Bulldogs, I'm relaxed now cuz they won. But if one pitch went wrong, that inning could've spelled disaster. Mo was a ball away from loading the bases with Pujols up next. I'm glad we got out of it alive, but I say, if a guy is pitching a shutout on 93 pitches, you let him keep going.

does bandwagon jumping include rooting for the Broncos, then cowboys, then Jets, and now the patriots?Let me break this down and you can pretend not to understand if you want.  Football is different for some reason.  Its the reason i can watch Detroit vs Arizona if I'm forced to but I could never watch that same match up in baseball.  In football many people love the sport but dont even have a favorite team.  Young people are like this, a friend in school played football, watched it all the time but wasnt a fan of anything but Ronnie Lott.  I liked the Broncos because the games were on a lot that year, I thought THEY were the team that would beat the Giansts that year, and Elway capivated me.  I liked te cowboys because Giant fans hated losing to them.  The jets were always on and they werent the Giants so I liked them.  The Cowboys sucked, the Jets were alright, and the Brocs were pretty good that year.  If I were to hop a wagon it would require me following a team becasue everyone around me was a fan of them and they were winning.  None of these 3 teams ever conflicted with eachother during my early years, so its fine to want them all to win.  After Elway retired I continued watching Bronco games and routing, but soon realized I didnt care if they won on lost.  I found out I was an Elway fan, not a Bronco fan.  Thats not jumping off a wagon.  I just dont give a fuck about them anymore.  I've always like all 3 teams, so there was never any switching besides not liking the Broncos anymore.  I've never liked the Pats.  The only problem was Broncos-Jets in the championship game and i wanted Elways to win more then the Jets to win so thats the way I went.  I didnt even really watch that game.The grandest of all wagons is that degenerate Sox wagon full of haters.

Mojo, you have to recall that this all goes back to us pegging Wadd as a front runner in regard to the spanks.  Front runners/bandwagon peeps never admit it, they write paragraphs about the year 1986 or why football is different and you can be a fan of at least one team per division based on the best players in the league.  That way when one of them wins, you can be an arrogant ass on the ronfez board or at the gay bar.

First of all, he wouldn't have gotten on base in the first place and
second, he's not a speed demon either. He wouldn't have scored. Russ
Johnson? Please.You cheapen the real criticisms of Giambi when you knock him everytime he plays no matter what he does.The
real goats of today's game are Sturtze and Stanton. Sturtze has already
done enough this season that you can forget this. Stanton has not, and
I knew exactly what would happen when he came in the
game.

Of course my hate for Giambi is pathological. He manages to hurt the team in one form or another every game he plays in. And I can't believe Stanton gave up the game-deciding hit after going up 0-2 off 2 pitches.

He didn't hurt the team today. He was today what
he should always be: the best first baseman on the team. No one else on
the roster would have scored on that, few in the league would. First
baseman do not normally have speed. That's why they play first.I
mean, just look at Edmonds double late in the game. Pujols scored from
first, but that was because: 1. Matsui has a bad arm, 2. Matsui fell
and bobbled the ball and 3. Matsui had to throw from his knees, further
weakening his throw. All that, and Pujols was STILL beaten by the
throw! The only reason he scored was because of Posada's crappy
positioning.You really need to realize that Giambi is the
only hope for this team having a decent offensive first baseman. I love
Tino, he did great for a while, but his bat is slow, and he's not going
to come anywhere close to his May production.

Well, the hit that drove in Pujols was very different from Cano's hit. Cano sliced it down the line and bounced it off the walls in the right field corner. That kind of ball can oftentimes score a runner from 1st. And you're right, Tino probably couldn't have made it home either cuz he's almost as slow as Giambi... But all's I'm sayin' is, I want Giambi off the team. We can get better production out of a guy like Olerud at the end of last season, and that's not all that hard to find. Millar started to suck balls for the Red Sox, they went and picked up Olerud. At least they DID something when they realized a weakness at 1st base. Now, granted they're not dealing with an absurdly huge mistake-of-a-contract, but I think it's been long enough to prove that it's time for George to bite the bullet and eat Giambi's cash.

Well, there are no other options right now so
the best option is to keep playing Giambi. Unless you want to do
something stupid and acquire Todd Helton. And it's not like they
haven't tried other options at first. Russ Johnson and Andy Phillips
have started there this season so far. Giambi is the best option right
now. 
Maybe if someone like Olerud surfaces later they can try that.
No matter what happens later this season the fact is that they will
have to pay anywhere from a significant portion to all of his remaining
contract. And he won't go to the minors. So all that's left to do is
play him while minimizing his time in the field.

Oddly enough we have another day of rest tomorrow.  We're gonna need it with The Pirates coming into town on tuesday, and right off the bat we face Kip Wells.  He doesnt have a dynamite walk/ K ratio, but he only gives up about 1 HR per 9 innings.

Why is it stuck in your head that he ever even rounded 3rd? He didn't run through ANYTHING. He stopped at 3rd base... That was IT. He stopped at 3rd. You have no idea what you're talking about and you are making it painfully obvious that you don't even know what play we're discussing. Well aparently because i don't like the Yankees and can give facts i now live in my parent's basement and have no job - i guess i am the last to know these things.The biggest shame is when non-yankee fans bash its lets ban them from the thread while you yankee fans do worse bashing then we do.Wadd's opinions on anything sports related makes my head hurt and makes me angry.  I think that is what the problem is he tosses out completely (insert whatever word fits) things that make no sense and people pounce on it.  Eliminate his posts and this thread is money in the bank.  I love the slow agonizing pain you experience with every loss, keep those threads coming they are golden.  And also btw i have Wang and Cano on my fantasy team and it kills me to root for them to do well
