I have a must buy for any of you old school metal heads. If you like any early metal like Madien or Priest, and you also like some of the heavyier metal today. Than you must check out the new release by the band 3 inches of Blood. They mix old school metal vocals with crushing heavy riffs and deep growling vocals in some parts. Its a wierd death/power metal mix. It may sound like it wouldnt work but trust me it does. I have around 2500 metal albums my self and this one is the first one in a long time to really capture me.

If your interested go to http://www.3inchesofblood.com

I dont say this often but go buy this album.

I have a problem w/ heavy metal in the sense that I can never understand what the singer is saying. All it is is screaming.

I must say I do agree with you in a sense. When I first got into metal I was like.....WTF are they saying. But after listening to it and working my way into harder stuff I guess I got my hears trained and now I'm able to pretty much know what there saying. Now I will not lie there is some Death Metal out there where I sit there and do not know what is being said, and I will have to pull out the lyrics.

And that's exactly what some Death Metal bands are going for. I will admit that recently, our singer Bob has been trying to keep is voice heavy and screaming, but make sure the lyrics are understood. He wants to make sure people understand the words he and our bassist Jenn write.

But there's still plenty of room for bands that do the low growls you can't understand. Mortician, old Kataklysm was insane, Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Suffocation (GODS OF DEATH!), and many many more.

Just after reading the review a few months back about how incredibly great this was and how all the songs are about pirates, how could I NOT buy it.

$10 bucks at Wal-Mart of all places.

Just simply mind blowing how there is the whole classic metal influence there and in addition to that they just fuck you with pure speed and brutality. I like the fact that I can proudly producr "The Claw" while listening.

Maybe I am just a pooper on the whole Death Metal topic but there was some that just lost me. I could literally sing along witht he first Cannibal and Suffocation among others but I always gravitated more towards a little bit more melody in my Death metal. The Death and later Carcass records for example.

But then in a whole other realm I LOVED the early Carcass and Napalm Death blast beat punch you in the face stuff cause it was quick BANG you DIE kind of stuff. Some of the later Napalm wore on me cause the songs would just stretch out and well, would bore me a little bit.

Obtiuary and Sepultura ALWAYS kept me interested.

Deicide wore on me after Legion. Exhorder. Now THAT was a band. To this day Slaughter in the Vatican destroys.

Death metal was always a weird animal with me. One of the few genres of metal I was always quirky with.

Whoever thought Tool and A Perfect Circle were a good idea should be shot.

hey fluff. Have you heard Wisdom in Chains?

They just played Baltimore on Saturday. It's amazing stuff (hardcore, not Death Metal, sorry to derail) from some big PA names--guys from Out to Win and Krutch

Was Wisdom in Chains on the bill with 7Seconds and Champion at The Ottobar by chance?

Haven't heard of WIC but I loved Krutch. I'll have to check 'em out.
