Well tonight WAS suppose to be the first night of my "photoshop for dummies" class at my community college- one of those non credit sort of deals

well it was cancelled since the teacher was sick

BUT i am wondering if it is difficult to understand or learn?

for some reason Computer and comuter stuff ends up being very difficult for me to grasp.. i know the basic knowledge like internet, word, etc- that got me thru school

my problem is i become frustrated when i do not grasp what i need to learn fast enough....

any advice and past experiences are much appreciated

Photoshop is relatively simple if you basically know you're way around the tools that are available.. Its good to know what each tool does extremely well because it can save you LOTS of time when doing something..

If you know your way around Paint, the Photoshop will be easier for you to learn.. Mind you, they're extremely different but the kind of have the same concept...

They have a whole mess of books that come with CDs that will guide you thri any similar project.. One book I recommend is "WOW : Photoshop" (I think its called this).

Thats exactly my problem too. When I was learning what I do for my job, I was trown into a room full of people who knew just what they were doing and they would get snotty and dismissive when I was stumbling trying to "get it" and they just didnt have patience with me. My mind kind of shuts down when that happens and I wont learn no matter what. But at the same time I had to learn it, so I had to adapt and go at my own pace intil it "clicked".

As fas as the photo shop goes, I think if you can capture images and post them on here, it will give you a leg up. Your going to need to be able to get the image (a file) and bring it into the program. Do you know how to search for files on your computer?

Photoshop is a pain in the butt. It's great now that I have a lot more experience with it. But I had to learn on my own. If the instructor is good, then the class should be pretty easy. Basically all your doing is copying, cutting, pasting, erasing, and painting. The effects are slightly more advanced, but ultimately worthless. And, like Word, you can use it in a pretty simple utilitarian sense, or you can go really in depth with it and customize your pictures all to hell. I have doubts, though, that a one semester class will bother going that far.

I don't know, I learned everything I know about Photoshop from people in the Metal community, my bandmate Bob who had it 1st on a Mac we bought a long time ago for the band, and just my own trial and error.

Just sit down with it and try out a few things on your own time, as well as listening to your instructor. It will come.
