View Full Version : I Hate Starbucks Freeloaders!

I was reading an article in the paper about people who abuse table space and use their local Starbucks as an office. They'll sit at tables all day using their laptops and the wireless access and will buy at most a single drink. Starbucks doesn't seem to care, and they let these people stay.
Anyway, today I needed to meet my wife and daughter at the Starbucks at Union Square. It's a pretty crowded place usually. I walked in, purchased my coffee and looked for a table. Absolutely none were available. As I canvased the place looking for a table to open up, I started looking to see how many people were sitting at tables with a laptop or a book but no drink. I was surprised to see that out of 20 tables, 8 were occupied by people without drinks. A couple of people even had drinks they clearly brought from somewhere else.
Starbucks doesn't want to force people to purchase if they want to stay? That's all well and good, but you're punishing paying customers who have nowhere to sit because of the freeloaders taking up space! I even saw a couple of people walk in, realize that there were no tables, and leave without buying anything.
If you're reading this and you're one of the Starbucks freeloaders, YOU SUCK!

The only reason I've ever stepped into a Starbucks was to take a piss in their bathroom, so these freeloaders can freeload all they want. I'm just there to pee.

Thats why, as nice as it is to set up a WIFI hotspot, you have to charge for internet access at a cafe. Make em pay to sit there.

I guess this is a city problem. Out here in rural NJ, we don't even have electricity yet.

I normally stay away from Starbuck's,
But there is this certain bookshop in Reston that serves coffee and donuts, lets me read FHM without buying the issue, and lets totally blow-up the restroom...

I recently read a similar article, but the one I read had a company of 4 people sharing a table, using the free wifi (wasn't starbucks in the article) and would buy coffee all day. They were able to save on rent and sell their software cheaply because of it.

I know that Starbucks in Union Square and it sucks Bigfoot's dick. It's always packed with bratty NYU students.
However, I'm a freeloader I guess because I'll buy one cup of coffee there, sit at a table with my laptop and write until my battery gets low.

there was an article about a month ago in the NY Times circuits section regarding the protocol of staying all day in a coffee store, particularly with the use of outlets ...
i've become quite addicted to starbuck's in the last year, and have no real choice but to visit each and every day ...
but the cool thing is that the one by my job only has four seats, and the the one by my apt. is in the lobby of a shopping mall -- no outlets, no freeloaders 'wi-fi'-ing away ... just me and my grande/bold drip ...

it sucks Bigfoot's dick.
That's dedication to sucking. Not only do you have to catch a bigfoot, but you have to get it aroused and suck if off.
Marvelous.

I read the same article and was just about to post about it. I can not remember where i read it or else I would post a link.
It sounded like a cool concept. they did not have to pay for an office, the company had some steady customers who continually bought shit. seems like it works for everyone.
