Yeah, call me a fag, go ahead.
This bald bitch can fucking sing. She just killed some Janis Joplin at the Grammy;s. I dunno why she's bald, but it don't matter because she's not pretty with hair, or without. But the bitch can sing.
She covered Bruce's Born to Run, I think at a 9/11 concert, and killed that too.
Rock on you crazy dyke.

I think she's bald because she has cancer.....and I'm not trying to be funny
And call me a fag, but I think that Joplin tribute was easily the highlight of the Grammy's this year for me.

I hope to God it's not cancer, y'all know my issue's there, and I wasn't meaning to poke fun. If that's it, then God bless.
But she's always been fugly, so you know she's got a good voice.

Wow i hope its not cancer. And yea unlike these female hacks out there now. She could actualy sing. It does not matter if you like that type of music. You could still appriciate ther voice.

Jimmy Fallon kissing Drew Barrymore -- on the field, on live TV -- right after the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years. In fact, they were shown in a closeup within 60 seconds of the final out. And every Red Sox fan is determined to pretend that this never happened, and that it didn't taint the moment even a little bit ... so it wasn't a huge deal.

She does have breast cancer.
My girlfriend is a huge M.E. fan, so I went to a show with her once. She puts on a really good show, but it was kind of funny. It was an outdoor show with rows of seats. So everyone is sitting waiting for her to come out (no pun) and as soon as she takes the stage everyone jumps to their feet. So, naturally, I did too. Then I look around. At 6 foot I am towering over this entrie crowd which consisted of mostly 4 and a half foot beefy lesbians. I thought to myself,"Man, it's not like I'm a huge fan, and I'd be pissed if some 8 foot person stood in from of me at one of my favorite bands, so I sat down and stayed there amidst the sea of lesbians.

Tributes are SOMETIMES the best. And hers was easily the best performance at the Grammy's.
Was it last year that they had the tribute to Joe Strummer with Dave Grohl, Elvis Costello and Springsteen rocking their fucking balls off on stage? That kicked ass.
And last year's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductions, when Prince came out with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynn and absolutely SCORCHED "While My Guitar Gently Weeps?" Fucking spectacular. Good tributes rock the house.

Melissa Etheridge is a breast cancer survivor. Chemo made her lose her hair.
She's extremely brave and strong and deserves every ounce of respect that everyone can give to her.
She's beautiful.

Sure..she has breast cancer. yes, she is currently undergoing Chemo but... I still think she's milkin' it.
She comes out there with a "HEY CHECK ME OUT! I AM STRONG!" attitude. Her career isn't what it was and she is definitely gonna ride the "I'm a survivior" wave.
Get a wig.
Wear a hat.
Take some friggin' time off.
Whatever. Just don't market the cancer/chemo thing. It's cheesy and desperate.

Yo, maybe she's making it public because she 'nipped' it early and wants to raise awareness

"THIS ONE'S FOR JOE ...!" don't foget little steven, too ... that was 2003
i never liked janis's music, although her tragic, sad story was interesting ... and i really, really never liked melissa etheridge, always felt she was a third rate springsteen ...
having said that, most of the performances were so weak -- especially joss stone's -- that melissa etheridge's was a cut above the rest ...
and she gets mad props for showing the proud face of a cancer survivor ...
her music still sucks ass ...

I disagree. It didnt seem like she was marketing anything. The lady had and survived breast cancer. If she wore a wig, it would just be a wig on a bald head and everyone would know any way. She is in a prime situation as an entertainer and victim to raise awareness about a horrible, and treatable if found early enough, disease. She already has a solid fan base, and never came across as the type of gimmicky entertainer who would stoop to something as low as milking a disease. And you know what, she is stong because did undergo Chemo.
Furthur more, I don't think we should care about anyone's motives for trying to infrom people about diseases. Tom Greene did the testicular cancer show. Was he trying to cash in, maybe, but did it get 18-24 year old's checking for cancer, yes. That's not a bad thing.
What survivor wave are you talking about?

The fact that she continues to make music doesn't bother me. In fact, I was a huge fan of her first record AND she was reeeeally good (vocally) on the Grammies the other day. I've always thought she could sing w/ guts. I hate wimpy singers (Janet Jackson etc)
There was just something about her overall VIBE the other night that bothered me. Listening to an audio clip of her Janis tribute : PERFECT. But when I WATCHED it...it bothered me. She just kept making that "check me out!" face. That "I'm unstoppable" face. Kinda like that stupid expression that Hulk Hogan used to make.
I'm sympatheic to her health problems. But the fact that she's rockin' HARDER now that she's in a weaker state is very transparent to me.
Two years ago...she was healthy and she's doing the acoustic "one mic, one guitar" tour. Now she has Cancer and she's screaming her lungs out, posing & moving onstage, and playing an electric.
IN MY OPINION, she's making some type of statement. And wouldn't ya know it... it'll probably boost her career.

Tool...you're cool and all but, you're way off base on this one. Perhaps you just misunderstood what I was trying to say. That happens sometimes when people are typing instead of talking.
Having said that:
OF COURSE SHE WILL USE THIS TO HER ADVANTAGE! It's what all celebs do.
Recover from drugs?...write a book.
Just kicked alcohol?...go on Oprah.
Death in the family?...write a big ol' ballad.
Gotta keep that career going any way ya can!
I wasn't making fun of her and I wasn't making jokes.
All I was saying was, whenever a celeb cashes in on a tragedy (personal or public)...I feel manipulated. Especially when their career is winding down a bit.
