Ever have this happen? You suddenly think of this one song that you just HAVE to listen to, but never got the album. It happened to me this week with "I'm Afraid of Americans" by David Bowie. What an AWESOME song. I have always loved it, but never bought any of his shit.

So I went to iTunes and bought it. I listen to it every morning on my drive to work.

Same thing with "The Perfect Drug" by NIN. When I was starting to get more of their music, I remembered that this one song REALLY rocked shit hard, and I NEEDED it.

Damn, those 2 songs would make a great playlist all on their own.

Anyway, ever have this?

I do this all the time - I get stuck on one song and listen to only that again and again and again. Sometimes for weeks until I am burnt. I even did that with "Perfect Drug" when it came out - I don't think I've heard anything else on that soundtrack.

Nothing right now - maybe something off of Hamell on Trial's last CD.

I know HBox. I get yelled at by my buddy Grim Sanity when he finds out I buy a song too.

It's just a lot easier for me on 56K to buy a song for 99 cents. Then I only have to wait ONCE for a download I KNOW will be the song I want in a very good quality.

If I had broadband, I'd try some P2P programs. But I don't have time on 56K to download dummie files, clipped files, low quality files or flat out fake file names. I might waste 5 hours trying to get one song.

If I REALLY need a song and can't wait to get it from a friend with broadband I just buy it.

If it makes you feel any better HBox, I got Perfect Drug from Grim, and got Staying Alive by the Beegees for free on my own at home. That was one of the reasons I just bought Afraid of Americans. I downloaded like 3 shit copies of Staying Alive before I got a good one. That KILLED me on dial up.

Plus, I got the whole Silent Hill 4 Original Soundtrack off the net too. What an awesome soundtrack!

not one of her most popular songs and you posted her picture recently Money 'changes everything' by Cyndi Lauper

i was unable to locate it via Kazaa or Ares for the longest time but was able to get it a few weeks ago

i blasted it and it honestly gave me some serious pleasure... especially the latter part of the song where she really screams out

a couple others are

> Tearing Us Apart / Clapton and Tina Turner
> Groovy Train / The Farm
> Rain In The Summertime / The Alarm

That does not make me feel better in the least.

I don't buy music online because you can only get music at 128kbps, and ever since I ripped Dark Side of the Moon in Apple Lossless, I need higher bit rates. Hell, I just bought Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta at Target for less than it would cost me online, and now I can have much better sound quality.

That makes me yearn for the past. A few years ago, I was able to download the whole Chrono Cross soundtrack, 3 CDs worth, in its entirety, off of either WinMX or Morpheus. Today, I'd never find one track from something that obscure, let alone the whole album.

I used I-tunes a few times, till I realized they use M4A which you cant convert to Mp3's. So you cant burn your own CD's. You PAY for the sombitch and now you have to buy their piece of shit I-Pod. Plus I dont like those things, not in the city. You get stuck in your own world and some fuckin truck will run you over.
I want to BURN CD's so I can play them in my car, house and office.
Fuckin Apple.

That's weird. I just check my iTunes download and it's at 128 kbps too. When I ripped my CDs at that at home it sounded like shit, so I've been ripping them up at like 192 or 224 at least for better quality. But I thought those downloads were higher quality. It sounds fine for some reason.

Yea, I got the Silent Hill 4 OST off Supernova.org at Grim's house before it got shut down. GOD I miss that Bit Torrent shit already, and I only got to use it once!

If you're wondering, Yes.

I don't like that format either. But you know that you can burn CDs in iTunes as long as you make a playlist out of songs in your library, right? So just have iTunes recognize all your music on the comp and drag the music you want on a CD into a new playlist, then burn through iTunes.

If you don't want to download don't let me stop you from getting your music elsewhere. It's just that your downloads aren't 100% useless.

Right now I could go for a little Red Ryder "Lunatic Fringe". I think I taped it off WPLJ in '83.

No problem man. Up in the Prefrences, you can set it to import CD's as MP3's of higher quality too. Get away from the Apple Lossless shit and other crappy formats.

Also, adjust the burning options while you're in there. You know, time between songs and burn speed. Normal shit.

When you get used to it, iTunes is actually a pretty nice program to organize your music, import CDs, buy stuff and of course upload to your iPod.
