doubt anything is going to happen. With the latest YMB referense it
makes it seem as if they do not know what is going on. So i would
'speculate' that they still have some length to their contract and are
trying to work out a deal to get out of it. Thus with the release me
and the let our people go. Makes sense!

The "release me" song has been playing for several weeks now,
although I don't know if it's before or after their surprise one week
vacation. It is nothing new, though - I remember the clip Mikeyboy
posted a couple of months ago of Jefe and Dubs talking about their
"buddies" who were seeminly trapped in a situation by a company that
wasn't letting them go.

I still am holding firm to my
radio/internet psychic that what they really want is to be simulcast on
XM as well as terestrial as opposed to being on XM exclusively; how
much money would XM be able to pay them? how many talk show hosts are
they paying money too to be on only XM? it would be easier for XM just
to pay less money for a show already on the air and then put them on
the big birds.

Speaking of Big Birds - I thought it interesting
that Ron made mention of a segment on Stern's show last week.
Interesting because this was the first week Ron had XM, and had made it
known that (at least on one morning) he had listened to "202." Yet, he
also still listened close enough to his own station to pick up some
random factoid from Howard - on Friday's show.

I was
"talking" with someone today online about the "YMB" show, and I was
reminded that this happened on the same night they had their producer
outside in a bra and panties, and that maybe they were thinking (or
hoping?) that they would get some heat for it. I laughed tonight
when they began their show talking about how they ought to do a "Your
Mom's Box Show" for their agent.

NOT the first time they've
talked about being under-represented by Bob this year. In fact, I think
the first segment of the first show of 2005 was all about him feeding
them a bunch of lines they didn't believe. There have been jabs
on the air in the last year about how they are obviously not as big a
priority as other clients.

There's O&A, but there is also Big
O and Dukes and The Junkies, both of whom are also local. I have to
wonder if push comes to shove who is their agent really fightin for at
WJFK - The Junks or R&F. I freely admit that I don't know
anything, but even with them getting one hour chopped off their show by
Bill O'Reilly, The Junkies seem to have a leg up at the station over
R&F. Conflicts of interest, thats what its looks likes to me.

Harumph

Even
so - even with them going through this, and even with it obviously
weighing on them, they just kill every night. This is the difference
when you have professional comedians doing a show vs. just funny guys,
or guys who think they are funny, or guys who surround themselves with
funny people. R&F don't need to rely on anything or anyone - not a
station, or lead ins, or callers, or support staff. Yes, it would be
great that the world finally wised up and realized all that Ron and Fez
are owed, and on some level the fact that they do more with less than
any other show on the planet might eventually hurt them (in the eyes of
managment), but still I have to give them their props with this.

On
one final side note - did it sound like an indirect plea tonight for
Giant Brian to give up his foolishness and return to WJFK? He
leaves, and all hell breaks loose - "Shit" gets by, friends of the show
go at odds with themselves (and with Fez!) and Keisha can't win a bet
to save her feet.

Ugh, I doubt they want Giant Brian back, he really was probably one of
their worst producers. Wonderboy was a lot better then him (which is
really saying something).
doubt that's the reason, and only because a a couple of weeks ago a
comment was made after Keisha said how long she had to get her resume
together, Ron said "a couple of weeks" and guess when the end of that
couple of weeks was?

I'm guessing they were hoping that Friday was their last day.
The way they were talking about whether Friday was the YMB show led me
to believe they were talking about a prediction that had been made a
while ago. Unless they had this bra stunt planned for a while. Who
knows?

Did anyone notice Anthony's comment today around 8:20 ( i heard it on the replay around 12:19)? They were discussing Jim N's fotos with the cast of Fantastic 4in the studio the afternoon before. Apearently there was a situation with Master Poe and Jessica Alba. Well Anthony called out for a witness to what happened and stalled for a second and commented under his breath to what seemed like someone coming in "well someone who can come on mic BEFORE the 5th" ... hmm could just be nothing.....

teet teet

they aren't interning anymore and not officially employees
yet.

Someone just posted this on wackbag, I hope they're not making this up:

quote:### MY EMAIL ###
Subject: A Cry for help

I went on a 8 hour drive recently with the MyFi. I love music and I
spend most of my time listening to XM Music Lab but after an hour I
lose interest in all music content (especially since they you
progressive crap onto that channel).

But the main point of this e-mail is to address the need for more
commercial-free talk. Besides OnA, does XM offer any more commercial
free talk? I have all the sports, news, and talk channel set in my
MyFi and get very disappointed when I hear 20 minutes of commercials
on a paid service.

I think XM really has to start signing some of the bigger names in
sports talk from FM and make an all sports talk channel which is
commerical-free. Or how about a full channel of general talk that's
not a replay of an FM channel. Also, how about starting up an all
politics channel that is commercial-free.

Maybe they can also beef up High Voltage with Ron and Fez and others.
Im just not into re-listening to OnA two or three times.

I'm generally happy with XM but I feel that adding those three types
of channels and beefing up the "high voltage" talk channel could bring
in alot more listeners than any of the music content.
### END OF MY EMAIL ###

### RESPONSE ###
Thanks for the e-mail, Justin. You'll be happy to know that Ron and Fez will join High Voltage very soon.
Thanks again for writing and for listening to XM.

messing around maybe. Ron mentioned last night about getting back together with the rf.net board and said that they have to tie some things up first yada and there is a long road to travel. Not sure if they mean a long road from NY to DC to hang out or if there is a long road of contract ahead. Either way i still stand by my guess that if they ever do go it wont be till late spring or early summer of 06. Sure people will get angry being led on like this for 6 months now from what i remember. I guess im just a simple minded newbie that does not understand why Stern could say he is going to XYZ and R&F could not come out and say we are staying at JFK or going to a different place...

I just find that its brovo siera that Opie can come on one day and say "they are signed" never to mention who or what, its just lame. How can ona not expect anyone to speculate. If they are going to get upset about people's speculation they need to shut their pie holes about it...

I think the Leykis thing is pretty damn funny! It would make sense, too. He was on a station in this area for years, but the station flipped formats a few months ago. I just hope R&F don't have to stay off air for very long before they start wherever it is they end up going.

What is YMB? Besides "your mom's box", I mean, why does it signify the end of R&F on WJFK?

It
originated on the Opie and Anthony Show. I'll keep this brief. One of
their producers they knew was about to be fired. They had him on the
show, and they asked him for his final words. He said "Your Mom's
Box." Ever since then it was used by O&A and then adopted by
R&F as something you say when you think things are about to
end. It ended up being O&A's final words on WNEW when they
were fired. They didn't know they were going to be fired, but they knew
it was serious, so they said it just in case.
You know, Opie always says how NOBODY ever gets
goodbye shows. If this was really it, and remember they weren't 100%
sure, I think this was as close as anybody is ever gonna get, short of
giants like Stern and Limbaugh. And I think that speaks to how
professional they are, and how loyal they've been to not only WJFK, but
Infinity. Remember, they had to do double shifts twice on two stations.
It's good to see them get something in return, if that's what happening
and this is what they really want.
Ugly, and on WYSP maybe the biggest radio station in a big radio city for White males.

The Afro shows some of the best radio I've heard, but Sirius loves to throw around money so who knows.
I don't get the impression that Cameron has any real authority at the station. Simply from his inability to keep The Hideout on the air weeknight, or the fact that they couldn't even get their Sat night show back, it seems Cam is really there in name only, and only moves when he is told too. That said, if what they say on the air is true and they have only met with the guy twice this year, then shame on him for treating them like crap. Even in name only, a PD or Opporations Manager really should have the lines of communication wide open.

Here's a DCRTV.com nugget:

quote: Stern "Done" By Fall - 6/30 - Howard Stern (left) vows that he'll be off broadcast radio by fall.He told his listeners yesterday that his employer, Infinity, might replace "the king of all media" before his contract us up at the end of the year. Stern is jumping to Sirius Satellite Radio in January 2006. "Technically, we're working for the summer, and then we're done here - that's what I heard," Stern said. The morning man is heard locally on Infinity's WJFK-FM and Live 105.7. More in the NY Post.....

WJFK's two main problems right now are Stern and O'Reilly. First, they should just pull the plug on Howard and make the talent they want to remain there happy by giving them what they want - some answers and some respect. They already clip off the best part of Howard's show (the news) for the Junkies - just suck it up, and do it and communicate with your shows, Infinity. Plop in D&M or The Junkies in the AM; neither will do as well as Stern, but both have proven they could anchor the station in the AM. Don't bring in anyone else from the outside, like a Mancow or whoever is the official Infinity Heir to Howard.

O'Reilly just needs to be shut up and off the station. he does not fit, and he is a speed bump in the show. With him gone, then whoever gets middays can have a full four hours - whether if it is R&F or The Junkies. It's funny, because I always got the impression from the days of The Fastest Hour that Ron and Fez liked that time of day for a show, and would have loved to do the full four hours; meanwhile, whenever I heard the Junks they are always complaining about it being a crummy timeslot.

The easy fix - R&F get middays or (better yet) afternoon drive and Infinity lets them (and the rest of their shows) get syndicated to XM. They have been on WJFK for four or five years now and have proven that they are professionals and stand up guys and if any show at that station deserves to have their ass kissed a little bit it's them.

It may be too late - R&F's patience with WJFK may really be gone, in which case any moves or promises of moves may be moot. The person who brought them down from New York is no longer there, and the people that are there seem in love with crap shows like Big O and Dukes. R&F have done double duties, have had hours of their show highjacked for infomercials; they have seen their producers leave without managment looking to replace anyone; they have dealt with calls in the middle of the shows questiioning if anyone there. Just disgraceful.

Here's something to toss around. At the beginning of Ron and Fez's show on Thursday Ron said he didn't think it was a YMB show and that they we're going to have 4 days off starting at 11pm that night. Now the talk on the show has been that Fez was going on a crusie to the Bahamas. Tell me...what cruise line goes to the Bahamas for only 4 days or quick enough for them to be back on the air Tuesday night (Friday, Sat, Sun & Mon. off - 4 days). Sounds like they knew that they we're going to be off longer than 4 days and this just isn't any old long weekend off for them.

Just something to consider beside the overt YMB references.

My guess is that we'll hear an official announcement next week.

R&F To XM Sooner Rather Than Later? - 7/1 - From
DCRTV's Rumorama. We're being told that the WJFK-FM evening team of Ron
and Fez (left) bid farewell Thursday before taking a vacation. And
going into rerun mode. And they strongly hinted that their time away
from Infinity's 106.7 could be open-ended. "This would be it," said Ron
Bennington. This follows weeks of speculation about R&F's jump to
DC's XM Satellite Radio. Rumor has it that the duo will be on XM-202,
High Voltage, with a few weeks. The XM talk channel also features Opie
and Anthony, who also used to be heard on WJFK-FM.....

going into rerun mode.
Home of Craig Coleman,
Mikeyboy, Mikey D, and Ogre.

this from the front page, or the "mailbag section" ???
Either way it's not really all that concrete.. but I'll believe it when
it happens. I just hope we get a little notice. That way I
can schedule the show encodes for them on one of my 4 XM
receivers. (gotta love those XMPCR's)

I live in your basic NYC pre-war apartment building and receive XM just fine on my WiFi without any external antenna attached. Same when I am walking around town. That was something I was really concerned about bbefore I got XM.

The Tasting Room actually is Leykis. He doesn't do it like his normal shows. It's more like Playboy After Dark. The Baltimore show comes on before that. It's Big O & Dukes and it's tapes of shows they do during the week in Baltimore. They suck ass, by the way.

There's a show that comes on after The Tasting Room that's not too terrible.

Time was @ 9:19am have to pull from the clip when its up

Putting 2 and 2 together, i'll take what went down as a semi offical announcement. Have to wait for the clip to be posted to get a word for word.

OK OnA just basically said RnF are going to 202 exhibit A: opie:" we are expanding the station of 202" after Anthony mentioned ron and fez. Exhibit B: Opie says "you see we look for people with talent not just a name." but then to deflate everything anthony says....I love messing with those message boards...

Same here and I just
started listening to them actually. Well that's not entirely true, I
grew up listening to Ron & Ron and Hooters on the Radio. Fez was a
big part of both shows, so I've been a fan of Ron & Fez for several
years, but they left Florida in 1997 and I hadn't heard them until last
week when I discovered the online stream.

I am currently a Sirius subscriber, I've never heard an Opie & Anthony show, but I will add XM if R&F go there.
