renting a car- no credit card

does anyone know how i can rent a car in new york state without a credit card? at avis they said i could use cash if i did it 30 days or more in advance, but i need one by monday for a week. any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks

Ooooooooh, that's gonna be tough bro. I've never had to rent, but I know that like 99% of the places are gonna make a big deal about that. At the RV place I work at, no one rents without a credit card that they can charge any huge damage to. It's some insurance for them and I understand it from their end so they don't lose a lot of money, but it sucks for us.
