They're discussing this on O&A now...apparently he ran over his puppy with his SUV.

Don started off the show by explaining that yesterday afternoon that while he was driving to the station, he accidently ran over Rudy (one of Don and Freda's dogs). Don was pretty freaked out and shook up about the whole situation; and unfortunatly Rudy passed away after Don and Freda took him to the vet due to the extent of his injuries. Don doesn't care that everyone will call him a p***y because he is guilt stricken about the whole situation, and he just wasn't up to doing the show. Everyone here at DNMShow wish to express their sympathy to Don and Freda over the loss of Rudy (and no, that is not a joke or meant to be mean spirited...the man lost a dog...so ya had to suffer through a Best Of...suck it up and deal with it).

I know that Don has always talked about their dogs over the years. I remember years ago they had an elderly dog named "Brandy," a little dog named Max and a big German Shephard named "Col. Klink."

Man....one time I was driving a moving truck and I accidently ran over a squirrel that sort of darted back and forth in the middle of the road - I squished the back part of it's body, and when I looked in the rear view mirror it was still alive enough to crawl towards the side of the road, like it was a soldier sneaking into battle. I still get really queasy thinking about it.

Even though I was never really a fan of Don & Mike, I listened to every show at least a little at the height of WNEW's all talk format, so I remember stories about this pup. It was named after (or at least they joked that it was) a friend of Don's who was in TV, and Don would do an impression of the pup talking with a Green Bay accent.

It's sad, and I couldn't imagine the guilt I would feel about accidentally killing a dog, let alone my own. I feel for the guy, this is an awful situation.

I saved a turtle from imminent danger by risking my pathetic life, running across a busy highway to save him. I put him in a lake, he didn't thank me, but that was OK. I felt great!!!

I saw a dog hit by a car on the side of the road and he was still alive. I stopped and called a cop and I hope that the cop put him down because his brains were hanging out and he was whimpering like a little baby and looking at us for help with his sad eyes. It was AWFUL!!!
