"...Weezer now has no soul.  Not soul as in "funky"...soul as in emotion, pure and simple.  Rivers got so burned by the initial rejection of "Pinkerton" en masse by both critics and the public that he's gone out of his way to make the most shallow, inoffensive and dull music as possible without actually investing even an iota of himself into it...the thing that made Weezer's songs so great to begin with.That, and he apparently thinks shitty 70's light-rock is what he should be aping these days, as opposed to Pavement and The Cars.Weezer died when Matt Sharp left the band.  Listen to the first two Weezer albums...then listen to Sharp's great Rentals albums from the 90's.  It's obvious he had a HUGE influence on shaping Weezer, and toning down Rivers' bullshit.  Ever since he left, nobody's had the balls to stand up to Rivers because the music press and fans have built up as some kind of idiot savant genius, when really he's just an idiot with a raging ego and nobody around him to tell him "knock it the fuck off" when his albums go overboard on the wankery, which they now do CONSTANTLY.I WANT to like the new Weezer album...the only problem is it sounds absolutely wretched.  It's not pop...it doesn't rock...it just lurches and staggers along, like a drunken embarassing relative at a public function.  It just plain sounds bad.  Embarassingly so.  <img src="http://scripts.cgispy.com/image.cgi?u=TheMojoPin" border="0" /> 1979 << On the streets of your town... >> "You can tell some lies about the good times we've had, but I've kissed your mother twice...and now I'm working on your dad..."

I really like Weezer and I really wanted to like Make Believe, but
except for one or two songs, it's a pretty awful album.  I'm glad
I listened to the whole thing before I bought it. And
the Rentals was a great band.  I need to check out the second cd,
which I didn't even know existed before this morning.

metal and extreme music sure but I also freely open to anything else.
