Glad I came to this late to the party - man, I'm with HBox and those that are annoyed at this, because since the speculation started we have had a flood of one or two post people from Wackbag coming here because "they just heard this news"...I can also find it funny that Wackbag people fell for it (props to rf.net folk, however, for calling Bull Shit from the start)...and I'm also a little of the mindset that all of the on-air speculation (from R&F, O&A) in many circumstances has taken this further than press releases or fake radio show interviews. Curses (!) to the person who posted the link back to Wackbag, because I found myself getting sucked into that Ron & Fez thread hahaVery funny reading the dual speculation over there - one interesting find: the guy who wrote the press release also took credit for an IM he sent to Ron last week, that Ron tooled on the air. The guy who complained that Ron didn't understand that Bush mis-spoke in the recent Bushism (the one about propaganda) is the same guy who wrote the fake press release. It would be even better if he turned out to also be the bad called "Steve" who helped get R&F in trouble!

I may be hoping for R&F to end up on XM a little too much, but I think I'm starting to see a trend on the O&A show. Yesterday they ended the show with the R&F bit saying they'd "be talking to her on the 202 from the 212". Today they mentioned how Paul Ana, sounded like Ron from the R&F show. Jimmy did a bad impersonation of Ron last week, and he did another R&F impression today. It doesn't seem like they're dropping hints anymore (like with the "they're signed"..."it's a husband and wife team"..."band back together",etc)  they're just mentioning R&F or alluding to them through Jimmy's bad impression. If R&F were suspended, I would think (speculation) people in the radio industry would know, hence O&A would know, so why wouldn't O&A call terrestrial radio out on R&F's suspension and trash terrestrial radio (as they like to do). If however, R&F's contract expired and they weren't going to XML, why would O&A make reference to them during the last couple of shows, unless they knew there was an announcement that was imminent about R&F moving to XML?  The only reason I can think of is that there buddys are unemployed and O&A know everyone in the radio Biz in listening to satellite and they are trying to advertise R&F. Lastly, please no trashing the newbie response. I've read this entire thread, and having been listening to O&A since the early WNEW days (when people were still calling up and saying that O&A sucked because "this is different than I'm used to" (that line should be said in the Brian Regan voice)). And I listened to R&F since they were Ron and Fez.Com up until the time NEW changed format.

This is unfortunately the problem with RFNet. I post there and have noticed for quite a while now that the funny left that board a long time ago. People seriously need to lighten up. I wish that what you put up were true, but that was fucking funny!who posted that?  i can't get onto wackbag at work and was curious...i'll never remember to check when i get home.I did. I posted how I feel. Some people at times here really need to lighten up. I wasn't trying to make a big deal out if it, just saying how I felt.

But, I'm not one of those instant replay addicts. I am really jonesing for a R.F. fix. I got my fingers crossed that R.F. come over to XM. Clearly there are other issues at work here. It was a caller who
dropped the s-bomb, not the hosts. I could see them perhaps suspending
the guy on the dump button, but the whole show? This seems to be about
more than just the s-bomb imo. Why havent Ron and
Fez and staff let out any info about whats going on? Why are they
leaving their fans hanging? If its was a cut and dry suspension over
the s-bomb, you'd think they would get the word out about the specifics
about whats going on....

i thought it was up June first, contracts are kinda common knowledge,
especially if you hear the show alot and know when it was signed. like
OnA, though the money may have been skewed (they still made more then
they wanted people to believe), you knew when it happened and how long,
so you knew when it ended

There's no way of telling when their contract will end. They could sign a month extension if they wanted. Obviously their contract isn't up yet or they'd be on XM. <div> </div><div>As far as none of the info leaking, they were probably given certain provisions to keep the gossip quiet. Just a guess. And after that BAM over at WackBag stunt, let's not say things just to see reactions. Let's just speculate.</div>

O&A were allowed to announce where they were going while their no-compete clause was in effect. They had a 3 month no-compete clause (at least I'm pretty sure it was 3 months, if memory serves me their NEW contract ended June 30th 2004), on Aug 5th they announced they were going to XM and began their tour of their former markets to promote their return, and at the end of their 3 month tour, they began broadcasting on Oct 4. So I don't think it's a no-compete clause, either they still have a contract with Infinity or they haven't finished up the deal with whatever company (hopefully XM) they are going to.

Mikeyboy, I'm not one to really fraternize with a lot of DC listeners while the "isolated dickheads" were constantly rubbing in the NY loss of RnF.  However It was not everyone.  And since we are all in the same boat now, its an even better reason for us all to finally unite as one and stop the whole battle between NY and DC.  I know now it doesn't seem like there is a battle, but there was when the board was still mega-ultra-super popular.  There are still some NY listeners who dislike you DC guys.  But now every single one of us have a single purpose.  And that is to speculate whether or not they will go to another regular radio station, XM, or Sirius.  Sure the little things OnA have dropped from time to time have made us believe it will be XM, and according to some assclowns it will be Sirius.So now I call for everyone, (male, female, NY, DC, everyone) to put our differences aside and finally try to coexist with one another.Of the people from DC who I have never had a problem with, they would be DCReed, Mikeyboy, and a few others.  So lets all fight the good fight, be RnF Brothers in Arms

Does anyone remember anyone from Florida being pissed at New York for "taking" Ron & Fez, or coming back later "rubbing it in" when R&F were ripped off the air? Of course, maybe if you did fraternize with us dirty, stinking DC listeners you'd understand that we don't feel a sense of accomplisment that WE have something YOU don't. Just myopic nonsense.No one in DC was happy that NY got screwed over, and most were pretty depressed about it. If anything was said, more than likely it was during heated back and forth NY/DC bullshit. I know I personally went mental whenever I felt someone from New York was upset that Ron and Fez were still employed. I never was happy about it - of course the show was better in New York, but I was working with what had happened, not what should have happened. My perception was of a resentment vibe from a small group people (maybe the same group that dislikes us DC guys?) that that R&F didn't walk out, arm in arm with the rest of the people who left WNEW 3 years ago. And instead of blaming O&A, the FCC, the Catholics, or understanding that radio is maybe the most unstable businesses anyone could be in, people layed the blame on Washington and WJFK for "taking" the show - of putting a gun to their heads and forcing them into the Fairfax Virginia Ghetto. At one time there were people (the same haters?) who were making it very tough for new listeners of Ron and Fez to feel welcomed. Things are fluid - they evolve - they change. DC radio listeners, simply by living and comsuming mass culture, have experienced loss. I know I never take for granted that Ron & Fez are always going to be where I want them to be, because of what happened in NY, but I am always hopeful that wherever they go, that it is where they want to be, that it is on their terms, and that all of their fans will be able to enjoy the show, without the need to feel that they are branded simply because of where they live.

The way I think most New york listeners see it is, when we thought Ron and Fez were going to leave we all rallied together, we wrote, we called,we e-mailed, we protested, we did all we could in our power to keep our buddys here, but in the long run, we still lost the guys. and maybe thier is some unconscious resentment towards DC listeners. Mostly becuz we think you guys take Ron and Fez for granted. almost like we we're cheated on. Like we are the guys that take the girl out on the date, buy her gifts, and pay for her. and your the ones that Fuck her. So it's not personal hate,it's just we feel like did all we could for them, and they still left us, and even though there are still some hard-cores on this board who can't even listen to them and still try to get them back here. To say DC listeners take R&F for granted is an insult and absolute bullshit.  The only people I can think of that is taking Ron and Fez for granted is WJFK. Why did WJFK bring Ron and Fez here to DC and then NOT promote them? $$ Why was nobody in the dump room the night the S-bomb got out? $$  So many questions for a station that not only takes it's talent for granted- but it's listeners as well.

Look, I didn't mean to bash DC listeners.  It just sucks that after all the fight we did to try and keep them in NY, nothing came out if it.  The emails, calls, protests, the banner plane...all of it went to nothing.  Personally I have no hatred or remorse for any DC listeners.  It just sucks that I can't listen to them on a regular basis, or even visit them like I did in NY.  It was just fun being there during the show and participating at times.  Everyone keeps saying they did better in NY, I really cant say because I dont listen to them in DC, but if that's the case....it irks me more because they can do better.....in NY again.

Howard Stern represents everything that is WRONG with radio these days.An old talent that is just existing off his fanbase he amassed when he was good.  He brings nothing new to the table, and instead of trying to help new talents like Opie and Anthony, he labels them CLONES and uses his pull to shut them up.What a boring, misogynistic, sophomoric show.  And what a hypocrite he is to put the gag on O&A, when he made his name ripping apart people like Kathy Lee every fucking day when I used to listen to him in the early 90's.  I don't think there's a way for me to hate him more.  Maybe I'll burn his books I bought.

- this seems much more of an O&A topic than a R&F speculation
topic, close call though. So much of it is a barage of O&A fans who
are flooding it with repeating the "Stern sucks" or "Don killed a dog"
or "Hoo Hoo I Invented..." or "Monsterrain" comments. There's one
mention of R&F, from a pretty solid Ron and Fez fan from Ireland
(bless his irish heart), in the first half, and other comments through
out. Someone posted the fake press release, and that got some "wish
they were there" scuttle - not to mention the idea of pitting Patti
& Jen against each other.

Yes. He said that right
after he said that he will be the new host of "Late Night" when Conan
takes over The Tonight Show, and Fez hinted that he was in line to be
the host of Spike TV's new and improved version of "What's My Line."
Thankfully they also said they their Super Agent has cleared their
schedule so they can open up for Paul McCartney on his 2005 U.S. tour,
and will still have time to back up Rob Zombie on the second stage for
Ozzfest this summer. Ron also finally admitted that he does the voice
of "Crazy Jen." 
 OH! They also teased that they will be doing their new
satellite show exclusively in Esperanto, so that more people can
understand them.

does go back several years at this point, and all any of them want to
do is to be able to work together.

boys, but been there done that. They have much more to gain by teaming
with Stern who would give them the publicity that they deserve. They
would still be second banana, but to a much bigger banana( pun
intended). Sirius seems to want more personality driven programming and
seems to be willing to support it better. I don't have either XM or
Sirius yet and am waiting to see where they land to help make my
decision. I am leaning towards Sirius because my friends who have it
rave about it more than those with XM. Sirius would give them more
visibility, especially if they wound up on one of the Stern Channels.

As far as I know Opie and Anthony aren't going to be responsible for paying them, so at this point (based on what was posted this morning about the phone call) there's no reason to believe they are involved in any of the negotiations, if there even are negotiations.they may not be part of the negotiations, but i'm sure they have a pretty good idea of whats going on by just being a big part of the company.  Opie seems to talk with Eric Logan all the time and I'm sure he knows what the status is, if any.  time will tell, the speculation isn't even fun anymore.

I've been waiting to get official word of the move to XM and had even placed the MyFi in my basket at Amazon. Decided the other day to go ahead and just buy it and the priced jumped $20 to $269. I didn't see that one coming. Now I am vacillating again. Ron and Fez must be coming and the twenty bucks is to pay for their big new contract.... actually wouldn't mind if it was. Tell me soon...please....

Calm down!  If they stay on WJFK, you'll be able to listen to their show live and free every weeknight as the station streams legally over the internet...and that won't cost you anything...I would assume that would be the ideal avenue for everyone at this point...everyone can hear the show and it's still free!  Now if they can just get a decent staff and PD at WJFK, R&F would be getting somewhere...And what's with people freaking out if you have to register to get the legal radio stream from WJFK?  Name a sight where you DON'T have to register for something these days...e-mail, newspapers, message boards, web servers...what's the big deal?

It's great that I'm listening to Ron and Fez
again, but XM has really spoiled me. I simply can't fucking stand these
commercial breaks. I don't even have to deal with O&A's small
commercial load since I record it and listen to it on my iPod. That's
just compounding my problem. And then there are the PSAs. Holy fuck.I really hope they do end up on XM, but I too doubt it will happen now.

This was a strange curve for WJFK to throw us.  I don't know what to think of it.  My opinion on XM is still unchanged though.  I'll buy the online feed from them if Ron and Fez move there.  It's only worth it for me if I get both Ron and Fez and Opie and Anthony.  I hardly listen to a radio at all anymore, so buying that equipment is stupid for me.  My iPod owns radio.  Why wait for something I may like to come on the radio when I can just shuffle songs I know are good because I put them on the thing?

Well last night I put it in my shopping cart at amazon to check the price and "poof" I got a message saying thank you for your order. I tried to cancel, but couldn't. Amazon's response...refuse the package and we'll credit your account...So, over the last 12 hours or so I have been trying to convince myself that I really need XM.

Now that I'm listening I can try to find clues by listening way too closely.Ron
and Fez were talking to Keisha about employment benefits. Keisha said
she wasn't getting any from JFK and then Ron was going to tell her
something but then said "I don't want to get a cal from my agent." Then
he asked her if she was under the impression that she was getting a
full time job.I guess that means either they are leaving, they
are getting a real producer soon, or I should stop listening so
closely.

It could be a reference to the fact that Keisha isn't allowed at the station before the show. They discussed that before the show started streaming. It's stupid that Cameron won't let her in to do show prep.

When R&F were talking to Keisha about her not being allowed in the station before the show (I think it was last week) they told her (paraphrased) if Cameron wants you to phone in the show, then do it. They seem to really feel for her situation. As much flak as she gets in some threads, she's doing a pretty damn good job with what little she has to work with.

more speculation....XM is supposed to have some kind of major
channel overhaul in July. "Lots of announcements" are the rumors.
Introducing a Japanese pop station and a bunch of other stuff.Maybe a new talk show could begin then?Initially,
i thought XM might be more dead. After today's big chat about Harry
Elvis, now I think it's alive and well again. The shows are already
overflowing and they're on different platforms. EDIT:

It's hard to tell since Fez said yes and Ron said he didn't think so...On a side note, a little later I heard a little of that crapy Loveline show. A girl called from the DC area and talked about how the HFS/El Zol thing caused the show to go away. Adam Carolla then said that he thought they were working on something to bring the show back. Could it have something to do with R&F leaving?

Your Mom's What!?!?!This has been going on for just about 4 months now. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up on WJFK next week, I'm pretty sure Ron and Fez don't know exactly when they are leaving. But if they just found out something and know for sure, that is fantastic. This has been going on way too long. That's no way to treat Ron and Fez (I'm blaming <a href="http://members.cox.net/cousinken/targetpractice6-23-05.mp3" target="_blank">Cameron</a> personally, even though there are other Infinity scumbags involved with this.)Technically isn't the YMB supposed to be when you screw up and know you're going to be fired?
