I stopped off for a few slices on my way home tonite. I got me a regular slice (Neopolitian), a "grandma" and I tried an odd one, called a "bacon cheeseburger" which had chop meat, two kinds of cheese and bacon. They had many other kinds and I was wondering, what's your favorite?

Sorry if it sounds boring, but plain cheese is still my favorite. Everyone can eat a cheese pie and there's no strong flavors or weird textures.
I mean I LOVE a pie with bacon, sausage or ham on it, maybe all 3. But overall, the plain cheese is still king.

I never understood the pineapple thing.
I like any pizza that's well made. Good, fresh ingredients. My favorite is Pizza 33 on 33rd+3rd ave (same owner as Crispinos on SI). Fresh sauce, fresh mozzerella, fresh basil. Simple and perfect. You actually cant make it any better, That's it.

the pineapple thing is hawaiian. im not quite sure what made them think of that, but its really not bad. something about the taste of pineapple adds a nice undertaste to the pizza.

No bullshit like pineapple, ham, chicken or anything Domino's would offer as a special. They use fake cheese anyway. I tend to be traditional when it comes to my pizza so give me, Italian Sausage or Pepperoni and some Extra Cheese. Cook it until it is well done and brown on top and grate some fresh romano and parmesan over top. That is NUMMY!

John's, on Bleecker St. in the village offers the same exact pizza, but unfortunately, the same crazy, out-the-door lines during peak hours. Lombardi's, on Spring, is overrated.</P>
<P>I've come to realize that Staten Island, where my family lives, is a mecca for kick ass pizza. My favorite is the capriciosa at Trattoria Romana...thin crust topped with fresh mozz, dab of sauce, olives, artichoke hearts, thin sliced prosciutto and an egg in the very center...cooked in a fragrant open wood hearth. </P>

<p>i always thought the "hawaiian" ham and pineapple pie was a stoner thing. In one semester at my dorm the stoners ordered about 15 of these pies.</p><p>I know it makes me white trash (or something), but I never ate a pie better than a pizza hut meat lovers. Maybe it was cause i was a kid, but it was Outstanding.</p><p>I like ham now. Just ham on a pizza is just exotic enough for my tastes (once again back to the white trash thing).</p>

<p>my dad used to get the fresh pizza loaf from the italian bakery, slice it up, put a little sauce and a slice of mozz and pop it in the tost'r'oven... and maybe a little oregano</p><p>good stuff!</p><p>pizza loaf - it was the thick round loaf of italian bread</p>
