I was reading the paper today(bergen Record), and i saw an atricle about train noise and congestiong in Teaneck and the surrounding areas. As i was reading the article, some of the points are indeed valid, but an assemblyman from Fair Lawn laid out this Gem, taken from the article:
Freight trains run by and idle near his home, which is about 20 FEET from the bergen line.

now i can understand people who get mad when they live somewhere and someone builds a highway or whatever. but this guy bought a house 20 feet from train tracks, then has the balls to complain about train noise?

Up here, they just built a new line of condos right on the bergen mainline in ramsey. They opened them about a year or 2 ago. While in the bagel shop the other day, i heard someone who moved in there complaining about the noise from the train. The condos were advertised as being 100 feet from trains to NYC. Who the fuck do you think you are buying a condo thats parking lot boarders train tracks, and then complaining about how close the train was "built" as she said.

The train wasnt built close, your condo was built close to the train. I dont know why this gets on my nerves so much. Like i said, when something changes when your there, you can be mad. but i just get so mad at people who move in somewhere and then complain about the area, like the dickheads who tried to close the Drive In theatre in warwick cause they bought a house across the street and didnt like the traffic at night in the summer

One of my assistant coaches told me that this person on our block complained to the city about the kids making too much noise. Duh!! What do you expect when the apartment is right next to a school. Dumbass.

I get annoyed in the same way at those walls they build near the highway cause people nearby complain about the noise. Did you not notice Route 80 when you bought the place? But, I guess it's all about getting votes - build the wall and people will support you next time you're up.

My In-Laws actually have a legitimate gripe (although they have accepted it)
When they bought the house in Oakland, they were by the Route 208 terminus. one exit from Skyline drive where the highway ended.
A couple of years ago, they completed the I-287 link-up, from Franklin Lakes to Mahwah. Now they have an interstate around the block. And you can hear the semi's screaming by.

so does that mean that it was

You are in Ridgefield Park????

i grew up on 4th street about half a block from rt 80, and its not even that loud. And yea, it was there long before any of the people lived there. FUCKIN PUSSIES.

We used to run down the corner where the high way was and look down on the accidents that used to happen as people would scurry over to get the turnpike

I have, and always hear, about similair situations with apartments. People who buy on the first floor are always like "yea i will be fine with the people upstairs". And no matter what happens, within 6 months to a year, they can not stand these new upstairs neighbors. They are always way to loud and keep me up all night blah blah blah.

Hey, you took the first floor apartment buddy, you knew what you were getting yourself into.

id say thats a little different though nick. i could understand the normal noise shouldnt piss someone off. but i do live in a first floor, and if that bitch upstairs was banging around at 3 am really loud, i think id get pissed, just cause thats not the time you do those type of things.

the lady upstairs actually makes alotta noise, but never after like 10 PM, so its fine cause like you said, i live on the first floor

People complain about everything. Especially if someone is enjoying themselves in some way. I go to a local Dog Run, and people complain about that.
My friend owns a bar. No noise, cant smoke, he catches shit from the community board all the time.
Fuck these miserable pricks. They want to spread their misery around, fuck them. I'm not going to let them make me miserable, too.
