Has THE RONFATHER flash animation always had O&A and Norton in the
upper lefthand corner at the end? O&A said some very strong
innuendo on today's show basically saying that it's just a rumor...but
it is going to happen. Mind you...Anthony also said he loves f***ing
with us message board people...

Well...I still say
they're going to XM anyway. :-p And...selfishly...it would be
outstanding for me. :-) I love the guys...they need to be able to do
some AFRO shows, though...whether its just through the airwaves between
the XM compound and the O&A compound or if it involves Ron &
Fez relocating back to NY, I don't care. If Ron & Fez don't go back
to NY, there's always the monthly trip the buh-buh-buh-boys take down
to the XM compound. :-)
Not for nothing, but I get kind of weary of the AFRO stuff. Ron and Fez are more than capable of standing on their own. Yes it was fun to have Anthony in the studio, but O&A have their place. Let's hope the R&F show gets situated first then worry about other shows.

Right. It's always nice when another comedian stops by and does a
segment. It's also nice when Opie makes an appearance. All
this mentioning of AFRO business makes it sound like they're going to
be five days a week, when in reality it happened a handful of times at
WNEW.

I recall
hearing Ant on R&F more then a handful of times, Opie not so much.
But Anthony often stayed for the first few segments and one could hear
him get more and more intoxicated.

And that's the end of my show.. donk.
Did
anyone bother to read what I said? Sheesh...I said I was looking
forward to some AFRO shows. Since they used to do it physically in the
same studio, I addressed the possibilities of them staying in
Washington. I even mentioned how the boys go down to Washington once a
month...ONCE A MONTH...wouldn't that imply a lack of frequency? :-p

Anyway...those
in the know are aware that it wasn't an everyday occurrence. But there
would normally be a bit of overlap as the O&A show was ending and
the R&F show was entering the studio.

It's always fun to hear Ron and/or Fez do cross promotion with other
radio shows. They obviously love talk radio, and seem like actual fans
of the genre - of all shows. There are so few people who really do
anything close to what they do, that (I believe) it's been smart of
them to "play well" with others, and they do it better than anyone
else.

Whether it's O&A, the Hideout, D&M, Farrell, Out
to Lunch with Miles and Thrill, etc - about the only show that hasn't
had the balls to do anything with them (and a show that's had
opportunities) is The Junkies, which is too bad because i think that if
the Junks got past their myopic little world view, they could learn a
lot from R&F.

That said, I still believe that Ron and
Fez offer more to other shows than other shows ever offer them. I've
never felt any other radio person has ever really added a whole lot
more to their show, while I always feel that whenever they go on
someone else's program they kill, and usually steal it.

Ok my thoughts on th AFRO shows were they were funny, but I hated really down right loathed that when there were AFRO Shows the Gay inuendos towards FEZ were just so heavily piled on that it was just unfunny to a point where it almost seemed like thats all they did when there were AFRO shows.

and a reason why I think there won't be many, if at all, AFRO shows is if they do go to XM...Opie and Anthony HATE doing mornings and as soon as the show is over they are out of there. so they are soo tired by the end of the show i'd doubt they would stick around long enough to be on Ron and Fezs' show.

Just because a person says they are looking
forward to AFRO shows it shouldn't be taken as an assertion that: 1.
Said person wants to hear AFRO shows all the time. 2. That Ron and Fez
are in anyway secondary to or reliant on O&A 3. That Ron and Fez
need to have O&A on their show to be successful 4. That the only
reason said person want R&F on XM is for these shows to be possible
5. That said person only considers R&F to be sidekicks, or that
just by them taking part in AFRO shows makes them sidekicks.

Really, some of us just want to hear the 5 funniest guys on radio get together once in a while.

First of all the reason why they had a good bye show as you call it is
because he had a good feeling that there agent would get them into XM
and in the past like with O & A they go fired and had no chance for
a good bye show...

Not sure if there is a right way or wrong way to handle things like
this, and I believe the shows (as well as managment) have to come up
with what makes the most sense.

The Junkies took today off, and
I believe may be off tomorrow as well. Since today is a 3 hour
show, R&F might have thought it best to take tonight off out of
respect. Like I said, there is no handbook for things like this; just
whatever they feel is the right thing.

Everyone will find out when everyone finds out, i guess.

Hello, Ron and Fez said goodbye, they are off to XM. The
question is how long before they are on XM. I think the Late July or
Early August most likely. They are just waiting to tell people because
prob. no they can't say anything because of a gag order in their
contract. If you listen to the clip from Ron and Fez and then listen to
what Opie and Anthony said on their show about changes comming and on
channel 202 high voltage which is the channel they are on at XM. There
is nothing keepin Ron and Fez at WJFK face it. There is much more
freedom for them at XM. This is the end of Ron and Fez at WJFK but not
the end of Ron and Fez it is just the beginning and get ready for some
great programing at XM with O & A and R & F going back to back.

I don't like to add to speculation, and I can't believe I wasted a minute scanning just the last page of this topic.... but....

What
if they have signed with XM, and what if their contract ran out 6/30,
and maybe there was a no-compete clause stating a 30-90 day break
from any broadcasts?

And, what if, being that Ron&Fez are
incredible professionals, working with management all through that WNEW
and move to DC crap..... what if they continued be professionals and
worked out a deal to stay on the air during that no-complete
period? Say, a 3 month extension to their contract at JFk,
without the no-compete clause which would allow them to get their lives
in order, prepare to move back to NY, etc. All while working?

It
doesn't hurt JFK, allows JFK to slowly search for replacements.
And it give the buddays a little 'controlled change' allowing for more
stability.

My motto for the day: If it Benefits Bennington, it Benefits us all.
About Ron's kids, I remember when they moved to DC that he wanted to
wait until they were out of school, hence why they boradcasted out of
CBS' basement on 57th Street for a couple months, I doubt his kids
wouldn't mind going bsck to NYC and their friends again
to ny prob be a wjfk for a month or so and then off to NYC and XM. It
just sux that they can't just tell people this is what is going on and
everything but WJFK does not want them to I guess. This also gives time
to XM to get ready for them and decide exactly what channel and when
they are going on. I feel they will stay on 202 High Voltage, along
with O & A. Prob. like 3 - 7pm or even 7pm - 11pm.

I haven't seen if anyone mentioned this. Another typical hint from Ron...

They
were talking about playing Bitz's music and he said one of the songs
had the F word in the title. Ron said we can play it later... and by
later, I mean later in our career.

If they come to NY they might be in the new XM studios in Lincoln Center. Staying in the fortified XM compound in Washington does not jibe with their "Open Door Policy". If they come back here, we will be violating all the fire codes for maximum occupancy of the studios for quite a while.

Heh...I thought for a second I was hearing Big A (new O&A
character on their show) on R&F...then I realized i just had both
streams going at the same time (O&A and R&F)...I'm a moron.

But
the buh-buh-buh-boys were doing impressions of Ron and Fez during part
of the show today...and I swear I heard Ron and Fez actually say
something in the middle of their impressions. ;-)

I think it's pretty close to official now. About 20 minutes ago Opie asked Harry if he was excited that Ron and Fez were coming to 202. This is awesome.

I'm at work now JP so I unless something has been said in the last 1/2 hour I'm not sure. Though they had about a minute or so conversation about it and they did say in fact that Ron and Fez were coming to XM.

Unless this is to counter the really bad radio bit that Howard tried to pull off this morning (which I doubt). Hopefully we'll be hearing more on when they'll actually be on XM. I guess that'll be the new speculation.

Yes, Opie said it. I only put up what I heard. It was said in an off-hand kind of way, though both Op and Anthony both said it. Anthony's comment was more like "yeah they're coming to xm..." or something like that. This was about 10 after 8 this morning. So figure about an hour or so into the program.

So we should rejoice that we now have to pay to listen to the show rather then get it free from free radio or listen through the internet streams that are also free.........man the fans made out on this one.

Personally I feel like they're show has become a bastardized version of itself because they've had the reigns pulled in so tightly over them. I look forward to them being looser, the friday night drinking shows, the AFRO shows, etc. I think the loyal listeners of the show from all over will be much happier with the show they will get. Which isn't to say the show as it is now is bad, it's just that I feel that many times they're holding back for various reasons. To have them be able to do the kind of radio the way they want, however they want it to be is to me the ultimate. If this is true (which I think it is), then I wish them nothing but the best of luck.

As I have stated earlier, I see Ron and Fez's appeal as to being much larger than pretty much any other show out there, and if someone is predisposed to avoiding 202 because of Opie and Anthony, then that could suck for Ron and Fez.

While the goal has been to get them national, I do see where people would rather have them over the radio or in the car than their computer. However, sometime I've had suspicions that the urgency people have had with getting them off of WJFK is that some people are somehow stuck in 2002 and are replaying "radio feuds" in their heads. I know I've read on here from some people (usually with one or two posts total) screaming that they need to get Ron and Fez AWAY from Washington AND Don & Mike; New York vs. Washington / WNEW vs. WJFK / O&A vs. D&M / etc. I have to wonder how much attention, furor there would be if Ron and Fez had landed in Chicago, Phily or some random big market on the west coast.

i don't think it has anything to do with people being stuck in 2002 nor it being about a "radio war" or DC vs NY. it had more to do with people being stuck in NY and not being able to hear the show(of course they could now, but alot has changed). in fact i'm not really sure where the whole DC vs NY thing really comes from. i've read post about it, but it doesn't really seem like anything that still goes on. and if they moved to Chicago I think the same feelings would have happened. kind of like when O&A would move to new markets, the old markets got jealous...but i really think they made more out of it then the fans do.

Stewie calm your nerves i did not even bring you up in person and actually skipped your post because of the horrendous font. But those are my opinions don't come here lurking and then call out my opinion on the situation. And Walking Joint do not try to put words in my mouth this is the fourth time you have tried it and you still don't get it right. I do not complain about how the show is done, my only complaint was the same as Curtoid and that is the incessant bashing of DC and how the DC show is as if they were in NY they would magically be back and better then ever. Does anyone really think that the show would be different if they were on another local NY station in comparison to WJFK? Would they somehow not be held to the FCC standards in NY as they are in DC.

And as i have said many a time, if the show was that great in NY then why did no other station that infinity owns in NY put them on there when NEW went down. And if it is becasue of O&A and the familiarity between the shows they didn't want to risk putting R&F on in NY then it goes back to my point that everyone R&F to piggyback on the success of O&A when R&F can stand alone in any market

Sorry Knowledge I'm a little edgy!

There are officially no talk radio stations in NY. I don't think the boys not going to another NY stations was due to familiarity with O&A. Although O&A may be the reason there is no talk radio left in NY. Who knows.

IF they go to XM it would make the most sense for them to be on 202 from and XM standpoint. Right now 202 plays Opie and Anthony 24 hours a day. Ron and Fez would be a welcomed addition to 202. They would make it better. They would even make O&A better. Personally I'd like to hear AFRO shows again. BUT if they go to XM and stay in DC, fine. Hell if they go to Sirius and broadcast out of Siberia I wouldn't lose any sleep. I would love to hear them on XM (because I have the service already) Yes that is me being a selfish bastard. However if they get a good deal somewhere else and are happy then who cares what the hell I think.

But it does go against the agreement you make when you become an intern at O&A's show.
I've also had concerns that if R&F went specifically to XM 202 that the only people who would find them would be the built-in fans of O&A, many of whom are already aware of Ron and Fez. As I have stated earlier, I see Ron and Fez's appeal as to being much larger than pretty much any other show out there, and if someone is predisposed to avoiding 202 because of Opie and Anthony, then that could suck for Ron and Fez.

That O&A listening base is purely neanderthal they would never be able to grasp intelligent radio.
That's my only comment Curtoid. I'm not get into an argument over this. I think for people who don't actually have XM or who know how diverse the listener-ship is across the boards that it's a little naive to assume that people who span the dial (the rest of the 4+ million subs) won't find Ron and Fez on their own. There are other people out besides O&A listeners. They found O&A, they'll find Ron and Fez too.

They would be pleasantly surprised, sure, but they would have to find them first. I would have the exact same concerns if they were on Howard Stern's channel on Sirius; a lot of people like both Howard and O&A, but there are also a lot of people who don't like what the public impression might be, and might avoid everything directly connected to them.

Hope I am wrong, if this comes to fruition. Hopefully the 4 million + subscribers aren't so locked into their current listening habits that they can give them a chance. There is no show as good as The Ron and Fez Show, and they deserve to get the best treatment, no matter who employs them.

Myself I regularly bounce between America Right/Left and Air America, as well as XM Extreme and other talk stations. I like to get a good feel of different things. Most people outside of the boards who I've talked with who have XM also like to span the dial and see what the various offerings are. I go around to the various talk stations just as I do the various music channels, news channels, etc.

Hay just checking in from Wackbag! I noticed some speculation and I wanted to give my 2 cents.

1)
NY is the ideal place for all radio personalities. Its the place they
want to broadcast at because it has the biggest radio audience and its
the media capital of the world. if you do good in NY you can easliy be
syndicated other places. It also is a great place to live and Ron and
Fez do probably want to move out of the war zone called DC.

2)If you can pick your time slot the "Morning Drive" is what
normally has the most listeners. The afternoon drive usually is second.
That is where sends it best tallent. If that is Don and Mike then WJFK
is in trouble because people in DC don't even like there hacky show. I
know this is my opinion so save it. I spent the weekend in Mexico with
a WJFK listener who out right said, "I hate them (D&M) they are not
funny."

3) If Ron and Fez do go to XM it will be great for them because
not only will they already have a big audience waiting for them; Other
NYers will now subscibe to xm whom were RNF fans before and are not
fond of O&A. It will also give them a chance with the people who
are listening all over the US whom are now O&A fans. This
could be good for both shows expanding the channel. They will also be
able to interact with the Westcoast O&A fans whom normally are not
up to call in and instant feedback the O&A bringing in new
listeners to both shows. They also weld well with the O&A show
bring a laid back aproach to what O&A do well. Ron and Fez don't
play backseat to O&A they expand what O&A do making it an all
day event. The Al
I really don't care if they go to xm or not I just want them to go to a place where they will be appreciated and where they can work to the fullest of thier potential and XM seems to be the best choice. ok i'm done.

I couldn't agree with CircusFreak more on this. I
think it would be a shame for R&F to move to satellite. It doesn't
make a lot of sense really. O&A basically had to hop (don’t know a
whole lot about them, please don’t kill me on that, if I’m wrong let me know
but really no slam intended). Stern feels he has to jump because of his
high-profile FCC fines and the crazy new FCC indecency rules / fine structures.

It seems to me that R&F are not under any overt pressure
to go to satellite – no FCC fines (that I’ve ever heard of), and they don’t
appear to be restrained by this twisted weird censorship craze we seem to be
stuck in … the idea of the move just doesn’t add up.

It’s obvious that R&F are getting screwed by JFK /
Infinity. That’s one that continues to
puzzle me. R&F deliver such a
consistently funny and entertaining show, it’s bizarre that they don’t get
better support. It’s also obvious that
the situation is wearing on them – lately they’ve occasionally sounded a bit
worn out by it all. And yet even inside
that mess they still manage to put on an amazing show – best radio I’ve ever
heard and on a nightly basis.

I’ve been lurking here for a long time, reading and enjoying
the excellent media library (big thanks for that Mikey Boy, that helped
immensely when the Baltimore syndication went away). I’ve hesitated to post, just enjoying lurking (I have to admit
that Moe almost got me into the Freda thread, but I thought better of it). But, I feel strongly about this and it seems
that the points CircusFreak made are rarely voiced. Most folks seem extremely excited by the idea of R&F moving
to satellite.

I imagine that many of you read this thread with great
anticipation, I read with a certain sense of dread -- for the day that I click
on page 150 of this thread and it says “Confirmed – R&F moving to XM202
with O&A”… I don’t have a commute, I’ve got all my music ripped and
encoded… I have absolutely no intention of ever paying for radio. To me, pay radio is a crazy notion (that’s
just me, please forgive me XM/Sirius fans – it just makes no sense for me
personally). I’m sure it makes sense
for folks that have long commutes or drive for a living. But, I am hoping (and I’m betting a lot of
other folks are too) that things can somehow work out at JFK. But, I have to admit that it sure feels like
a done deal these days… The hints are less and less subtle as time
passes.

I found R&F by accident. I imagine lots of other folks did too… And, heh, it did sound to
me exactly as Ron sometimes imitates, odd seemingly non-radio-friendly voices,
but I was hooked almost immediately.
Seems very unlikely that wonderful stumbling-upon thing will happen for
other folks if they hop to satellite (well it will but within the comparatively
small world of satellite subscribers).
That’s a real shame.

Now then, please someone tell me I’m entirely wrong, to
shut-up and call me Mr. 1 post, heh.

What amazes me is that people without satellite radio seem to think it's certain doom for Ron and Fez, that it's almost punishment of sorts. Yet I think it's obvious to anyone who has listened to Opie and Anthony's show on WNEW and now listens to the XM show that the ability to say whatever they want without fear is an amazing thing to have. I'm not even talking about the ability to curse, but rather the ability to talk about anything and not have to worry about it or how late they're running for spots. It seems to be that they can be as creative as they want to be because the sky's the limit.

My guess is that Ron and Fez will go to XM and will be the happiest they've ever been because they can do the type of radio they want with no limits.

I’ve been lurking here for a long time, reading and enjoying the excellent media library (big thanks for that Mikey Boy, that helped immensely when the Baltimore syndication went away). I’ve hesitated to post, just enjoying lurking (I have to admit that Moe almost got me into the Freda thread, but I thought better of it).

OK Plethora. I'm not picking on you because you're new, but what the fuck does that even mean? I was nothing but respectful in that thread, and you can't point out when I wasn't. The MOST I did was agree with a few points that people made that might have taken as "edgy" for that thread.

Explain yourself and apologize and admit you were fucking wrong or prove I did something that almost made you mad enough to say something.

I have had XM since it first came out. I dig it when I take road trips.

I never liked O&A ...but I do enjoy listening to them NOW on the computer in the mornings...and when they are not beating up other shows.

I think it's a better show.

I do not care if R&F go to satellite or not. I really don't.
Good question. I definitly could not see myself paying for 2 services. As of right now, I probably would not get Sirius mainly because of Howard. He is old and irrelivent. (see Imus) There are however, definitly some times when O&A are too heavy-handed. I know I can Count on R&F to be consistantly Good Radio.

I guess the jury is out until the time comes.

Heres a question for the O&A fans who claim to love R&F
IF - IF - IF Ron and Fez went to Sirius, would you buy xm? and have both services?

Nope. Main reason, I don't have the money for two services. I'm perfectly happy with XMs service with or without O&A.

I would however find a way to download and listen to the show which I'm sure would be available through SU.

I, also, don't care where they go. I can listen, regardless. Sure, it would be nice to be able to hear them in the car, but, hell, I just got rid of my car. Plus, most of the time I'm driving, I'm actually within the WJFK listening area. As corny as it sounds, I hope they do wherever is best for them, and that whatever they do, they'll get the respect and support they deserve.

Oh yeah, and if they went to Sirius, I'd subscribe to Sirius.
