I just watched Monento. I thought it was a great movie. I have a bunch of questions. Please someone try to help me
1) He was the one who killed his wife correct?
2) Does he keep killing people in order to give his life meaning? To keep the blame off himself for killing his wife?
3) At the very end of the movie, he's laying down with his wife and he has a tatoo that says "I've Done It" over his heart where he said he was saving to put the name of the killer. He didnt have it through the whole movie. Does that mean his wife isnt dead???? i didnt understand that.
4) Who the first guy he killed? When did he take the picture of him pointing at his chest?
i think i'm going to have to watch it again. I thought it was a great movie.

1) He killed his wife because
she was a diabetic and he kept
giving her insulin shots... in
my opinion she really killed
herself
2) He keeps killing people
because he thinks the killer
is out ther
3)No idea what your talking
about
4) when he is pointing tio
his chest that is when he
killed the burgular who bashed
his head and knocked out his
wife...

Actually, I just realized that it's spelled Memento. Anyway, CYYYFYYY, I may be confused about a couple of things in the movie, but you're completely wrong. Maybe we should both watch it again. And for #4, it couldn't have been after he killed the real rapist, because he had all the tattoos on him in the picture. In the DVD version, in the special features section, there are police reports that say the wife was found DOS (Dead On the Scene). So what was the whole insulin thing about? I'm gonna have to watch this friggin movie again.

I hope I don't screw this up...it's been a little while since I've seen the film...
1. I believe he did kill his wife, although accidentally. Throughout the film, he gives the account of Sammy Jankis, but Teddy reminds him at the "end" of the film that HE is really Sammy Jankis. Or rather, the Jankis story is his own, only he's substituted Sammy for himself.
2. The reason he keeps on killing is somewhat complicated. I think it's a combination of a) him wanting his life to have purpose (that was the case, at least, with killing Teddy) and b) outside forces manipulating him. His life gets meaning when he's searching for his wife's killer (even if they are already dead by his hand) but it was Teddy (and also Natalie) who kept feeding guys to him, preying on his weakness for his own gain. But I think this is more up to the interpretation of the viewer.
3. I think that scene is more of a fantasy. An imaginary figment of Leonard's memory. It's his dream, I suppose: to be in bed, with his wife alive beside him, and him having killed the man who harmed her in the first place.
4. The first guy he killed WAS one of "killers". As Teddy explains, two guys (basically just junkies looking for a quick score) broke into Leonard's house. They thought the place was empty and / or just his wife was present. But Leonard was there, so he got injured, and his wife WAS raped. I believe he killed one of the attackers. The other escaped. Teddy helped him track him down, and that was that.
He was pointing at his chest because that was the spot where he said he was going to get the tattoo saying "I've done it", to let him know that his job was done. Presumably, he either forget to get it inked, or Teddy convinced him otherwise (because he saw the potential to maniuplate Leonard in the future).
Whew. I hope half of that's accurate. Memento was the best film of the year, so far, IMO.

Everyone's pretty muched answered the questions however here's something in four no one pointed out. when he's in the mirror with Natalie she points to his chest and asks "what's here for?" and he responds "for when I kill my wife's killer" or something like this.
He kills to give his life meaning. He doesn't think he killed his wife even though he did.

Sammy Jenkins was a con man who faked having the condition. it let Leonard remember what he had. He put what happened to himself (killing wife with insulin) on Sammy Jenkins. That's if you believe Teddy

I understand that the story of sammy was really him. If you watch the movie, when he's remembering the story of sammy, you see sammy sitting in a chair at the psych ward and for a split second you see leonard sitting in the chair. I guess se7en is right about the part when he's laying with his wife, that it's a dream. He also had all his tattoos in the picture where he's pointing to his chest so it couldnt be after he killed the guy at his house.

Compliments of WWFallon.
The very first guy he killed was Teddy, right? I mean the last guy. I mean, the guy he killed in the beginning of the movie. I'm confused.
Best movie in a while. I need to buy the DVD. Thanks for reminding me.
They should make a Memento 2.
I'm trying to get to 1000 posts in 4 hours. (1:00pm-5:00pm, Tuesday 10/9) And every post will contribute. Spladow.

The first person to die was
his wife by her husband
because he kept giving her
insulin.... Yes I believe
Teddy...... The next person to
get killed was the robber who
Teddy tracked down and had the
guy kill.... after that Teddy
used the guy to kill Drug
Dealers and what not for money
and to give the guy a reason
to live.... keep hunting his
wifes killer.... He finally
Realized what was going on to
a degree and then killed
