Last night I got home after five. I parked my car at a metered spot. These meters are active from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday-Friday . When I started to clean the snow off my car this morning, I noticed a $55.00 parking ticket. I was confused and late so I didn't look at the ticket.
Later on I notice that the ticket was issued at 18:22. My first though was that the area had been rezoned and I didn't notice the new signage. I remembered that last week I saw a meter-maid creeping around after five. When I got home I check the sign, nothing had changed, still 9-5.
I called the # on the ticket. At first I got "meters are in effect 7 days a week, 24 hours a day." I explained to the woman that the signs clearly stated otherwise. She was polite and asked for the info on the ticket, my name and number. She said she would call me back and she did. As far as she could tell, I sould not have gotten the ticket. A supervisor was supposed to go out and check the signs and they would get back to me on Monday.
I'm sure they will wave the fine. If not, I will have my day in court. I would love to hear the excuse.
My fear is that now they will rezone the area to the 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday -Saturday.
